A car accident in Meredith, New Hampshire (NH) has left two people injured and also caused some “major damage” to a local restaurant.
The driver was arrested for driving under the influence following the accident which thankfully saw no fatalities. CBS reports that the 51-year-old driver was found unresponsive at first. The crash involved the car smashing into a local restaurant, endangering the lives of two people inside and causing severe damage to the property.
Car accident in Meredith, NH causes “major damage” to local restaurant
As per CBS, the car accident occurred on Friday night, September 15. A car crashed into Meredith’s famous Hart’s Turkey Farm Restaurant.
The accident happened right before 8:30 p.m. off the Daniel Webster Highway. It injured a 76-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman present in the restaurant. The elderly man was hospitalized due to his injuries. Photos of the accident show the police inspecting a severely damaged white SUV right outside the restaurant. Other pictures also show the destruction it caused on the inside of the property.
For the unversed, the Hart Turkey Farm Restaurant is locally owned and run by the Hart family. They remain the sole owners since 1954. The eatery specializes in traditional home-style food and friendly customer service.
Taking to their Facebook, the Hart family said, “We are all ok, thank goodness. There are no words when something like this happens except a feeling of gratefulness.”
The family further thanked the emergency professionals who showed up at the spot on time. They also thanked their staff and customers who helped each other out.
“A building can be rebuilt but no one can break our Harts,” they said.
The restaurant opened just a day after the accident. Their dining, takeout, and grab-and-go services were up and running. However, they also said, “Pardon our appearance as we work on some cleanup, but we are ready to serve you, our amazing guests.”
Another accident in New Hampshire kills two
Days after the car crash into the Hart restaurant, another crash in the state’s Nasua city killed two. WMUR reveals two people died and one was arrested after a pickup truck crashed into a motorcycle in Nashua on Sunday, September 17 afternoon.
One person from the pickup truck was also treated for minor injuries.
