The Reddit user and her fiance have been dating for six years and she’s currently 8 months pregnant. He got into the relationship with full custody of his two kids – an 11-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old son.
The pregnant woman has no issues with her husband’s “great” kids from his previous relationship. The youngest kid has hyperactive ADHD and the Reddit user has started to feel the kids have gotten clingy. She doesn’t know if it’s always been the case or if the hormones from pregnancy have made her irritable.
She watches the kids during the day while her husband is at work as she’s taken off from her her job and isn’t employed currently. Her fiance rarely comes for home lunch.
One day, she went to make lunch for the kids and they both decided to have ramen noodles. After preparing the lunch for the kids, she fixed a salad for herself and she was starved by now.
Her fiance comes home unexpectedly and asks if he could have some of the salad but it wasn’t enough for two. So, the wife made another salad for herself, when the daughter started to whine because she wanted to have it too.
11-year-old daughter throws her food on the floor
The pregnant lady was ticked off because she had given the daughter the choice to have salad earlier but she went with ramen still.
The daughter got whinier when the Reddit user reminded her of the option she gave her and even dropped her food on the floor. The pregnant woman threw her salad on the table and walked away.
The 11-year-old girl started to slap the salad all over her face to show how excited she was about eating it, which she does every time she eats, says the Reddit user.
After not being able to eat despite making the food twice for herself, the pregnant woman walks away and sits on the couch refusing to eat. She tells her fiance she doesn’t want to make the salad for the third time and that she rather would stay hungry.
But, the fiance thinks the wife was being over dramatic. He thought it was petty of the pregnant woman to starve herself because others had eaten her food.
The woman blames her fiance for teaching her how to say no to others, instead of correcting his own daughter.
Users feel bad for the pregnant woman
The majority of the users think the pregnant woman’s family isn’t treating her with the respect she deserves for all that she does for them despite being pregnant.
The “lack of empathy” has shocked many who think the Reddit user must start focusing on herself.
One commented: “Firstly, you don’t come home expecting food without texting first. Secondly, that child is ELEVEN. It’s fully ridiculous for her to behave that way. Thirdly you don’t fuck with a pregnant person’s food. Not ever.”
“These kids don’t respect you. This man doesn’t respect you. It sounds like your partner got mad at YOU when HIS kid disrespected you by dumping out food. Also, you are 8 months pregnant growing his child. He should be coming home and cooking for you and not the other way around,” said another.
A third person wrote: “That 11-year-old should be disciplined for wasting good food and making a mess of herself. She’s not acting her age, and her father isn’t disciplining her.”
