Are Ronnie Ortiz-Magro and Jen Harley Still Together? Jersey Shore Update

    [ad_1]

Developed by SallyAnn Salsano, ‘Jersey Shore‘ follows several young men and women from New Jersey and the surrounding area in different vacation homes. The reality show has introduced the viewers to many entertaining personalities throughout its run. Many of these cast members have garnered an impressive fan following for their performance each season. With so many people staying together, love, heartbreak, betrayal, and drama are integral parts of the show. Hence, fans have always been heavily invested in the status of different relationships seen on the show.

One of the most well-known couples from the MTV series is Ronnie Ortiz-Magro and Jen Harley, whose romantic journey cannot be described as anything short of riveting. The pair have had their share of heartache and altercations that keep the public invested in how the situation unfolds between them. Nevertheless, with such a long and tumultuous history between the two, many are curious to know if Ronnie and Jen are still together and, if not, what exactly they are up to these days. Well, here’s what we know about the same!

    Ronnie And Jen’s Journey Together

Cast member Ronnie Ortiz-Magro and Jen Harley’s relationship became public in July 2017 after he injured his hand during a night out in Las Vegas, Nevada. At the time, the identity of Ronnie’s lady love was not known though it was reported that he had tried to protect his girlfriend from a glass bottle that someone had thrown near them as they enjoyed their time in the VIP section at TAO nightclub. The bottle had shattered on coming in contact with the reality TV star’s hand, giving him multiple injuries.

In December 2017, Ronnie and Jen proudly announced that they were pregnant and were looking forward to becoming parents. Their daughter, Ariana Sky Magro, was born in early April 2018, and the new parents were delighted to have the opportunity to raise their newborn baby. However, in late April of the same year, the couple split temporarily, apparently still living in the same house in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The separation came after Ronnie and Jen had a massive fight over social media, where he allegedly made some comments regarding her character, and his girlfriend fought back. Furthermore, during a live stream on Instagram, the couple was involved in a minor physical altercation. Ronnie and Jen’s dynamic can be termed as volatile as the two soon became involved in what can only be considered an on-again-off-again relationship.

Shortly after the big fight in April 2018, Jen was arrested in June 2018 for physically assaulting Ronnie when he came to visit her in Las Vegas. However, the two were soon back together and even posted cute pictures with baby Ariana. The next big incident occurred after the couple’s big fight during a New Year’s Eve party at the Hustler Club in Las Vegas on January 1, 2019.

Ronnie decided to file a report on January 3, 2019, regarding the situation, adding that Jen had allegedly thrown a glass ashtray at him while the two were arguing. However, by April 2019, the pair was seemingly back together and celebrated Ariana’s birthday with much gusto. They even staged a wedding combined with all traditional elements and a kiss that left the fans confused.

Following up on the complaint filed by Ronnie in January 2019, Jen was arrested in May 2019 in Las Vegas. Moreover, in October 2019, Ronnie was tased and arrested after he got into a physical altercation with Jen in Los Angeles, California. According to the official reports, no harm came to Ariana, yet Ronnie had to be subdued when he refused to comply with the orders. After such a complicated journey, one cannot help but be curious about the current status of Ronnie and Jen’s relationship, and we are here to explore the same!

Are Ronnie Ortiz-Magro And Jen Harley Still Together?

As of writing, Ronnie and Jen are not in a relationship. Regardless, the two still co-parent their lovely daughter Ariana who seems to be cherished by both her parents. In early 2020, Ronnie met Saffire Matos, and the two were dating after getting to know each other for four-five months. The pair got engaged in June 2021, but Ronnie called off the betrothal a year later and decided to focus on his mental health. The reality TV star has long struggled with mental health issues and alcohol addiction and entered rehab sometime before February 2019 to battle his depression and alcohol abuse.

In April 2021, Ronnie was arrested on domestic violence charges, though the incident did not involve Jen. His daughter Ariana, who was staying with him then, was removed and taken to a safer location. Meanwhile, Jen seems to enjoy her time with her kids, Mason and Ariana. She got her relator license in 2020 and has made impressive strides in the industry through her work with Realty ONE group. In July 2022, Jen shared pictures of her vacation to Ponza, Italy, which hinted at her being in a possible relationship. We wish Ronnie and Jen the best in their lives and hope they and their loved ones have a wonderful future.

