While «Lucifer» Season 7 may be an altogether unlikely possibility, Tom Ellis’ potential film isn’t the first proposal for a «Lucifer» sequel. About a year after «Lucifer» Season 6 first hit Netflix, Screen Rant interviewed co-showrunners Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich. Henderson in particular shared that he would like to work on «Lucifer» again at some point in the future. «I think hopefully at some point, we can find a way to come back, or at least revisit or do something,» he said. «It was such a great time, it’s such a great experience, and we love these people, so never say never.»

Modrovich then chimed in to pitch a «Lucifer» musical on Broadway, while Henderson floated the idea of an animated «Lucifer» series. While these comments may not be completely serious, the series’ former showrunners have, at least, shown interest both in more «Lucifer» and a revival taking a form other than a live-action TV series. It’s not a huge leap to suggest that if they’re thinking of a musical or an animated sequel, a conventional movie like Ellis suggests isn’t out of the question. Of course, getting a movie off the ground requires much more than interest, but at the very least, it’s not just Ellis who’s open to the notion of more «Lucifer.»

«Grey’s Anatomy,» a medical drama developed by Shonda Rhimes, made its debut in 2005 on ABC. A whopping 16.25 million viewers were introduced to the medical team at Grey Sloan Memorial, including Meredith Gray (Ellen Pompeo), Dr. Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), and Dr. Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl).

Izzie is a talented medical professional, but she’s not without flaws. In many instances, she becomes emotionally attached to people whom she shouldn’t be, including patients and married men — a trait that some fans cannot tolerate. For example, in Season 3, after making snide remarks about the marriage between surgical resident George O’Malley (T.R. Knight) and head of orthopedic surgery Callie Torres (Sara Ramírez), Izzie sleeps with George.

On Reddit, u/simplycyn7 said, «Why, why, why did they make her incapable of any and all boundaries? … I also find it SO weird that she feels entitled to demand attention and priority over someone else’s WIFE. And that was before she slept with George.»

Then there’s Izzie’s romance with heart patient Denny Duquette Jr. (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), both while he’s alive and, well, not alive. After his death at the end of Season 2, Izzie begins to see Denny in Season 5, a hallucination caused by an undiagnosed brain tumor. She and Ghost Denny are even intimate with each other. This storyline has been hailed by some as their least favorite out of the show’s 20-plus seasons.

It’s not hard to see the dangerous direction «Friday After Next» could have gone had Katt Williams not spoken his mind. Given that his character Money Mike is sexually pursued by ex-con Damon «Triple O.G.» (Terry Crews), it wouldn’t have taken much to push things too far. But Ice Cube himself has a different perspective on the matter.  

The writer, star, and co-producer of «Friday After Next» addressed Williams’ claims in a video uploaded to Twitter. In it, he states that there was never a rape scene to begin with, commenting, «I would never shoot a rape scene in a movie, especially ‘Friday,’ where you actually see this happening on camera. That ain’t my style.» Cube added that he chose to pit Money Mike against Damon since his own character, Craig, was preoccupied with fighting the Santa robber. 

And even if such a scene was planned out, there was little Williams could have done to alter it, according to Cube. «At that point in everybody’s career, we will listen to a certain extent, but we wasn’t gonna change the movie for it,» he continued. «For any actor, you know? We do what we feel, and if it was a rape scene, it would have been in the movie. There was no reason not to shoot it. But that’s not my style.»

Richard Madden certainly has his supporters, such as u/Skiptree077 on Reddit who praised his work on «Game of Thrones» and «Cinderella. «Based on those two roles, he definitely has the range to pull off the duality of Bruce/Batman imo,» they commented. Yet others have doubts, fearing that Madden may be too similar to a fellow British actor, Robert Pattinson, who played the DC hero in 2022’s «The Batman.»

While acknowledging that Madden would take a different thematic approach to the material from Pattinson, Redditor u/frostbittenfingers9 feels they wouldn’t stand out enough visually, stating, «They’re both 37-year-old Europeans with naturally brooding eyes and razor-sharp jawline … I think they are simply too similar in appearance and general aura to be distinct.» Similarly, u/Puppy_Basket said, «I see the appeal … but I feel like there would be far too much overlap between him and Robert Pattinson’s Batman.»

