The idea that Captain America spends an excessive amount of time every day on the toilet may not sit right with some, which is why some people in the Reddit thread have tried to come up with their own theories to explain how Cap doesn’t poop all that much. For instance, Redditor u/Vealzy suggests, «Or he just absorbs every single thing from his food and he never poops.» However, others are quick to state that would require a tremendous amount of energy, with the mass of the food he’s eating needing to go somewhere. In response to that, the super soldier serum could’ve done all sorts of wild things to Captain America’s biology, so perhaps there’s some in-universe explanation 

Of course, the answer to how Cap’s metabolism deals with these potential toilet troubles could lie with another superhero. With the ability to run at super speed, the Flash also raises some weird body questions, especially concerning how he’s able to generate so much energy. In The CW series, «The Flash,» Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) creates high-calorie protein bars to help make up the deficit. It’s possible something similar could exist within the MCU. After all, if Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) could create an Iron Man suit in a cave, he could probably come up with a tasty treat for Cap. It would provide the caloric intake Steve requires but be low enough in mass to where it wouldn’t convert into scary kaiju poops that would make the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) blush. 

Marvel Studios needs to forget exploring the Multiverse and instead focus its energies on providing a definitive answer to Captain America’s poops once and for all. It’s what the people want. 

David Wain’s «Wet Hot American Summer» is a summer camp-set comedy featuring future stars Paul Rudd, Bradley Cooper, and Amy Poehler, to name but a few. It premiered at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival but failed to attract a distributor, the first of many hurdles the film would soon face. Wain discussed the disappointing experience with Entertainment Weekly a decade later. «You could have heard a pin drop in the audience when we screened it,» he said. Wain revealed that he eventually received a «lowball, ridiculous, insulting, pathetic offer» from USA Films. With no other options, he accepted. «It opened at the Empire [AMC] cinema in New York on 42nd Street, which has I think 25 screens and we were in number 25. It’s like the little TV room next to the janitor’s office.»

The film made less than $300,000 in ticket sales, nowhere near its already frugal budget of $1.8 million. The limited reach was coupled with scathing write-ups from reviewers, with one Salon critic calling it «a thoroughly inept piece of moviemaking.» Veteran critic Roger Ebert was also unimpressed, expressing his distaste through parody lyrics of Allan Sherman’s «Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh.» Everyone hated it at the time, but, viewed through the lens of nostalgia, the film slowly gained a cult following. As «Wet Hot American Summer» reached more people through its DVD release, viewers fell in love with its absurdity and offbeat humor, and you will, too.

After Brandon Lee rocked the vengeful Edward Scissorhands look, Vincent Pérez took the lead in «The Crow: City of Angels» as Ashe Corven in 1996, who returns to life to avenge the death of his son. Set in the same universe as «The Crow,» a now grown-up Sarah Mohr (Mia Kirshner) helps the new Crow in his mission, using the paint collection belonging to Ashe’s dead son to give him the Crow look. 

In the 2000 film «The Crow: Salvation,» that classic smile and eye streaks come from much more visceral origins when Alex Corvis (Eric Mabius) is framed for murder and sentenced to death by electrocution. Rather than being painted on, the lines on his face and mouth are seared on when his execution goes awry, leaving scars and marks that resemble the original style. As for the shortlived 1998 television show «The Crow: Stairway to Heaven,» Mark Dacascos’ Draven can change his look at will, whereas Edward Furlong in the 2005 film «The Crow: Wicked Prayer» simply returns to wearing an outfit and a makeup look he wore prior to his death.

If Skarsgård’s version of «The Crow» does follow the comics, his version of Draven might simply dive into the face-paints to give his back-from-the-dead return tour an extra kick. Then again, it would be cool to see him stretch his wings and have this version of «The Crow» add its own bit of vengeance-filled lore to a look simply too cool to die. 

Of course, the most logical reason for Marvel Studios and Sony to stick with the Multiverse theme is money. By critical acclaim alone, Sony’s «Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse» and «Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse» are among the best superhero movies ever made, making them a natural point of interest whenever the future of live-action «Spider-Man» movies is discussed … and if Daniel Richtman’s information is correct, this isn’t going to change anytime soon.

