A viral video suggests a couple could have possibly captured the growl of the mythological creature ‘El Cadejos’ on camera during their vacation in Costa Rica, but social media users have a logical explanation to justify the eerie sound.
With Halloween just around the corner, social media is full of spooky videos – most of which are fabricated to keep up with the occasion. That’s what many had to say after watching the footage of an alleged bigfoot presumed to be a man in a costume pulling a prank in remote Colorado. However, the video filmed in Costa Rica is slightly different in nature as you see nothing, but hear enough to not step out of the room!

Scary growl in viral video sparks ‘El Cadejos’ rumors
The video was reportedly filmed by a couple during their holiday in Costa Rica when they heard scary noises outside their room.
The caption posted under the video shared on UNILAD’s Instagram account says the noise “could be the mythically evil ‘El Cadejos’ also known as ‘Cadejos’”
For the unversed, Cadejos is a fantasy animal that finds its mention in legends unique to the Costa Rican culture. The terrifying creature is believed to be a ghost that looks like a big dog with long black hair, red eyes, and teeth like a jaguar with goat feet. It only appears in the night and walks around dragging its chain.
Even though the video doesn’t show Cadejos, the sound it plays and the time of the night it was captured lean toward the theory that it could have been a ghost. But, Costa Ricans refuse to believe it.
People of Costa Rica are sure it’s a howler monkey
A significant number of Costa Ricans have laughed off the rumors about Cadejos and educated people with a more reasonable explanation after listening to the sound played in the video.
The popular opinion claims the scary growls can be ascribed to howler monkeys, which hold a reputation for being one of the loudest primates on the planet.
One comment read: “That’s 100% a howler monkey. I can say that with absolute certainty.”
“Hahahaha, I’m from Costa Rica, and I’m sorry to be a party pooper but that’s a howler monkey. They’re pretty common throughout all of Costa Rica and you can see them travel in groups during the day,” said another.