A counter-argument is offered by u/thoughtzthrukeyz, who is certain the version of Batman we’ll see in «The Brave and the Bold» will be distinct enough to separate the two performers. Noting that Pattinson’s Batman is meant to be a younger interpretation, the user states, «I don’t expect [James] Gunn’s Batman to necessarily be old per se, but he definitely will be a more seasoned Batman, especially given Damian Wayne is Robin in the film, so I think they’ll be quite different thematically.»

We have some time before learning who will take up the cowl, but like previous Batman actors whom some fans were skeptical of, Hasan Kazi’s art makes it easy to see that Madden could blow expectations out of the water.

Kevin Smith seemed to regret the situation surrounding his second feature as he continued to speak with Shannen Doherty on her podcast. He went on to ask if she ever got a shot at a big movie after that. «No, that was it,» she said bluntly. «People literally thought that I was carrying the movie, so therefore, it was a box office failure [and] it was completely on me,» she explained. «So there was no film career after that, which was a little brutal.»

Doherty went on to say how pivotal she thought «Mallrats» would be for her career, saying, «I really thought ‘Mallrats’ was going to kick me into that [higher] gear.» For his part, Smith accepted the responsibility for the movie’s failure and apologized to Doherty. «She’s right, man,» he admitted. «It’s like if this works, here goes the movie career. And it really did not. Boy, I apologize for that.»

However, that isn’t the end of the story. «Mallrats,» like other Smith films, has gone on to find its audience, becoming a cult classic along the way. «So ‘Mallrats’ comes out and dies this miserable death and then has this ten-year ascension to cult classic,» Smith recalled. This led Doherty to ask when they would be doing «Mallrats 2,» to which Smith replied, «We’ve had a script for quite some time… I’m game.» As it stands, fans of the movie will just have to keep their fingers crossed.

No judgment, but it’s safe to assume that people who name their children River, Rain, Joaquin, Liberty, and Summer have a unique outlook on life. It also just smacks of two people who entered adulthood in the 1960s and fully embraced the dreamy, free-spirited vibes of the era. Eventually, the spiritual journey of John Lee and Arlyn Bottom brought them and their first two children — son River and daughter Rain — to join a burgeoning religious movement known as the Children of God.

The still-growing family was living in one of the Children of God communes in Puerto Rico when they welcomed their third child, Joaquin. However, John Lee and Arlyn decided that they needed to get out of the group once they learned of its use of a controversial practice called flirty fishing — which is when a cult enlists its female members to seduce and even sleep with men outside of the group to entice them to join. Given that the Bottoms had two daughters at that point who could’ve eventually been used for that practice, they knew they had to escape, and did so when Joaquin was 3 years old. Actor Rose McGowan also spent part of her childhood in a Children of God commune. The group’s founder, David Berg, was later accused of rampant sexual misconduct and child sexual abuse, including by his own daughters and granddaughters, but he died in 1994 before he was ever formally charged with any crimes.

«Saltburn» is nothing if not deliciously campy, and anyone looking for that same vibe — and roughly the same number of on-screen cocktails — should absolutely watch «A Simple Favor.» The film, which is based on Darcey Bell’s novel of the same name, opens with mommy blogger Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick) recording a video about her missing best friend Emily Nelson (Blake Lively) … at which point the narrative backtracks to the day that Stephanie and Emily’s sons bonded, leading to a friendship between the two. They couldn’t be more different, with Stephanie sporting patterned socks contrasted against Emily’s stiletto Christian Louboutin heels, but they grow close over several cocktail hours. Then Emily vanishes without a trace, and Stephanie tries to get to the bottom of her disappearance — and is shocked by what she finds.

Stephanie, much like Oliver Quick, ultimately infiltrates Emily’s life in her absence, even striking up a romance with Emily’s bereft husband Sean (Henry Golding) … and she does so with glee (as does Oliver). «A Simple Favor» definitely has the same heightened feel as «Saltburn,» and it features as many delectable looking drinks to boot — so pair the film with an ice-cold dry martini. (For bonus points, use Aviation Gin, the brand once owned by Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, which is on display for most of the movie.)

After filming the «Spy Kids» trilogy, Daryl Sabara had numerous small roles in television series. He appeared in two episodes of «Wizards of Waverly Place» as T.J. Taylor, a young wizard who doesn’t like to play by the rules. He had one-episode appearances in some of the hottest shows of the 2000s, too, having guest starred in one episode of «Friends» in 2003 and played a patient at the center of a case in one episode of «House» in 2005. Sabara gave a memorable performance in one episode of «Criminal Minds,» as a teenager caught up in a child-porn human trafficking ring. Sabara appeared in seven episodes of «Weeds» between 2005 and 2012 as Tim Scottson, a boy with anger management issues who tangles with Nancy (Mary-Louise Parker) and her children repeatedly throughout the series. Sabara also joined the main cast of the short-lived sitcom «Resident Advisors» as Leslie Flowers, a male college student who is accidentally paired with a female roommate.

