User @Acuna_Mattata also made an excellent point by referencing the «Morbius» situation — specifically, when Sony saw online chatter about the 2022 cinematic disaster and thought people liked it, only to re-release it in theaters and watch the Jared Leto flick bomb again. «Dakota Johnson’s commentary on ‘Madame Web’ is the only aspect of the film I was remotely interested in,» they wrote on X. «Between this and the ‘Morbius’ re-release, Sony is so insanely out of touch with the internet.» As for @kellendria21, they bluntly said Johnson is the main draw: «I know I’ve made some jokes about how bad this movie was, however, I want it to be ABUNDANTLY clear to Sony that literally the *only* reason I saw it was because of Dakota Johnson and her star power.»
It’s easy to see why new audiences would be drawn to «The Monuments Men» on Netflix. The movie sees a reunion between George Clooney and Matt Damon, who were impeccable together in the «Ocean’s Eleven» series. «The Monuments Men» is actually somewhat similar in premise to that film, as it also involves a heist of sorts with the ragtag group of Allied forces attempting to preserve noteworthy art. Sadly, the film didn’t seem to hit the same notes as «Ocean’s Eleven» with critics, but the movie does have some supporters in its corner.
One such defender is Ann Hornaday of The Washington Post, who ultimately came out in favor of Clooney’s directorial effort, writing, «If ‘The Monuments Men’ never overcomes its unwieldy structure and unevenness of tone, the film still manages to make a profound, even subtle point: that Hitler’s darkest impulses and annihilating reach extended from human beings to history itself.» That unevenness in tone is something that comes up in many reviews, but that didn’t deter Lou Lumenick of The New York Post from writing positively about it: «Clooney’s low-key directorial effort is not quite an Oscar-caliber movie, though it’s got a great cast, a worthy theme and plenty of things to reward adult moviegoers.»
That great cast and intriguing plotline may be what’s enticing people on Netflix to check it out. If nothing else, watching «The Monuments Men» provides context to a bizarre on-set prank Clooney did on Damon while filming.
The new «Road House» premiered at SXSW in anticipation of its release on Amazon Prime Video on March 21. More reviews will come out between now and then that could bring its Rotten Tomatoes score down to be on par with the original. As it stands now, the remake sounds like a rip-roaring good time. However, while the film is currently getting better scores than its predecessor, some critics have compared it unfavorably to the original.
The Austin Chronicle’s Richard Whittaker wrote, «[2024’s ‘Road House’] may not be an all-timer like the original, but it’ll sure as hell leave some fun bruises.» It definitely seems to be a case where critics at the time may not have appreciated «Road House,» but it’s garnered a stronger reputation over the years. Perhaps more people look back on the original film more fondly due to it being part of their childhoods. Regardless of which one is superior, they both represent the same thing, which is that it’s all right for a movie to be just plain fun sometimes.
Christian Wilko of IndieWire praised the new «Road House» because it’s ultimately a remake done right. «This ‘Road House’ is a fitting update to its predecessor’s legacy,» he wrote. «Not because it’s better, or even because it’s all that similar, but because it moves with the same unselfconscious stupidity that fueled so many of the ’80s blockbusters we remember so fondly.» At the end of the day, anyone who wants to see how ripped Jake Gyllenhaal got to play a former MMA fighter should check out «Road House» when it’s available for all to see.

Such heady concepts are prime for Nolan to explore. Plus, the show has the added benefit of dealing with spies. In a way, it could be considered an anti-James Bond project, and Nolan would also make a great candidate to direct a Bond film. «The Prisoner» feels right up his alley, the opportunity to create a thinking man’s spy movie while introducing a generation to a fantastic sci-fi series.
«The Simpsons» made fun of «The Prisoner,» but it should give viewers a taste of what to expect if they want to watch that episode on Disney+. Granted, the «Prisoner» portion of «The Computer Wore Menace Shows» is only the last third of the episode’s runtime, but it introduces the audience to the idea of a mysterious power keeping people hidden from the rest of the world against their will. «The Simpsons» also includes the white bubble from «The Prisoner» known as Rover, which could incapacitate anyone trying to leave the island. That white bubble also gets referenced in another «Simpsons» episode — Season 9’s «The Joy of Sect» — where Marge (Julie Kavner) escapes it after running away from a cult.