A potential live-action «Spider-Verse» adaptation could probably get by with the various Spider-People and other characters Sony already has the rights to. However, due to turkeys like «Madame Web» and «Morbius,» the SSU’s track record can hardly be compared to that of the MCU. What’s more, it’s unlikely that the live-action film(s) would follow the same beats as the animated ones, so it would make sense to collaborate with the MCU and gain access to its vast pool of fun superheroes who could interact with the various Spider-People — from Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) to Daredevil (Charlie Cox) to even Moon Knight (Oscar Isaac).

This would allow for all sorts of universe-hopping shenanigans — think a hybrid of «No Way Home» and «Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,» only with even more spider-themed heroes. Of course, this is all speculative at the moment, but considering the success of the animated «Spider-Verse» films, Marvel Studios might very well be interested in getting involved in live-action ones … and if Richtman’s intel proves to be accurate, such things might end up on the negotiating table before long.

From the obviously interesting combination of the greatest DC superhero out there and one of the most successful movie directors to the fact that the film will feature the live-action debut of the Authority, there are all sorts of cool curveballs «Superman» might throw. Before all of that, of course, there’s the matter of the suit — and if MyTimeToShineHello’s intel is correct, fans will have plenty of fat to chew. 

This is because the «New 52» Superman costume is a pretty far cry from the classic Superman suit that Clark Kent wears under his street clothes. This version is a full-on nanotech suit that effectively appears and disappears as needed, and has far more subtle highlights than Supes’ usual costumes, which underline its technology vibe. It also boasts a metallic version of the «S» logo, a red belt, and no trunks. Oh, and it’s pretty divisive among the fandom, to say the least, so using a version of this particular suit would definitely be an interesting choice from James Gunn.  

Vinnie Jones might not appear in «Deadpool & Wolverine,» but the actor admitted to Yahoo UK that he loves the franchise. » … Deadpool’s my favorite movie of all f***ing time, more or less,» he said. I really wanted to do it, but they didn’t have the budget to put me in the suit.» Neither Marvel nor Ryan Reynolds has confirmed Jones’ offer or rejection.

Despite the old version of Juggernaut not appearing in the upcoming project, several former 20th Century Fox heroes are reportedly set to join Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. «Deadpool & Wolverine» will bring back a key «X-Men» villain after nearly two decades, with Aaron Stanford’s Pyro seen during the Super Bowl trailer. Meanwhile, action-packed set photos showed Tyler Mane’s Sabretooth will appear in the film. Jennifer Garner’s Elektra from the Ben Affleck-starring «Daredevil» film and her own self-titled 2005 spin-off is also rumored to be in the movie, although that hasn’t been officially confirmed. 

Even if Jones’ Juggernaut isn’t in «Deadpool & Wolverine,» it’s possible the version portrayed by Reynolds in «Deadpool 2» could take his place if needed. However, considering Jones is a self-proclaimed «Deadpool» fan, it’s equally possible his response is just a smokescreen to avoid another potential cameo from leaking. Viewers will have to wait and see if he’s telling the truth.

In Denis Villeneuve’s «Dune – Part One,» Dr. Liet-Kynes (Sharon Duncan-Brewster) also gets to make a whole expository speech about stillsuits for Paul (Timothée Chalamet) and Leto Atreides (Oscar Isaac), thus informing the audience about the suits and their properties. However, the film skips the line about excrement processing, presumably to avoid eliciting an immediate and disgusted reaction from the viewers. 

Whether fans knowing about the suit’s more … advanced recycling properties would have helped or hindered «Dune – Part Two» at the box office, the world will never know. Still, while leaving this very specific function of the suit out of the movie  — or at least not referring to it in any way — is a change from the source material, it’s hard to imagine too many fans up in arms about this particular omission. After all, viewers might find it hard to focus on the plot when they constantly wonder which stillsuit-wearing character is using their portable bathroom at any given moment, or the mess-hiding thigh pads keep drawing their eye. 

The Fremen’s backstory in «Dune» is a great example of supposedly backward people who are nevertheless incredibly capable survivors with a complex culture. Considering that the inclusion of the thigh pad line might have risked turning these deep and multifaceted people into a «walking toilet» meme, it may be best to consider this one an adaptation win. 