On the big screen, he played Kyle in the black comedy «World’s Greatest Dad,» with Robin Williams playing his father. Sabara has said it’s his favorite role as an actor. He also appeared in a slew of forgettable teen movies, such as, «Her Best Move,» «Worst. Prom. Ever,» «Normal Adolescent Behavior,» and «Teen Lust.»

During this period of his career, it also seems Sabara was trying to distance himself from Juni Cortez. The roles he took weren’t obvious picks for the former lead of a family-friendly spy franchise. In Rob Zombie’s 2007 «Halloween» prequel, for instance, Sabara plays a school bully who becomes the first victim of a young Michael Myers (Daeg Faerch). Sabara appeared five years later as author Edgar Rice Burroughs in the massive box-office bomb «John Carter.»

It’s unlikely that George Lucas and company could have imagined the monumental steps technology was to take in the many decades following the release of «Star Wars,» let alone its widespread accessibility to the public. And while AI has come under its fair share of controversy, users such as Caleb Riggs have found inventive ways of using it that have been positively received. 

Riggs’ TikTok account contains a wide array of fascinating pieces for such fan-favorite franchises as Marvel and DC. However, they primarily host «Star Wars» content, using the AI generator Midjourney to create their work. Similar to their ’90s-anime-inspired «Star Wars» post, several of Riggs’ creations fuse the sci-fi fantasy with anime subjects, such as «Demon Slayer,» «JoJos Bizarre Adventure,» and «Attack on Titan.» The artist has also placed the characters in a wide range of unique scenarios and eras, from opening Christmas presents to fighting in the Vietnam War to street dancing. They’ve even rendered them in the styles of different artists, including Swedish illustrator John Bauer and American painter Bob Ross. 

Whether or not you’re a fan of AI art, there’s no denying that the force has been with Riggs, who has accumulated nearly 60,000 followers and 4 million likes on TikTok. 

Ms. Marvel co-creator Sana Amanat admitted in an interview with Empire that Kamala Khan wasn’t originally conceived as an Inhuman: «Here’s a really important thing that people do not know – when we were thinking about the character of Kamala back, back, back in the day in 2012, 2013, when [fellow co-creator G.] Willow [Wilson] and myself were ideating, we originally wanted to make her a mutant.» However, it seems that Marvel’s push to promote Inhumans in the comics while Fox owned the film rights to the X-Men made the creators land on a different origin.

Not helping matters in making Kamala an Inhuman in the MCU is the fact that Marvel’s «Inhumans» was such a flop. The 2017 ABC show brought the Inhuman Royal Family to life, with Black Bolt (Anson Mount), Medusa (Serinda Swan), and Lockjaw among the characters who finally jumped from the comics page more than 50 years after debuting. However, the show was heavily criticized for its writing and acting and was eventually canceled. Ultimately, «Inhumans» left a sour taste in audiences’ mouths, so changing Kamala’s origin to being a mutant rather than an Inhuman wasn’t a difficult sell.

Given that «Eternals» is an ensemble film, Makkari’s super speed doesn’t get too much time in the spotlight, but when it does, it shines bright. Fans on social media have pointed out what makes her super speed so special, with multiple factors coming together to make it so. «I feel like these were more organic movements while maintaining that high speed illusion,» commented u/Dailyhabits on Reddit, noting that Makkari moves convincingly while at high speeds and her super speed scenes don’t rely heavily on slow motion like speedster scenes tend to (see Quicksilver’s big scene at the Pentagon in «X-Men: Days of Future Past,» for example).

Another fan on TikTok, @thatguymurphdog, also touched on the strength of Makkari’s super speed, citing it as so effective because it feels fast to the audience. They described it as «quick. flashy and full of energy.» Aside from how she looked and moved during simple transportation, u/Darkhaven was impressed with the use of Makkari’s super speed during combat situations. They wrote, «The way Makkari integrates air concussive force from her motion with her blows is awesome, and I’m a big fan of how she used the terrain to her advantage.»

Evidently, there’s a lot to appreciate about Makkari’s super speed in «Eternals.» One can only hope that as the Multiverse Saga continues to unfold, she, along with her fellow Eternals, will return to the MCU forefront and show fans what else is in her super-speedy arsenal.