  • Are Luis Morrison and Cally Jane Beech Still Together? Love Island Update

Are Luis Morrison and Cally Jane Beech Still Together? Love Island Update

    [ad_1]

Created by Brent Baker, Mark Busk-Cowley, Tom Gould, and Joe Scarrat, ‘Love Island’ is a British dating series that serves as a revived version of an eponymous reality show from 2005. The new iteration brings several young men and women to a beautiful remote property in Mallorca, Spain. To remain in the house, the contestants must be coupled with one of their castmates, and anyone without a partner during a coupling event is eliminated from the game. As the season progresses, new faces are added to the show to keep things fresh and exciting.

All this leads to the season finale, where the public chooses one couple as the winner of the £50,000 cash prize. One of the most talked about coupes from the show is Luis Morrison and Cally Jane Beech, whose journey helped them garner several fans over the years. The two were a part of the show’s inaugural iteration that aired in 2015, and their fans are curious about their current status. Have the two reality TV stars been able to maintain their bond, or have they parted ways? Let’s find out about the same!

Luis and Cally’s Love Island Journey

Luis Morrison, a 20-year-old footballer from London, entered the villa on the first day of season 1 of ‘Love Island.’ For the first coupling, he was chosen by Zoe Basia Brown as a partner based on first impressions. On the sixth day, the islanders were asked to recouple, which led Luis to partner with Danielle Pyne. The pairing on Day 11 saw Luis with Lauren Richardson, and his other love interest during the show was Bethany Rogers when she decided to choose him to go on a date.

However, When Cally Jane Beech, a 23-year-old former Miss Great Britain turned dental nurse from Hull, UK, entered the show on Day 21, there was an immediate connection between her and Luis. The primary reason behind this was that before the show, Luis and Cally had once been a couple but decided to split, given the distance between London and Hull. Their time on the reality series served as a perfect opportunity for the two to rekindle their romance, and they grabbed the opportunity readily.

Luis was Cally’s first date, and the two stayed together after reconnecting in season 1. Despite the various challenges that came their way, the pair faced their problems head-on and secured a place in the top 4 during the final episode. Luis and Cally finished the show in fourth place and had a large fanbase rooting for their performance throughout their time on the show. Albeit, just how well did their fairytale romance survive in the real world? Well, we are here to find out about the same!

Are Luis and Cally Still Together?

No, Luis and Cally are not together anymore. After their time on the show, the couple had what can at best be described as an on-again-off-again relationship. The pair welcomed their beautiful daughter Vienna Morrison Beech in May 2017, yet reportedly split after just ten weeks of their daughter’s birth due to what Cally hinted as Luis’ unfaithfulness. Surprisingly, in December 2018, the couple was back together and ready to put the past behind them. They shared the news of their patch-up with the public and expressed their excitement for the upcoming year.

Nevertheless, in September 2018, Luis and Cally split again, with the latter taking Vienna with her to Hull. The separation this time seemed permanent as many claimed that this was the first time Cally had initiated a break-up rather than Luis. Initially, the two had reportedly decided to stay good friends to co-parent Vienna efficiently, but things turned downward in October 2018, when Cally started bashing Luis regarding his behavior on social media.

The former Miss Great Britain stated that she had to do everything independently, and Luis was not a helpful parent. She claimed that he had cheated on her when the two were together, which contributed to their separation. Meanwhile, Luis maintained that he was regretful about the fight on social media and that he did take his responsibilities towards his daughter seriously. He further stated that as a single father, he had the right to move on and live his life, leading to a spat between the two that did not seem to resolve.

Regardless of their past, the two seem quite happy with their separate lives and love their daughter, Vienna, dearly. The adorable girl is often seen on her parents’ social media posts, with her mother, Cally, even maintaining an Instagram account for her. As of writing, Cally works as a singer, a songwriter, and a content creator; she has a massive following on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat, where she posts various content.

On the other hand, former footballer Luis works as an entrepreneur and is affiliated with Blueprint Sports, Celebrity Cars, and ACTIVE. He welcomed his son Romeo with his then-girlfriend Chloe Elizabeth in October 2021. Although, in June 2022, the couple broke up after the latter claimed that her partner was not pulling his weight as a parent and was often out partying. The two seem to be co-parenting their son and do not seem to have gotten back together. We wish Luis, Cally, and their close ones the best in their lives and hope for success in their professional and personal lives.

