Several users have claimed, “My Spotify Wrapped is Wrong”, after receiving the personalized recap in the form of a reel based on their listening habits in 2023.

The much-anticipated Spotify Wrapped is finally here, and with it comes a variety of new features to highlight your favorite moments in the past year. In addition to your top artists and songs, 2023 Wrapped also lets you personally thank your favorite artists with a fan mail as well as surprise you with a fan message from your top artist. Users say ‘My Spotify Wrapped is Wrong’

Spotify users are of the opinion that their Wrapped for 2023 is “wrong” because it doesn’t reflect their listening habits precisely.

Some have argued that the results shown in Top Artists and Top Songs don’t match with the music they listened to actively in 2023, hence they aren’t accurate.

One user said: “Anyone else prove their Spotify wrapped is wrong? Like the only thing I believe is my top artist and top podcast because I know I listen to them the most.”

“I think my Spotify 2023 Wrapped is wrong. No way I listened to so much Drake. lol,” said another.

A third user claimed: “Is anyone else’s Spotify Wrapped just straight up wrong? LOL. My top songs especially are just not correct because I kept tabs on purpose of one song”

“Idk how else to say this, but my Spotify Wrapped is clearly wrong. Not like “oh it didn’t count November”, but like, just totally off,” wrote one.

Music app calculates your listening data

Despite social media users’ reasoning, it is highly unlikely that Spotify Wrapped is “wrong” or showed “inaccurate” results as it calculates listening data based on your listening habit.

While collecting your data for the yearly recap, Spotify considers streams when users have listened to a song for 30 seconds or more. Therefore, some tracks you have streamed a lot of times but for less than 30 seconds wouldn’t have made it to Wrapped.

Furthermore, Spotify, which usually stops collecting data on October 31st starting January 1st, is believed to have extended its deadline. However, it isn’t clear when the app stopped collecting the data for 2023.

What’s included in Spotify Wrapped

Spotify Wrapped includes the top artists, songs, albums, and podcasts in addition to a set of new features to make the recap more exciting for its users.

In the latest Wrapped, you can also find Me in 2023 – a feature that shows one streaming habit that defined your music listening and each card can be flipped to reveal a listening personality specific to your taste, such as Cyclops, Vampire, Fanatic, and more.

There’s Sound Town too, which matches you to a city based on your listening habits, and 5 new genres presented in a sandwich design.

Another exciting feature in 2023 similar to Artsist message is the Fan Mail option, which allows you to thank your top artist personally.
