The conversation surrounding the DC flick and its failure has been nothing short of exhausting, with Dwayne Johnson candidly revealing why «Black Adam» fizzled at the box office. While it had a solid opening, the film had a reported budget north of $190 million, which means it needed to make a considerable chunk of change to be viable for Warner Bros. Previous reports have suggested that «Black Adam» needed around $600 million to break even. With a box-office haul shy of $400 million, the picture is estimated to have lost anywhere between $50 to $100 million. Ouch.
Beyond mediocre financial receipts, «Black Adam» was ridiculed by critics upon release. It has a disheartening 38% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, making it a major lowlight for Johnson. Looper critic Dominic Griffin was a bit more forgiving in his 6/10 review, praising it for being at least mildly entertaining and swiftly paced. With the DC Universe rebooting under James Gunn, Johnson’s hopeful era of leading the franchise is over, with a «Black Adam» sequel now scrapped at Warner Bros.
Despite its flaws, «Black Adam» is still worth investigating as it features the cinematic debut of the Justice Society and some killer action sequences that show off Johnson’s impeccable physicality. There’s also a pretty hilarious cameo from Henry Winkler that’s worth the price of admission (or Netflix subscription) alone.
«Mending the Line» is about an Afghanistan war veteran John Colter (Sinqua Walls) and his struggles to adapt to civilian life. Suffering from PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) and wounds from his tour, Colter finds a reluctant savior in Briax Cox’s Ike Fletcher. A fellow veteran, Fletcher introduces Colter to the world of fly fishing as a means of therapy. Set in the serene state of Montana, Colter and Fletcher become friends, with the former finding meaning and purpose through his new pastime. It’s an effective narrative that sheds light on a popular (and therapeutic) hobby.
While speaking with Field & Stream, director Joshua Caldwell opened up about why he wanted to tell a military story through the lens of fly fishing. «In some ways, it was because there are so few films that feature it,» he said, adding, «The challenge with fly fishing is: What’s the story? […] Fly fishing is the vehicle by which we tell the story.» When Caldwell got his hands on Stephen Camelio’s script, he thought it would be interesting to add fly-fishing elements to the military script. Camelio obliged, as he too is an avid fly fisher.
A number of «Succession» stars found Cox’s on-set behavior to be scary, but the actor was nothing but a sweetheart on the set of «Mending the Line» according to the director. «He’s just really the sweetest guy … and I think that he was so taken with the script. He doesn’t often do these types of movies, but he did it because of the script,» Caldwell told MovieWeb.

In 2018’s «Solo: A Star Wars Story,» which explores the younger years of the famed Corellian smuggler Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich, who was influenced by Jack Nicholson in his performance), Donald Glover plays a younger Lando. Not only did he end up blowing away many moviegoers with his take on the iconic character, but he seemed to earn the stamp of approval from Williams himself as well.

He added, «I mean, when it comes to Lando Calrissian there’s only one Lando Calrissian. I created that character.»
With the Lando Calrissian-centric Disney+ series on the way, and with Donald Glover reportedly tapped to co-write and star, it’ll be interesting to see if he’ll fly solo as the character or if Disney will crack open its checkbook to bring Billy Dee Williams back one more time.

This visit takes place years before Harry’s birth, and ostensibly, Harry is a real person.
Even pushing all of that aside, «Harry Potter» is a series about how love, friendship, and kindness can overcome even the most dangerous of hurdles. It feels relentlessly bleak and sad that the entire thing would be about a young boy struggling with mental demons, so for now, we can safely assume that Hogwarts is what it is presented as — a school for young magical children where they learn to turn mice into teacups.

Cómo usar ChatGPT con Siri, paso a paso
El proceso es francamente simple.
Tan solo necesitas la aplicación de Atajos de Apple, disponible tanto para Mac, iPhone o iPad, un atajo creado específicamente para esta acción por David Bernal y Fran Besora de Applesfera y un código API de OpenAI para que todo funcione correctamente.
Lo primero es entrar en la página web de OpenAI para hacerse con este código secreto. Una vez dentro, mete tus credenciales y entra en la sección API. La que está más a la derecha de las 3 opciones de inicio.

Even for those unfamiliar with the overarching franchise, «Freedom» is a thrilling and beautifully animated movie. It effortlessly blends its exploration of the inhumanity of war and the frustration of negotiating through bureaucracy with really cool space fights and deliberately melodramatic relationship theatrics, meaning it has something for everyone. Of course, this long-awaited movie (it has been in development since 2006) will resonate even more with hardcore fans, but there is still fun to be had for more casual viewers.

Según ha podido saber el medio Financial Times, vía Business Insider, Sam Altman, el CEO de OpenAI, se ha reunido esta semana con ejecutivos de Universal, Paramount y Warner, con el objetivo de convencerles para que utilicen su IA generativa Sora, en sus series y películas.
No olvidemos que, hace solo unos meses, una de las causas de la larga huelga de guionistas y actores, fue el uso de la inteligencia artificial para sustituirles.
La IA Sora quiere ser estrella de Hollywood
Según fuentes conocedoras de la reunión, Sam Altman estuvo presentando Sora a los ejecutivos de Hollywood, y mostrándoles cómo podían usarla. El objetivo de Altman no era venderles el producto, sino que lo conociesen, para convencerles de que no es una amenaza para los estudios de cine.
No se llegó a ningún acuerdo comercial, pero algunos de los ejecutivos comenzaron que Sora podría ahorrarles mucho trabajo y dinero.
La inteligencia artificial generativa Sora se diferencia de ChatGPT en que no crea texto a partir de un prompt, sino vídeos. Con una frase como «elefantes con armadura medieval volando con alas de dragón sobre la Puerta del Sol», es capaz de crear un vídeo completamente realista, que muestre justamente eso. Sora ha sorprendido al mundo por el realismo de los vídeos, pese a mostrar cosas que, hasta ahora, solo se podían generar por ordenador, con un gran presupuesto.
La versión actual de Sora solo puede generar vídeos de un minuto, y aún no está disponible para el público. Pero, con el tiempo, Sora podrá crear películas completas.