  • Are Mike Boateng and Priscilla Anyabu Still Together? Love Island Update

Are Mike Boateng and Priscilla Anyabu Still Together? Love Island Update

    [ad_1]

Created by Brent Baker, Mark Busk-Cowley, Tom Gould, and Joe Scarrat, ‘Love Island’ is a British dating show that brings several young men and women to a beautiful villa. Each participant aims to find a romantic match for themselves and establish themselves as one of the front-running couples throughout the season. Anyone not paired after a coupling event is eliminated, and new faces are brought in to spice things up. The couples must make the public believe in their love as they are the ones who decide the winner of the £50,000 cash prize.

However, it is not just the winning couple that has the viewers’ eyes on them, and many of the cast members retain a large fan following after their time on the show. Consider Mike Boateng and Priscilla Anyabu, one of the beloved couples from the show’s sixth iteration, whom the public followed eagerly even after they exited the reality series. Many of their fans cannot help but wonder if the relationship was able to survive in the real world, and we are here to investigate the same!

Mike And Priscilla’s Love Island Journey

Michael “Mike” Boateng appeared on the first day of ‘Love Island’ season 6. Based on first impressions, he coupled up with Leanne Amaning, but on Day 2, Jess Gale, a new entry, decided to steal him for herself, leaving Leanne single. Nevertheless, after the next coupling event, Mike and the latter were back together and remained strong until Day 18, when he paired up with Sophie Piper during the coupling, leading to Leanne’s elimination.

Priscilla Anyabu entered on the 23rd day when she and several other girls joined the boys living in Casa Amor. After a series of competitions and flirty interactions, the original islanders had to stay with their current partner or form a new pair with one of the latest entries. Given Sophie’s elimination on Day 22, Mike was single and chose Priscilla as his partner. Since then, they became one of the strongest couples in the season and garnered a huge fan following outside the villa’s walls.

Despite their fair share of ups and downs, Mike and Priscilla were a formidable team and bagged a few victories, including the baby challenge. Towards the end of the season, he even asked her to officially be his girlfriend, an offer she gladly accepted. Mike and Priscilla’s bond allowed them to be one of the top 5 couples of the season. Albeit, just before the final three days, the two were dumped from the island, marking the end of their journey to victory.

Despite this, the couple seemed quite happy and were glad to have found each other on the show. Albeit, did their relationship survive the test of time? Let’s dive right in and get the answers.

Are Mike And Priscilla Still Together?

As of writing, Mike and Priscilla are no longer a couple. Fans were first alerted to a possible separation between the two in June 2021 after they removed some of their pictures from their social media. Furthermore, the reality TV stars had stopped following one another on social media, which was another significant sign of a possible split. According to Mike, the breakup came after 15 months of being together as they supported each other through their life after the villa and the pandemic shortly after their time on the reality series.

During their relationship, Mike and Priscilla used their collective platforms to raise awareness about issues close to their hearts and support the Black Lives Matter movement. The two even had the honor of presenting the MOBO awards in December 2020. While together, Mike and Priscilla often worked with each other in professional and personal capacities, having a loving relationship that made many of their fans happy.

Multiple reasons led to the separation between the two reality stars. Mike confessed that he had felt a bit pressured to represent “black love” on the reality show following his initial romance with Leanne Amaning. His relationship with Priscilla put the two under the same pressure, even though they often commented on the contrary. Mike went on to confess that living together with Priscilla in such close quarters made both of them wish for some space.

The two separated for some time in December 2020 but then got back together. During their brief split, Mike came in contact with his former ‘Love Island’ partner Leanne, though nothing happened between them. He even stated that he had immediately made Priscilla aware of the latter’s presence in his life not to create any issues. Based on Mike’s responses, it seems unlikely he would consider Leanne a potential romantic partner anytime soon.

Despite their best efforts, Mike and Priscilla realized by February 2021 that it might be better to part ways. Unlike what many might expect, their decision to break up was made through a mature conversation. The two did want to make their relationship work, yet did not want to force something that did not exist. Hence, the two decided they might be better off as friends and remain on amicable terms. In fact, the two can still be seen in some of the posts on each other’s Instagram, especially those regarding their performance in ‘Love Island.’