«Damsel» does its stock and trade in this kind of female empowerment, a theme that is extremely on the nose throughout the entire film. We see very clearly how marriage, historically, is represented as being akin to human sacrifice, where a helpless young woman is subject to the whims of her new family. Every single character is built out of cardboard, mere props in a storybook fiction, and only Angela Bassett (surprise, surprise) as Elodie’s stepmother manages to make something of her role. In a diversion from the traditional wicked stepmother stock character, she cares deeply for Elodie and her younger sister and is the only person who senses something awry about the royal family. More importantly, despite the fact that this marriage would save their family, she leaves the door open for Elodie to back out of the arrangement in an empathetic gesture that feels the most human out of anything in «Damsel.»

Misogyny and classism are the words of the day. The peril of women is clearly shown, as is the tendency of the rich to exploit and ultimately sacrifice the poor to achieve their own ends. Interestingly (and this is perhaps the only interesting choice that the film makes), the misogynist sacrifice of royal brides is something perpetuated almost entirely by women. Queen Isabelle spearheads the grisly practice, maneuvering her husband — who barely speaks throughout the entire film — and her clearly guilt-ridden son through the ceremony. The dragon herself is female, taking out her grief and rage on innocent young women over the course of several generations. (The fact that it was a man, the former ruler of the kingdom, who caused all this mess in the first place, does not go amiss.)

Known as Laura Kinney to her friends and family, X-23 is a character with an interesting backstory. While she’s an established character in the pages of Marvel’s comic books, the mutant debuted on the screen courtesy of «X-Men: Evolution,» an animated series that chronicles the titular heroes during their teenage years (with an adult Wolverine serving as their mentor). The series is divisive among fans, but X-23 was generally well-received from the outset, and the cartoon was her launchpad toward more acclaimed adventures.

X-23 and Wolverine have a unique relationship. She is cloned from a sample of his DNA and created to be an instrument of destruction for an organization called the Facility. Unfortunately for the villains, Wolverine’s DNA gives her a conscience, and she eventually joins forces with her dad and his X-Men comrades before becoming a member of the X-Force group.

With the X-Men set to join the MCU, there are opportunities for X-23 to have a future in the franchise. However, it remains to be seen what Marvel’s plan is for the mutants on the screen, and whether it involves Logan’s daughter.

Filmmakers and critics have never shied away from calling out the MPA for their arbitrary and confusing ratings. The rating system imposed by the organization has proven to be quite controversial, with numerous projects receiving ratings that didn’t fit the visions of the filmmakers. Because of this, it’s not uncommon for directors to appeal ratings, with Wes Anderson notably fighting the MPA over the original «Asteroid City» rating and winning.

It seems like tackling the MPA was an uphill battle for director Zack Snyder. He had to retool «Batman v Superman» to fit the PG-13 rating, which would allow the blockbuster epic to be seen by the widest audience possible. While speaking at SnyderCon 2023 (via The Direct), Snyder reflected on how the MPA was disappointed that Batman was too mean to Superman. «How about they just team up and like each other?’ How about that? … Maybe, they like argue at the first act, but then they shake hands, and then like they fight the bad guy together,’» Snyder recalled the MPA telling him.

Ultimately, «Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice» ended up in multiplexes with a PG-13 rating, but not without some cuts and tweaks. Warner Bros., which originally had its own negative thoughts about the superhero film, eventually allowed Snyder to release an R-rated director’s cut of the film, which featured more gore and violence. That version also ended up being 30 minutes longer than the theatrically released 151-minute film.

Obviously, the stark, monochromatic look of Giedi Prime is a sharp contrast to the rest of «Dune: Part Two,» which takes place largely on the desert planet of Arrakis. Characterized by sweeping sands and beautiful, pink-hued sunsets, Arrakis is where Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) trains to be a Fremen warrior alongside his fellow fighter Chani (Zendaya), who becomes his romantic partner. Watching training sequences of Paul and Feyd-Rautha in completely different environments is a stunning way to set the stage for their eventual showdown. As Greig Fraser revealed, a lot of consideration went into this crucial contrast.

«We need to know that we’re not in a gladiator environment in Arrakis. So the sun had to be different.» Enter the infrared effect, which Fraser says he and Denis Villeneuve both really loved: «It’s that sort of ghoulish look that you get from that light at night from security cameras, but it’s happening in the middle of the day.» Fraser also told the outlet that only the extended areas of the Giedi Prime arena are computer-generated; the field, most of the walls, and the Baron’s box were all real sets. 