La clave está en cómo se utilicen estas herramientas. Efectivamente, pueden ser herramientas útiles para los propios guionistas, artistas o cineastas, pero también quitarles el trabajo a mucho de ellos. Incluso cerrar estudios de cine.

It would fit nicely with the «Footloose»-«Tremors» theory and the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon game.

Por esa razón ha dedicado cuatro años, en su tiempo libre, a diseñar una tarjeta gráfica desde cero, usando hardware y software de código abierto. Incluso ha creado los drivers para que funcione en los Windows modernos. «Ha sido la mayor pesadilla», confiesa en su blog.
FuryGPU, la tarjeta gráfica de código abierto
Dylan Barrie ha usado el FPGA de Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+. Un FPGA es una matriz de puertas lógicas programable, es decir, un dispositivo de hardware completamente programable basado en puertas lógicas, que son las operaciones más básicas de la programación informática.
Con este hardware programable ha diseñado la GPU, y la ha acoplado a una placa PCIe, para poder usarla en cualquier PC.
No tenía ni idea de cómo funciona una GPU, pero lo sabía todo sobre cómo se generan los gráficos a partir de software, para renderizarlos en el chip gráfico. Por eso ha programado su propia GPU desde cero.
Adaptarla al esquema PCIe fue «una tarea hercúlea», según confiesa. Pero lo que más le costó fue crear el controlador de software para que funcionase con Windows.
FuryGPU tiene una potencia equivalente a las tarjetas gráficas más potentes de hace 25 años, así que puede ejecutar Quake y otros juegos de los años 90, a 60 fps, como puedes ver en este vídeo:
Quizá no parezca demasiado, pero es un logro increíble para un solo desarrollador que ha creado todo desde cero.

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon would team up to write Ridley Scott’s historical 2021 drama «The Last Duel,» making it their second written project after «Good Will Hunting.» However, «The Last Duel» wasn’t exactly a duo effort, as they wrote the picture alongside Nicole Holofcener. Bringing Holofcener on board was a sound decision, as Damon and Affleck only wrote the male character-centered scenes in «The Last Duel.»
While speaking with E! News to promote «The Last Duel,» Damon candidly admitted that he and Affleck underestimated how much effort and time it took to write a script together. «If we just work during hours that we could easily carve out, we could get a lot done,» Damon said. «The Last Duel» emerged as another critical success for the duo and for Holofcener — it has an 85% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes. Since «The Last Duel,» both Affleck and Damon haven’t written anything.
They did, however, reunite in 2023 for the Nike biopic «Air,» which Affleck directed. This was the first time Affleck directed Damon — a major moment for the duo. During a Q&A (via Collider) for the film, Damon discussed that it felt natural to be directed by Affleck, saying, «We’ve written a bunch of movies and produced and acted together for so many years and decades, so it didn’t feel any different, working this way.» The feeling was mutual for the filmmaker, as Affleck had nothing but praise for Damon’s performance in «Air.»

Brad Burnie is a thorough and informed «Star Wars» fan, and he backs up his precise figure with several key stats. Without going into the formulaic detail provided in Burnie’s own analysis, let’s just say that the book «Star Wars: Rogue One: The Ultimate Visual Guide» explains that there are approximately 1,196,294 personnel on Death Star 1.0. Burnie adds that the guidebook «Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know» claims that there are 342,953 Imperial Navy and Army garrison members and 25,984 Stormtroopers aboard as well. Add these together, and you get the 1,565,231 figure we started with.
While impressive, it’s worth pointing out that there are a couple of confusing points with Burnie’s math. For instance, through a convoluted string of mathematical analysis, he adds that there are probably around 6,600 workers on board the Death Star, but it’s not noted if this is included in his final figure. He also explains that the guidebook «Star Wars: Age of Rebellion — Dawn of Rebellion Sourcebook» adds that there are 750,000 passengers on the Death Star at the time of its destruction. It isn’t clear if this is included in the «personnel» figure, and based on Merriam-Webster’s definition of personnel as «a body of persons usually employed,» it’s natural to assume that they aren’t. That would boost the grand total to well over 2.25 million casualties at the time of the Death Star’s explosion.
Burnie does add a shout-out for another group of sentient individuals who are left out of the calculations entirely. No droid losses are accounted for and doubtless were present in force on a high-functioning, fully-equipped battle station like the Death Star.

Of course, we now know «Stranger Things» star Joseph Quinn won the gig, joining the super-family after Marvel’s «Fantastic Four» revealed its final casting and release date for July 25, 2025.
While Butler might have lost out on that role, the charming Cajun drawl and energy-charged set of cards could be a better option than simply bursting into flame. We already know that he can handle himself in a fight, given that Austin Butler trained to the point of throwing up for «Dune: Part Two.» As Gambit, he could get his hands just as dirty as one of the iconic members of the mutant team that throws spades, diamonds, and clubs while breaking women’s hearts. If he did get picked, Butler might finally do the character justice in a way that Taylor Kitsch struggled with in «X-Men Origins: Wolverine and in the now untold story Channing Tatum had planned for his «Gambit» movie.
For now, we can only admire the work of Subi Özil and hope that Butler potentially gets dealt a good hand somewhere down the line. While he might’ve made a good Human Torch, he’d certainly make an excellent Gambit.