Don’t get us wrong, not all the sex scenes in Lars von Trier’s «Antichrist» are awful. In fact, the opening scene is so beautifully shot and emotionally intense that some have crowned it one of the best sex scenes in cinema. However, one nude scene from «Antichrist» crosses the line.

Near the end of the movie, the nameless character played by Charlotte Gainsbourg undergoes a startling transformation. No longer is she a broken mother grieving her lost son; instead she has become like an animal. However, it’s ambiguous whether it’s because her grief (and her husband’s lack of empathy for it) has pushed her over the edge or she has been corrupted by some kind of ancient and powerful evil.

While having sex with her husband (Willem Dafoe), Gainsbourg’s character suddenly becomes hysterical, accusing him of not loving her anymore. Then she hits her husband in the crotch with a piece of firewood, instantly castrating him. Afterward, she falls to the ground, seemingly horrified at what she’s done. But nope, a moment later she is stroking his penis again. We’ll spare you the disturbing details, but let’s just say it only gets bloodier from there.

This scene marks the moment when the terror of existential dread morphs into revolting, gross-out horror. Knowing that the greatest strengths of this horror movie lie in its ability to get under your skin without relying on jump scares or bloody kills, this violent sex scene is where the movie falls apart.

Aubrey Plaza has been remarkably open about her stroke and experiences with paralysis and aphasia (which is a net positive, as it helps remove any stigmas when it comes to discussing something as distressingly common as strokes). As she told Fresh Air, she was simply visiting a friend at their apartment when, mid-sentence and discussing a Hilary Duff concert she’d attended with her sister, she blacked out briefly. When she came to, she couldn’t speak. Though her friends thought she was joking at first, they eventually realized that it was serious and called an ambulance.

«And the recovery was – you know, it was – there was no recovery. I mean when you have a stroke, you have a stroke,» Plaza explained. «There’s nothing you can do about it. Your brain has to heal itself.»

Plus, Plaza added, she still has lingering complications from the experience, even after cognitive therapy and a successful recovery. «But I still have – there’s still certain, you know, things that only I would notice that are kind of residual from – left over from that incident,» she said. «And since then, I’ve had some minor – they call them TIAs, which are transient ischemic attacks, that are tiny little strokes. So something’s up with my blood, but I don’t know what it is.»

During a 2021 interview with AwardsWatch, Colman Domingo said that he wants to play the villain in a superhero film. He wasn’t preferential to either Marvel or DC, but he did mention that he’s built a physique that would make him fit the evil mold. «I’m jumping in. When it comes to Marvel or DC, I think I’m ready now,» said Domingo. «You know I’m worked out, fit. I think I want to play a villain — I just want to be the villain. I don’t want to be the good guy.»

While he’s not broken any official ground on that front, Domingo is aware of the fan casting. He explained to Entertainment Tonight that no one had approached him regarding the role. «I know there’s talk and conversations around, and I don’t know how much is true. I don’t even get that from my team, I can’t tell if it’s true or not,» said the actor. «The fans are passionate. Somehow my name is out there in the world [and] I like the idea of just having your name called and someone speaking lovingly and kindly about something is a beautiful thing.»

Marvel is notoriously unkind about fan casting. «Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness» destroyed a popular «Fantastic Four» dream casting by killing John Krasinski, and «WandaVision» turned Evan Peter’s chance at reprising Quicksilver into a boner joke. All this to say, fans shouldn’t take Domingo’s politically lukewarm response as disinterest. He’s probably just setting reasonable expectations.

As «Lift» begins, Cyrus and his crew have stolen a valuable Van Gogh painting and fenced it to pay for the legitimate purchase of a one-of-a-kind NFT by a mysterious artist known as N8 (Jake Batalon). Interpol agent Gladwell, meanwhile, has them dead to rights on the theft, but her boss Huxley (Sam Worthington) forces her to make them a deal: Help them stop the transfer of $500 million in gold bars from war profiteer Lars Jorgensen (Jean Reno) to a deadly terrorist known as Leviathan.

To accomplish the mission, however, Cyrus and his team must borrow a jet from an eccentric billionaire (Oli Green), customize it into a stealth aircraft, and get it close enough to their target to be able to swap their radar signatures. Then, they’ll have their man inside air traffic control divert the flight to another location. This way they can make the ‘lift’ while a drone completes the flight to Zurich so as not to alert Jorgensen.