As for their professional lives, Mike is a model based in London and is affiliated with Oxygen Model Management. He was also one of the celebrities in the twelfth iteration of ‘Ex on the Beach,’ and the second season of ‘Celebrity Ex on the Beach’ saw Mike’s ex Lisa Steele make an appearance.

Meanwhile, Priscilla works as a presenter and model and has not left her foray into reality TV behind. The Battersea, UK, native was a part of the 37th installment of ‘The Challenge,’ AKA ‘The Challenge: Spies, Lies & Allies,’ where she made it as far as the tenth episode. We wish Mike and Priscilla the best in their lives and hope they have a wonderful future ahead.

  • Where is Phillip Geans Now? Update

Where is Phillip Geans Now? Update

    [ad_1]

A cold case from 1988 was solved more than two decades later thanks to new evidence and a flurry of testimony from people close to the ones involved. Investigation Discovery’s ‘On the Case With Paula Zahn: The Doorbell Rang’ focuses on the January 1988 slaying of teenager Theresa Burns and how the authorities finally zeroed in on the culprit. So, if you’re wondering what happened in this case, we’ve got you covered.

    How Did Theresa Burns Die?

Theresa Joann Burns was born in September 1971 in South Bend, Indiana. At the time of the incident, she lived in Mishawaka in St. Joseph County, Indiana, along with her family. The 16-year-old was a sophomore at Mishawaka High School, and the morning of her death, she was granted permission to return home to change clothes. But sadly, Theresa’s life came to an abrupt end not too long after that.

On January 11, 1988, Theresa returned home and was talking on the phone with her boyfriend; she intended to get back to school after that. The boyfriend heard Theresa’s doorbell ring around the time they ended their phone call at around 11:30 am. When her older brother, Steve, came home that evening, he discovered the teenager on the floor in a pool of blood and semi-naked. Theresa had been shot six times in the head and face with a .22-caliber weapon.

    Who Killed Theresa Burns?

The authorities didn’t have much to go on back in 1988; while they collected samples for a sexual assault kit, no seminal material was detected upon analysis. At the time, Phillip Geans, who was dating Theresa’s best friend, was considered a person of interest. At the time, he was 18-years-old, and friends testified that he was obsessed with Theresa and wanted to be her boyfriend. However, with no concrete evidence, the case didn’t get much further, thus turning cold.

Then, in 2013, the police reopened the investigation, and this time, they caught a break in the case. Phillip was arrested in December 2013 after his parents turned over his gun to the police; they didn’t want him to have it. The firearm was tested and then confirmed to be the weapon used to kill Theresa. Later testimony revealed that Phillip and his friend, James Lewis, had stolen the .22-caliber revolver from another friend’s grandmother’s home in 1987.

As the investigation continued, several people came forward with statements that pointed the finger in Phillip’s direction. Three people testified that he showed them a gun at a party a few weeks after the murder; the authorities believed it was the murder weapon. Tom Doty, a friend, stated that Phillip and someone else had talked about playing Russian roulette with it at the time.

One of Phillip’s former girlfriends, Corinne Hartwig, said he admitted to killing Theresa using a stolen gun. Furthermore, she noted that Phillip talked about Theresa multiple times a week. James also said that Phillip admitted to the murder a few years after it occurred. Finally, two inmates who spent time with Phillip in prison testified that he had confessed to raping and killing Theresa.

    Where is Phillip Geans Today?

The prosecution also brought attention to Phillip’s prior criminal history. He had multiple felony and misdemeanor convictions, with five of them being violent offenses. In September 2015, Phillip, then 45, was found guilty of killing Theresa. During sentencing, he maintained his innocence and claimed that he was hit multiple times on the day of the slaying, leading him not to be able to wake up. Nevertheless, he was sentenced to a maximum of 60 years in prison. Records indicate that he remains incarcerated at the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City, LaPorte County. The earliest Phillip can be released is in 2044.

