A Reddit post titled ‘My husband only wanted one kid so he’s telling me to get an abortion’ has left users speechless after learning about a ‘selfish’ man who is expecting his pregnant wife to get rid of their baby.
Reddit is popular for keeping users engaged with some of the most amusing stories pertaining to real-life situations. From a man traveling halfway across the world after escaping his cheating ex-fiancee to a pregnant woman refusing to eat, there is no dearth of drama on the platform. But, the story about a husband finding issues with raising his own child is nothing like you’ve ever heard so far.

The unidentified Reddit user and her husband have been together for five years. The lady had expressed her desire to have her own children when she and her husband started to date. But, he had established that he wasn’t ready to have kids owing to his own upbringing in a dysfunctional family.
Her husband is one of eight children born to his parents. He is the second child and his elder brother is severely disabled. So, the absent parents dumped the responsibility of their eldest child on the Reddit user’s husband since the time he was a kid.
Once he finished school, he was further burdened with the responsibilities of his six younger siblings and he took care of all of their needs such as bathing and feeding, while compromising his own life.
His parents were abusive to each other but refused to end their marriage, which ended up impacting her husband and his siblings severely. So much so, that the woman’s husband was convinced he could never be a good father to his own child and would take after his toxic parents.
However, he agreed to seek therapy once he started dating his future wife, and with time, he started to believe he could be a father one day.
Pregnant woman is asked to choose between her twins
After multiple long conversations about having children during their two years of marriage, the couple decided to get pregnant but her husband was only willing to raise one child. He had established he didn’t want another.
Little did the Reddit user know how she would have the most difficult choice to make when she went for her ultrasound and found out that she was carrying twins.
She was thrilled to let her husband know about the same as he was at work when she found out. While she expected him to be nervous or scared upon learning about becoming parents to twins, he became mad at his wife his wife for being pregnant with twins, like she had a choice!
He told his wife he wasn’t ready to be a father to two children, so she would have to terminate her pregnancy. When she refused, he went on to suggest she only kept one of the twins and aborted the other.
The pregnant Reddit user was shocked at her husband’s unreasonable demands and they ended up having a heated argument. It was also the first time she saw her husband’s anger get the best of him as he yelled at her.
He called his wife selfish for carrying twins despite him making it clear he could only father one child and walked out of the house. His wife hasn’t been able to reach him on his phone and she doesn’t know where he is while she’s losing her sleep over his ultimatum.
Reddit users think the husband needs therapy
Reddit users are shocked by the “selfish” husband’s demands, which many say are simply impossible to fulfil.
“The guy needs a lot more therapy,” said one.
Another added: “He needs therapy you need someone better.”
“Your husband is just selfish. My first response would be divorce,” wrote one.
“Omg, that’s vile. He needs major intensive therapy and she needs to leave now,” read another comment.
“Have him talk to his therapist. I am guessing this is just a massive anxiety issue. Your mental health is important too, so figure out what you need,” advised another.
