Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy’s review of Dragon Pizza has gone viral on the internet and Twitter is reacting to the explosive review video.
Dave Portnoy is a well-known personality among sports lovers and foodies. Besides the success of his Barstool Sports company, the star is also well-known for his food reviews. He often shows up to random pizza joints in whichever city he’s visiting and reviews their famous pizzas with his famous one bite. But his recent review of Dragon Pizza in Sommerville, Massachusetts, went completely south after he got into a heated argument with the owner following a bad review. The two exchanged several insults and expletives.
Dave who is dressed in a bright yellow shirt visited Sommerville’s Dragon Pizza recently. The Barstool founder got their famous pizza and stood right outside the shop to record his review. However, the slice failed to impress him.
Dave noted how it had a strong parmesan flavor which he is not a huge fan of.
“Strong parmesan, this is an acquired taste,” he said. “If you get this, know you’re gonna get hit with left and right on the face with parmesan.”
He thinks out loud for a while and expresses his confusion about how to score the pizza.
“If you like parm fine,” he says before giving it a 6.4 out of 10.
The businessman is then greeted by a fan who hilariously calls himself Dom of the Year. The two begin chatting and Dave also invites the fan to taste the pizza. As Dom tries the pizza, Dave says “It may have been our fault cause it may have been sitting for a bit.”
However, Dave’s presence causes a lot of displeasure to the owner who comes out to share his opinion about Dave and his business model.
Dragon Pizza owner fights with Dave Portnoy

The owner walked out of the shop hurriedly and stopped near Dave. He then goes on to share his opinion about Dave judging small businesses’ food with one bite.
“Enjoy your pizza as any customer but I don’t appreciate what you do, coming in and judging a business with one bite,” he says.
The owner who appears triggered by Dave’s presence walks back in. Soon another fan in blue co-ord pants and t-shirt walks in and tastes the pizza. She too agrees saying that the pizza does taste too “parmy.” “I don’t like floppy,” Dave says while talking to the fan.
At this, the owner comes back out and a row ensues between him and Dave. Dragon Pizza’s owner asks Dave to “move on” and “don’t stand in front of my business.” The two then hurl expletives at each other and the owner also threatens Dave that he’d call the police and Dave urges him to do so.
Dave also goes on to say that the owner’s shirt is “6 sizes too small” before commenting on his weight.
When Dave says that he has raised $50 million for small businesses, the owner tells him “you’re all talk.” The two end up arguing for a while longer before Dave starts walking away from the pizza joint.
Twitter reacts to Dave’s Dragon Pizza review
Most X (formerly known as Twitter) users could not help but feel that the Dragon Pizza owner might have tanked his own business after getting into an argument with Dave.
“Better try Dragon Pizza while it is still in business which won’t be much longer,” one person joked.
Another one commented saying, “That guy just put his own pizza place out of business.”
While most people believed Dave had won the argument, a few others thought otherwise.
“TOO bad Dave won this fight haha,” one fan thought.
“Star Wars guy absolutely cooked him,” another person said referring to the owner’s Star Wars shirt. “He didn’t back down. Spoke with confidence. Didn’t stutter. Didn’t get phased by Pres’s low-blow comments,” they further wrote.
A few others wanted to give the owner the benefit of the doubt. “Giving the owner the benefit of the doubt that he had a horrible day leading up to this. How he responds to this tomorrow will truly determine his character…and his business,” one fan said.