  • Where is Michael Jackson’s Doctor Today? Update

Where is Michael Jackson’s Doctor Today? Update

    [ad_1]

In June 2009, the King of Pop’s sudden and unexpected death left the world reeling. At the time, Michael Jackson was prepping for 50 shows at the O2 Arena in London, England, as part of his comeback tour. But in the time leading up to the shows, Michael died, and the manner of death was ruled as a homicide. Back then, his personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, was blamed for his administration of propofol, a powerful anesthetic. Fox’s ‘Who Really Killed Michael Jackson?’ focuses on the reasons behind the legendary singer’s death and what role Conrad played in it. So, if you’re wondering where he might be today, here’s what we know.

    Who is Dr. Conrad Murray?

Conrad Murray was born on the island of Grenada in the Caribbean. He was initially raised by his grandparents and had an absent father whom he didn’t meet until the age of 25. After schooling, Conrad worked as a customs agent, an insurance underwriter, and a school teacher. Eventually, he moved to the United States and got his medical degree, setting up practices in Texas and Nevada. Over time, Conrad’s medical practices took off; besides having celebrity clients, he also served people from lesser privileged backgrounds.

Sometime in 2006, Michael’s daughter, Paris, fell ill during a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada. Someone from his entourage knew Conrad and called him over, leading to their meeting. Conrad treated Paris and ended up becoming friends with her father. Then, in May 2009, Michael hired Conrad as his personal physician for the comeback tour, reportedly on a salary of $150,000 a month. However, the comeback show’s promoter, Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), claimed a contract was not yet in place before everything happened.

On June 25, 2009, Conrad found Michael dead after claiming to step away from him momentarily to go to the bathroom. The autopsy revealed that he had died from lethal levels of propofol in his system. During the initial investigation, Conrad told the police that he had been treating Michael for insomnia and had been administering a cocktail of drugs to help with sleep. Conrad had given Michael propofol every night for about two months before the incident.

While Conrad claimed to give Michael 50mg of propofol every night, he hoped to wean him off the drug over time. So, in the days leading up to the death, Conrad began giving Michael a combination of different drugs, and on June 25, it was 25mg of propofol diluted with lidocaine. He was also given Valium, Ativan, and Versed. However, the autopsy report indicated Michael had high levels of propofol in his system, more than what Conrad suggested.

Conrad was eventually tried for involuntary manslaughter. During the proceedings, a paradoxical image of the doctor emerged. While there were no complaints about Conrad’s medical record, his personal life wasn’t the same. He had fathered at least children with different women despite being married. In 1999, during a court visit over child support in relation to a kid Conrad fathered with another woman, he admitted to having a history of having kids and leaving the mothers.

It was also revealed that Conrad was in dire financial straits. He owed more than $780,000, including unpaid rent for office space and medical equipment in Nevada and Texas, $100,000 in mortgage on his home in Las Vegas, and outstanding student loans worth $70,000. This was around when he accepted the lucrative job as Michael’s physician. The trial also featured testimony from his former girlfriends. Furthermore, Conrad was criticized for not calling 911 after finding Michael unresponsive. However, he maintained that he tried to resuscitate the singer.

Where is Dr. Conrad Murray Today?

At Conrad Murray’s trial, the defense tried to argue that Michael gave himself the propofol while the doctor was not in the bedroom. The prosecution asserted that Conrad was reckless in using propofol without the proper monitoring equipment. In November 2011, he was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to serve four years behind bars. All throughout, Conrad maintained his innocence.

Conrad was released from prison in October 2013. By then, his license to practice medicine was suspended in California and Nevada, in addition to being revoked in Texas. In 2016, Conrad released a book called ‘This Is It: The Secret Lives of Dr. Conrad Murray and Michael Jackson.’ Post-release, Conrad lived in a condo near Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and hoped to maintain a low profile.

Conrad said, “I just want my privacy. I have lost a great deal. I’ve lost everything. Everything I’ve amassed has been taken from me as a result of an unjust verdict. I am, and I remain an innocent man.” In 2016, he was still seeing patients but said they were only consultations; he wasn’t prescribing medication or getting paid. As of 2019, Conrad practiced medicine in the Caribbean and still hoped to get his medical license reinstated in the US. He has maintained that Michael administered the propofol himself and claimed that the singer hid his opioid addiction.