Those who have been following Martin Scorsese’s career for the last few decades should know that this isn’t new behavior by the Academy. Scorsese stands out as one of the most Oscar-nominated directors in history, receiving Best Director nods for multiple classic films including «Raging Bull» and «The Last Temptation of Christ.» With 16 nods, the Oscars have consistently recognized and celebrated him for directing, producing, and writing, but they’ve rarely taken the opportunity to award him.
The creative won his first-ever Oscar for directing the 2006 crime thriller «The Departed» — Scorsese’s last film with Warner Bros. But since 2006, Scorsese himself hasn’t won a single award. While speaking with The New Yorker, Scorsese candidly discussed «The Departed,» labeling it as his goodbye to big-budget filmmaking. Feeling rather ambivalent about the Boston-set crime-thriller, Scorsese was surprised when he ended up gracing the stage to accept his Best Director Oscar. «Winning the award was — don’t forget, it was thirty-seven years before an Oscar for Best Director, let alone Best Picture, which was a total surprise to me,» he said. «But it’s a different Academy from when I was starting. But, for me, that award was, it was inadvertent.»

Todos lo hemos visto en alguna ocasión, quizá en películas, series, libros o hasta canciones: una persona que en algún momento deja de pensar en los demás y en la impresión que genera en los otros para centrarse en sí misma. Solo que últimamente parece tener un nombre propio: síndrome de la chica buena.
Se trata de un concepto que, aunque no es nuevo, empezó a escucharse en Estados Unidos con mucha frecuencia, importándose a otros países, entre ellos España. Aunque cabe imaginar en qué consiste fácilmente, su interés va en aumento si se profundiza en él. ¿En qué se basa realmente y cómo puede perjudicar a cualquiera?
¿Qué es el síndrome de la chica buena?
Básicamente, suele denominarse como “síndrome de la chica buena” el concepto psicológico que describe un patrón de comportamiento en el cual una persona tiende a complacer a los demás, a expensas de sus propias necesidades y deseos. Últimamente, muchos psicólogos y escritores lo están utilizando con bastante frecuencia.
El origen de este comportamiento, si se quiere llamar así, no es novedoso y suele tener un origen definido: una necesidad excesiva de aprobación y aceptación por parte de los demás. En muchos sentidos, tiene similitudes con otro fenómeno psicológico como es la incapacidad de decir “no”. Hay mucha gente que se siente mal cuando se ve obligado a hacerlo, y procura evitarlo.
La mayoría de especialistas que hablan del síndrome de la chica buena tienen claro por qué surge. Suele vincularse, por regla general, una baja autoestima y una falta de confianza en sí mismas. O lo que viene a ser lo mismo, que basan su autovaloración en la impresión que son capaces de crear en los demás, con todo lo que eso conlleva en el día a día.
También es común que quienes sufren este síndrome busquen alcanzar una perfección que, como es lógico, es imposible de conseguir. Es decir, un nivel de autoexigencia a todos los niveles que, en la mayoría de los casos, nace más en la propia persona que en la gente que la rodea. Por esa razón resulta difícil conseguir metas, siempre se tiene la sensación de no ser suficiente.
Evitar el conflicto
Aunque suele hablarse de síndrome de la chica buena para referiste a mujeres, muchos expertos ponen de manifiesto que esto no resulta ni mucho menos exacto. Más bien se trata de una conducta de la personalidad o un carácter determinado, y no tanto de una cuestión de género sexual. Aunque pueden existir variaciones lógicas, muchos hombres pueden experimentarlo de forma similar.
Lo que siempre se suele tener en común, no obstante, es un esfuerzo continuado por evitar el conflicto. ¿Qué quiere decir esto exactamente?
Pues que quienes sufren el síndrome de la chica buena procuran no discutir ni enfrentarse a nadie, lo cual no es negativo en sí mismo, pero sí se puede volver una mala costumbre cuando va contra tus propios intereses.
En definitiva, algo que siempre ha existido, pero que últimamente se define quizá con mayor precisión. Es complicado saber si todos nacemos para ser buenos o malos, pero está claro que, al menos en ocasiones, es imprescindible plantarse.

