Wordle has released its own ‘Wrapped’ with cool statistics about how people played the word game in 2023.
The New York Times, who own the game, analyzed 515 million Wordles worldwide and revealed seven cool findings.

Wordle ‘Wrapped’ reveals top starting words
Wordle’s ‘Wrapped’ reveals that the most popular starting word is ADIEU, but it’s actually also the least efficient.
The next most popular in order are: STARE, SLATE, AUDIO, RAISE, CRANE, ARISE, IRATE, TRAIN, GREAT and HEART.
Wordle players tend to choose a starting word with lots of vowels to try and figure out the puzzle.
“The strategy seems to make sense: Figure out the vowels, and the other letters will fall into place,” The New York Times said.
The next most popular words after that were: AROSE, HOUSE, AISLE, STEAM, LEAST, CRATE, TEARS, SALET and DREAM.
2023’s gameplay shows that SLATE and STARE are now on the rise, while CRANE is becoming a less popular starting word.
Wordle players love using holiday words
The Wordle ‘Wrapped’ also reveals that players love using holiday-specific words on certain days of the year.
For example, the word MERRY was popular on Christmas Eve 2022, while GIFTS AND PEACE were used on Christmas Day.
New Year’s Eve saw a rise in PARTY and YEARS, while players loved using the word SUPER on Super Bowl Sunday.
HEART, LOVER and CUPID were all popular ones on Valentine’s Day, and LUCKY was a top contender on St. Patrick’s Day.
People playing on Easter used RISEN AND BUNNY, while CROWN AND ROYAL were used a lot on the Coronation of Charles III.
Some other holiday words were LABOR and GHOST – and there was a spike in PARTY being used every weekend.