Where is the Survivor and the Abusive Husband Today? Update

    [ad_1]

An ominous visit to the authorities in February 2004 led to a strange confession from Susan Hamlin. But as the police dug deeper, it was clear that there was more to the story than what was apparent, which eventually led to the arrest of her husband, Richard Hamlin. Investigation Discovery’s ‘Evil Lives Here: Trapped in Hell’ focuses on the years of physical and mental abuse that Richard put Susan through and its aftermath. So, let’s find out what happened then, shall we?

Who Are Susan and Richard Hamlin?

Susan and Richard were both lawyers and met at law school. The couple married when she was 27-years-old and soon had a life many could only dream of. Richard served as the Deputy District Attorney for Sacramento County, California, between 1985 and 1989. Then, he went on to become a Criminal Defense Attorney. At that time, Susan took up the role of a full-time mother to care for their four children.

But that changed over the years, with Richard facing financial trouble. He had declared bankruptcy in his law practice, and the family’s luxurious home was in foreclosure. Things suddenly turned in February 2004 when Susan and Richard went to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department. There, Susan made two shocking confessions. First, she claimed that she was involved in a plan to have Richard killed as part of a satanic cult ritual that her father was also involved with. It didn’t stop there. Susan then told the police that she had molested her own children.

However, the authorities didn’t believe her admission. At the time, they noticed that Susan had a broken nose and cracked ribs. A closer look revealed that a couple of weeks prior, the police investigated when Richard accidentally shot himself at home and saw that Susan had bruises on her face. One of Richard and Susan’s daughters once told her teacher that she couldn’t come to school because her mother had broken ribs. Once Susan and Richard were interrogated separately, things began to clear up. Susan told the police that there was never a satanic cult.

At one point, Richard claimed that Susan’s father raped and abused her and urged her to talk about it. But Susan said that her father never did such a thing. According to her, Richard was an abusive partner, and she was regularly beaten and tortured. Susan said if she didn’t say what Richard wanted to hear, things turned out to be horrifying for her. She added, “[He’d] punch me in the head and … beat me just bloody. He’d hold a gun in my mouth. He would put a gun to my head and ask if I was ready to die. He would tell me what to tell him happened when I was a kid, and I would just have to make anything up.”

Susan continued, “…Anything outrageous to fill the gaps.” The kids also told the police about the abuse they witnessed. One of them recalled that Richard dragged their mother by her hair once. In the time leading up to the incident, Susan claimed that Richard forced her to sleep beside him while he held a loaded gun to her chest. Sometime in February 2004, Susan alleged that Richard swung a sword around her, choked her, and hit her. He repeatedly threatened her in the past as well. When Susan was examined in March, she had swollen ears, bruised face, a broken nose, broken ribs, and bruises on the rest of her body.

    Where is Richard Hamlin Today?

At Richard Hamlin’s trial, the prosecution stated that he was financially struggling, leading him to try and extort $1 million from the father-in-law by claiming Susan was abused. At one point, Richard even told their kids that Susan was possessed and that he had to beat her to get the demons out.

In January 2006, Richard was convicted of torture, three counts of spousal abuse, making death threats, and three counts of child endangerment. In September of the same year, then 46-years-old, he was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole. For now, Richard remains incarcerated at California Health Care Facility in Stockton, San Joaquin County. His parole was denied in 2011 and 2019.

    Where is Susan Hamlin Today?

Susan Hamlin and the kids had a long road to recovery after the ordeal. They were diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and underwent therapy for it. Susan and the children were vehemently against Richard getting out on parole. She said, “He (Richard) is claiming to have a newfound faith, but he was in leadership in our church and quoted Bible verses to support beating me. He claims that he has read many books and taken classes on domestic violence while incarcerated and so is a changed man.”

Thankfully for the family, Richard remains in prison. Susan still lives in El Dorado Hills, albeit in a different home. She got her law degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in California. After the case ended, Susan worked as Vice President/Branch Manager for a bank for over a decade. Then she worked as a National Sales Manager for a hospitality company. Finally, for the past five years, Susan has been the Director of a social service organization.