In 2012’s «Captain Marvel» (by Kelly Sue DeConnick, Dexter Soy, Jamie McKelvie, and Joe Caramagna), she was redesigned with a red, yellow, and blue suit, with gold details throughout; she kept her iconic sash seen in her previous iterations. The classic look was the main suit of Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel in «Captain Marvel,» with the MCU doing a stellar job bringing the costume to life on the big screen. This has remained her most popular ensemble and one she regularly uses — even if Captain Marvel got redesigned with a new costume in her main comic series.
Given the considerable change in Captain Marvel’s looks in the comics over the years, the concept design from Aleski Briclot would have made sense as it did fit the character. But it’s hard to argue that Marvel didn’t make the right choice with her live-action look.
Look, you have to at least give Russell Crowe props for being extremely brave here. The 2012 film adaptation of the legendary stage musical «Les Misérables» proudly touted that all of the singing was done live by the actors, rather than lip-synched to a polished studio recording, which is more often the standard for movie musicals. For the most part, the results were stunning, and showcased the stellar pipes of Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway in particular. For Crowe to even be willing to give it a shot when surrounded by mostly seasoned musical performers took a lot of guts. But guts don’t always equal glory.
Simply put, Crowe isn’t a strong singer. It’s one thing to fall short in this regard in a lighter movie — see Pierce Brosnan in «Mamma Mia.» But while having to sing powerful lines during heartrending scenes about class warfare, poverty, disease, and death in 19th-century France, it’s a whole other thing to not be up to the task. Crowe’s flat notes and strained delivery prove distracting any time he’s on screen, and the otherwise incredible work of live theater veteran Jackman — Crowe’s most frequent scene partner — also ends up suffering as a result.
As the Austin Chronicle said in its review of the movie, «When ‘Les Misérables’ is good, it is very, very good, and when it is bad, it’s usually because Russell Crowe has opened his mouth.»

El artículo de Domínguez advierte sobre el riesgo de «descarga cognitiva», en donde los humanos podrían volverse excesivamente dependiente de la IA, algo que podía llevar a un deterioro de la capacidad para realizar tareas cognitivas de manera independiente.
Al final no es una preocupación simple sobre convertirse en pensadores perezosos, sino más bien el riesgo de estancar el desarrollo cognitivo y las habilidades para resolver problemas.
La inteligencia artificial, a grandes rasgos, son máquinas programadas para imitar la inteligencia humana. Es decir, razonar, aprender y resolver problemas. Al final, este concepto de «singularidad tecnológica» sugiere que la IA podría alcanzar un punto en el que avance más allá del control humano, fusionando potencialmente la inteligencia humana y la artificial.

It’s no stretch to call him a joke character considering he’s one of multiple one-off Deadpool variants combining the Merc with a Mouth with another Marvel hero. Introduced in 2007’s «Cable & Deadpool» #46 and created by Fabian Nicieza and Reilly Brown, Wolverinepool calls Earth-1946 home. Through the Weapon X program, this version of Wade Wilson has his skeleton bonded with Marvel’s former strongest metal, adamantium, just like Wolverine.
As a Deadpool variant, Wolverinepool is sought out and recruited by the villainous Dreadpool, who uses him to hunt down the members of the Deadpool Corps — a group comprised of the character’s variants from across the Multiverse. Unfortunately for Wolverinepool, siding with Dreadpool and the Evil Deadpool Corps turns out to be a poor choice, to say the least. During a fight with Deadpool, Wolverinepool finds himself on the wrong end of a unique grenade. It explodes, unleashing a swarm of bugs that eats Wolverinepool alive, reducing him to a mere adamantium skeleton.
In the event Wolverinepool does appear in «Deadpool and Wolverine,» one has to wonder how close his cinematic rendition and story will match up with his comic book ones. Surely, such answers will be revealed when the third «Deadpool» film debuts on July 26.
It’s understandable that any prospective Season 4 of «The Mandalorian» would be put on the back burner for the upcoming feature film. After all, who knows what could happen to either Din Djarin or Grogu in the movie that may make another season potentially difficult? As it stands, however, Brendan Wayne seems incredibly optimistic that the film’s director, Jon Favreau, is going to treat the characters’ stories with respect.
Wayne explained, «Jon loves and honors everything he does, but specifically ‘Star Wars,’ because for him, it means something beyond this moment. He would never do something half-assed. It matters too much to him. And [Dave] Filoni would never let it happen.» There may naturally be some concern about turning a TV series into a feature-length movie, but Wayne doesn’t sound concerned. Toward the end of the «Chatooine Show» interview, he asserted, «I don’t think there’s any question, watching Mando walk in on the big screen after watching him walk in on the small screen and doing his business, I don’t even think it’s close. It might make Mando even more popular than he already is.»
Disney has provided major release updates on numerous projects, revealing that «The Mandalorian and Grogu» is set to hit theaters sometime in 2026. Din Djarin has saved the day plenty of times before. Will he save the «Star Wars» franchise in movie theaters in just a couple of years?