But Cyrus and his crew must also board the flight themselves, break into a secure vault in mid-air while avoiding a gang of ruthless henchmen, and transfer it to their own plane, all without Jorgensen ever finding out who they are. They hit their first snag when their engineer Luke bails on the mission, forcing them to improvise. But their attempt to get the plane diverted gets them noticed, and Jorgensen’s men move the gold to the stealth jet, ordering Cyrus and his team to Zurich at gunpoint. 

While 21xfour’s initial Adria Arjona Wonder Woman fan art only presents a half-body portrait, the artist further transformed the piece into full-body concept art on Instagram, this time with more comic-accurate touches to her clothing. The newly rendered piece received even more love than the previous illustration, with over 3,500 likes on Instagram alone and a multitude of positive comments. 

The strong reactions not only stem from the impressive quality of the art but also from the casting decision itself. Arjona’s star is rising, with upcoming projects putting her beside huge stars like Zoe Saldana and Glen Powell. And with that growing popularity, fans have expressed their interest in seeing her take on Wonder Woman in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s newly rebooted DC Universe. In the subreddit r/DC_Cinematic, u/Almighty_Push91 said Arjona would make for a stellar choice, commenting, «I believe that Adria Arjona should be the new DCU Wonder Woman. […] She has had rave reviews in Andor, overall, a good actress is 30, so young enough to continue a new franchise, and definitely looks the part.» Others similarly latched on to the idea, such as u/1NeoBeast, who replied, «She would be fantastic as Wonder Woman,» and u/davidfdm, who said, «I think that would be a great casting choice. She was great in ‘Good Omens’ as the modern witch.»

At the moment, outside of the Themyscira-set prequel series «Paradise Lost,» nothing has been announced regarding the DC Universe’s plans with Wonder Woman. With all planned follow-ups to the Patty Jenkins «Wonder Woman» duology getting the axe and Gal Gadot reportedly no longer playing the character, the door is wide open for a fresh take of the fan-favorite heroine. And if the fans have anything to say about it, Arjona is worth taking a chance on. 

The «Star Wars» canonical calendar counts years by their relation to «Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope» by labeling each year «Before the Battle of Yavin» (BBY) or «After the Battle of Yavin» (ABY). By that metric, Ajunta Pall hit the scene in 7,000 BBY and spent the next century-and-change becoming the fictional galaxy’s most infamous colonizer. A former Jedi spurned by the high council, Ajunta became the first Dark Jedi. He and his exiled followers later became the first Sith Lords when they literally pulled a «The Road to El Dorado» — one of the most underrated animated movies ever — on the people of Korriban known as the Sith.

A few thousand years before 137 ABY but after Ajunta stole the Sith name — the extended «Star Wars» lore doesn’t specify — Darth Andeddu became the first recorded Sith Lord to add the evil honorific «Darth.» It’s unclear whether he chose the title for himself or if someone bestowed it upon him, but it is at least through Andeddu that all Sith Lords receive their name. It’s also unclear if Andeddu demanded that his title be passed down to the other Sith or if the other Sith chose to bear his mantle out of sheer respect. Either way, the name stuck. 

While it may seem easiest to credit Andeddu with originating the moniker, its compatibility with the Sith’s vibe as a whole is thanks to Ajunta and his followers being the kind of villains who pretend to be gods. Is it any wonder that power-hungry monsters like that enjoy calling themselves «Dark Lords?»

At the movies and on television, Star Wars fans have only seen standard lightsabers. Those wielded by the likes of Yoda (Frank Oz) and Rey Skywalker (Daisy Ridley) use state-of-the-art tech and are a result of improvements made over time. Those that came centuries before haven’t gotten a chance to shine in live-action or animation; however, it has come to light that the first lightsaber could’ve gotten a cinematic spotlight all its own, courtesy of David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

The «Game of Thrones» creatives spoke to The Hollywood Reporter and discussed their ill-fated run at Lucasfilm. During the chat, they revealed they pitched a movie titled «The First Jedi.» «We wanted to do ‘The First Jedi.’ Basically how the Jedi Order came to be, why it came to be, the first lightsaber,» explained Benioff. Unfortunately, «The First Jedi» never got off the ground, as Lucasfilm wasn’t interested in the story the creatives had in mind.

If there’s one thing Disney and Lucasfilm are good at, it’s expanding on Star Wars lore. In due time, fans might see the definitive first lightsaber in action in some form — perhaps in James Mangold’s «Dawn of the Jedi.»