«Dune: Part Two» isn’t the only major release in recent memory to use infrared, actually. And in one Oscar-nominated A24 film, infrared is used to indicate a feeling of total surveillance.

In some cases, the concept of the deleted scene goes over very well. Peacock, for instance, has made a habit of re-releasing superfan episodes of «The Office» with plenty of new tidbits to look out for.

Peter Jackson is also famous for re-releasing the «Lord of the Rings» films with hours of new footage. All told, the extended version runtime total of the trio of movies is 12 hours and 6 minutes — that’s nearly 3 hours of never-before-seen scenes. (And fans still want an even longer Mithril edition.) Jackson provides so much extra material that the extended editions take on a new life of their own. Thanks to the extra footage, the narratives of some of the movies, like «The Two Towers,» become significantly easier to follow.

Zack Snyder is another well-known extra-footage personality. The desire to see his unfinished business behind the camera even led to the call for a complete overhaul of the original «Justice League» movie. The «Justice League» Snyder cut did become a reality, but only after it was given a shot in the arm by DC fans’ obsessive need to see what could have been. A massive campaign was fueled by the hashtag #ReleaseTheSnyderCut. Warner Bros. eventually buckled under the pressure and invested $70 million in creating a workable new version of Snyder’s original vision.

While deleted scenes and extended editions can create fun new experiences for fan bases, they can also backfire. In the case of Snyder’s passion project, the retooled film didn’t have the same impact as was hoped. In hindsight, Warner Bros. reportedly regretted releasing the Snyder cut since it didn’t satisfy fan expectations.

To say Holland’s Peter Parker goes through a lot in «Spider-Man: No Way Home» would be a colossal understatement. By the movie’s end, the hero loses everyone, literally and figuratively. While Garfield’s Spider-Man does indeed save MJ, she loses memory of who her beloved is, as does the whole world.

Taking such a drastic event into account, it’s difficult for many fans to believe that MJ possibly dying was the canon event hovering above the MCU Spidey, especially since he experiences one of the most gut-wrenching losses the franchise has ever seen even without MJ dying. «No [Tom’s] canon event was [Aunt May],» one fan wrote on TikTok. Countless other comments agreed with this sentiment in the same thread, citing May’s death as the ultimate turning point for Holland’s Spider-Man. This idea was echoed over on Reddit too. «It’s May. His traditional Spider-Man story doesn’t start until the very end of No Way Home,» one Redditor wrote.

On Reddit, fans were also more dismissive toward the idea of canon events on a conceptual level, especially since most of what viewers learn of them come from Miguel O’Hara, a not so reliable and mentally stable source. «I think the canon event thing is a bit weird because Miguel doesn’t absolutely know how it works. He’s just doing his best to interpret the information available to him, but I think we’ll see that it’s not entirely correct,» one fan explained.

Regardless on which Spidey event is a «canon» one of not, nobody can deny that the Multiversal webs the «Spider-Verse» has spun has led to a mighty superhero franchise, so much so that it’s rumored even Kevin Feige has become interested in more animated projects thanks to Sony’s animated movies.

Plenty of actors would be understandably intimidated when playing their first major role without having to worry about acting in Patrick Stewart’s shadow. Tom Hardy would later tell Total Film Magazine, «I was terrified. Every day on that set, I was terrified – which worked for the character anyway.» Hardy added, «You can’t hide that, the camera will pick it up. I was genuinely out of my depth.» Expanding on that sentiment in a BBC interview, the actor emphasized that this had been his first experience working for an established franchise, not to mention his first time working in Hollywood, adding, «So I was terrified of failure.»

His nervousness was hard to hide, as Stewart observed in «The Fifty-Year Mission.» «It’s not just that it was a large role, but he had to carry the weight of the antagonist in a ‘Star Trek’ movie,» Steward said. «Major scenes of dialogue, complex emotions.» 

Director Stuart Baird felt this pressure worked in service of the film, noting that Hardy was intimidated by Stewart due to his respect for the actor. «That played on the vulnerability side of it,» Baird said.