En una reciente publicación de Techspot, India ha aprobado 1.133 millones de euros para actualizar el chatbot con nuevos prototipos lingüísticos. Adicionalmente, también han anunciado que parte de este dinero será destinado al apoyo de nuevos emprendimientos y a la creación de un “superordenador”. La creación de este potente sistema de computación, tiene como objetivo ser el soporte central de IA de la India. Pero lo que más ha asombrado a las personas, es que dicho superordenador, contará con más de 10.000 tarjetas gráficas. Estas trabajarán como aceleradores de las aplicaciones para la Inteligencia Artificial.
Definitivamente, no nos queda ninguna duda que la intención de la India, es desarrollar modelos de lenguaje más avanzados, que tengan que ver con la IA similares a los de Open AI. Esta noticia de crecimiento tecnológico del país asiático ha sido recibida con mucho positivismo, y más aún, si le dará la oportunidad a las nuevas empresas con ideas innovadoras. It’s not always easy to keep audiences glued to their seats for the non-acting categories every Oscar season, but I found the ceremony’s use of John Cena extremely entertaining and well worth watching this year.
James Gunn’s favorite «Peacemaker» was called upon to present the best achievement in costume design award in a moment described by host Jimmy Kimmel (whose Oscar monologue was kind of cringe) as a nod to an infamous incident that took place at the 42nd Academy Awards ceremony. Art gallery owner Robert Opel streaked across the stage while David Niven prepared to introduce Elizabeth Taylor, causing Niven to quip about Opel’s ‘shortcomings.’ The ‘tribute’ had Cena mock-sheepishly shuffling across the stage, the envelope held before him to «protect» his modesty. He and Kimmel bantered about his previous wardrobe choices, with Kimmel declaring that Cena’s choice to wrestle in jorts was worse than being naked in public.
Cena couldn’t move the envelope to present the nominees, so Kimmel helped him introduce them. When the camera cut back to the auditorium, Cena was draped in a golden curtain — shades of Scarlett O’Hara (Vivien Leigh) in «Gone with the Wind» — and passed the award out to «Poor Things» costume designer Holly Waddington.
The hilarious moment was definitely one of my favorite moments of the evening. It had sharp writing, a great performance by Cena, and a deserving win for Waddington. It’s certainly an Oscar moment viewers will remember for a long, long time.
Richard Gere’s Oscars speech didn’t go down well with the Chinese government, as he was subsequently banned from entering the country for life. Instead of trying to make amends with the nation’s officials, however, he continued to protest against the regime, even calling on the Chinese government to address its history of human rights abuses in the lead-up to the 2008 Beijing Olympics. This didn’t help him mend any fences.
Furthermore, Gere believes his views on China have forced him to focus on independent projects. Reflecting on his career in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he revealed that the biggest entities in entertainment won’t touch him as they rely on their movies performing well in the Eastern country, and he’s too much of a risk to gamble on.
In the same interview, Gere elaborated on how the China ban has affected his indie projects as well. The «Chicago» alum said he was supposed to star in a low-key flick, only for the film’s Chinese director to turn him down, fearing that his family would be forbidden from leaving the country. Despite this, Gere continues to advocate for human rights and has remained true to his beliefs.

It’s not easy to put together the most prestigious awards ceremony in the entertainment industry. Several things can go wrong, and, over the years, they have. From the Will Smith slap controversy that dominated the 94th Academy Awards to the streaker incident in 1974 — which the John Cena skit paid homage to — there’s no telling which scandal will take over the headlines … and that’s before people start arguing about the musical numbers and the winners.
The 96th Oscars ceremony also had its share of belly-flops. The tiny text dump of the In Memoriam segment was a slap in the face to many dearly departed stars. The stuntperson tribute was total nonsense, as viewers criticized the Academy for not announcing a new category that recognizes this underappreciated profession. Still, even with such misses, the event provided so many amazing moments and great victories that fans have no problem considering it a success.
