The ‘My golden child brother disowned me for being adopted’ story sees OP suffering massive family drama and even mistreatment from some of her family members. She was adopted at age 16 by her half-brother and wife who at the time were in their late 30s. This makes them OP’s mum and dad. The couple already had six children of their own.
OP was able to mingle with all the kids except the “golden child” Chad who was only four months older than OP. She calls Chad an “insensitive a**hole for literally everyone.” OP says that as a child he got into fistfights with their older sister and also had “extreme anger issues.” He apparently often broke doors and left holes in the wall. OP says that Chad was able to get away with everything and was allowed more freedom than other kids.
Chad was also a bully who told OP that she “would never be a part of the family” in front of their high school friends. Now Chad gets married right after high school and has a baby soon after. OP distances herself from Chad and also tries to tell her mom about the horrible and mean things he has said to her. But the mom isn’t too bothered about it. However, the tables turn when Chad and his wife need OP’s help.
OP is requested to babysit Chad’s kid for a night
One day OP gets a strange request from Chad’s wife wanting her to babysit their kid. The couple apparently want to go out but can’t due to their child being in the weaning phase and also because the baby is “extremely clingy.”
OP is good at dealing with crying children and is also an insomniac, hence they think she fits the bill to babysit for them. After some thinking, she accepts the offer and shows up at Chad’s house. Chad’s wife greets her, she shows up and simply nods and waves slightly at OP. While the wife complains that the baby is having crying fits at night and won’t sleep till mid-morning, OP does not have too much trouble with him.
After waiting for them to show up from their date, OP texts them hours later. She gets no response and when they show up OP decides to leave. While passing by her brother, she says “So you are not going to say anything to me after I looked after your kid for like seven hours now.”
He snorts and says no “My wife is the one who talked me into this anyway.”
OP tells him she thought he was trying to patch things up by asking her to babysit his kid out of all the people in their big family. She thought it was his way of apologizing.
He asks why he needs to apologize and says, “Man you need to understand that me and my wife are not going to cater to you like mom and dad did because you were adopted.” He further says “You ain’t our family and you won’t ever be.”
When OP’s mother finds out she tries to make excuses for Chad. Even her sister asks her to get over it.
OP’s family starts excluding her from big family events
After being hurt by her family’s response to her encounter with Chad, OP has no contact with them for a while. One day while scrolling through Instagram she finds out her oldest brother is engaged to his girlfriend of four years. Although it’s been a week since the engagement, no one tells her about it.
She phones her brother’s girlfriend who states that OP’s mom told her that she had informed everybody in the family. The OP shows up at her family’s house later where the wedding planning is going on. She realizes she has been excluded from being the wedding’s main cast. Her brother’s girlfriend later tells her that her own mother said she was “unfeminine” and wouldn’t be interested in bridal things. The mom also urges the bride and groom to be, to add OP as a guest at the wedding and not a family member.
Around the same time, OP’s family learns that she is bisexual and is dating girls. This apparently causes her mom to panic. One day her mom shows up at her place telling her a “prejudiced story” about getting hit on by a girl when she had gone to the bar, a long time ago.
One day she receives a text from her little brother saying that their mom is going crazy about OP’s dating life and that her dad is simply saying that OP dating girls is simply a trauma response as she was abused by her biological dad as a kid.
The OP posted three updates on her story revealing all of the above. Now fans are waiting for a fourth update which is yet to drop.