  • Where is Derek and Nancy Haysom’s Daughter Today? Update

Where is Derek and Nancy Haysom’s Daughter Today? Update

    [ad_1]

In a case that got global attention and law enforcement of various nations involved, ABC’s ’20/20: Would You Kill For Love?’ chronicles the sensational story of Elizabeth Haysom, who conspired with her boyfriend, Jens Soering, to murder her parents, Derek and Nancy Haysom, in Virginia in April 1985. The killer couple was finally nabbed months after they fled from the police, traveling to various countries. It is a case that will intrigue every viewer, and rightly so. Who is Elizabeth Haysom? Let’s find out then, shall we?

    Who Is Elizabeth Haysom?

Elizabeth Roxanne Haysom was born in April 1964 in Salisbury, Rhodesia (now Harare, Zimbabwe) to retired Canadian steel executive Derek William Reginald Haysom and his artist wife, Nancy Astor Langhorne “Cita” Benedict Haysom. She was the only child born after her parents, who had five children in between them from their prior marriages, got married in 1960. She was enrolled in a boarding school in Switzerland before being admitted to Wycombe Abbey in England.

Though beautiful and intelligent, Elizabeth had a tough time fitting in. As per reports, she felt pressurized by her parents’ expectations and believed they controlled every aspect of her life. Elizabeth messed up her grades and interview for Trinity College, Cambridge, in her final year at Wycombe Abbey. Around that time, she got hooked on drugs and traveled through Europe. Finally, she returned to her parents, and the three of them moved to Virginia after Derek’s retirement.

Elizabeth got admission to the University of Virginia in the fall of 1984 as an Echols Scholar. It was there she met Jens Soering, a baby-faced German who was the son of a West German diplomat. They instantly hit off, but her parents approved of their relationship. When they returned home during the term breaks, the couple used to write long, passionate letters to each other, underlying their shared hatred for their parents.

On March 29, 1985, Elizabeth and Jens rented a gray Chevette and drove to Washington, DC, where they stayed at the Georgetown Marriott. They went to the movies, roamed around the city, visited several restaurants, and returned to Charlottesville after spending the weekend. On April 3, 1985, Elizabeth was notified by the police that her parents had been brutally murdered at their home in Virginia. The couple even attended the funeral together.

Initially, the investigators dismissed the couple as suspects. But owing to discrepancies in their story, the authorities soon started to suspect them. Feeling the heat, the couple fled the country, going from Paris to Luxembourg under disguise and pretenses. They planned to go to Thailand to obtain Jens’ birth certificate, get married, and jointly apply for Thai citizenship. They rented a car, intending to drive to Thailand, but were stopped at the Bulgarian border.

The pair also met with an accident and had to appear in the local traffic court. After that, Elizabeth and Jens flew to Thailand, made false documents, and traveled to Singapore and Moscow before finally coming to England. The couple stayed under aliases there and conned financial institutions and stores in London until they got caught in April 1986.

    Where is Elizabeth Haysom Today?

After London police arrested Elizabeth and Jens, American authorities visited them in May 1986 regarding the murder of the Haysoms. Jens confessed to the crime and was indicted by a grand jury on murder charges in June 1986. On the other hand, Elizabeth wrote to Jens in October 1986 that she intended to plead guilty. In May 1987, she voluntarily returned to Virginia, where she took a plea deal, blaming the murder of her parents on Jens.

In August 1987, Elizabeth pleaded guilty to being an accessory to the murders before the fact and even testified at Jens’ trial. She was sentenced to 90 years in prison – two consecutive terms of 45 years for each murder. Elizabeth was incarcerated at the Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women in Troy, Virginia. According to her court records, she was first eligible for parole in 1995 but was denied. However, her sentence came with mandatory parole, meaning she would have to be discharged in 2032 after serving 45 years of her conviction.

While serving her sentence, Elizabeth wrote many articles for several publications. On November 25, 2019, it was announced that both she and Jens were to be discharged on parole and extradited to their respective home countries. It was also declared that the decision was not based on merit, but due to a cost-cutting measure by the state. After serving over 30 years of prison term, Elizabeth was transferred to the custody of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. She was deported to Canada in January 2020.

Where is Wedding Season Filmed? TV Show Filming Locations

    [ad_1]

Created by Oliver Lyttelton, Hulu’s ‘Wedding Season’ is a British action romantic comedy series that revolves around Katie and Stefan’s love affair, which begins at a wedding, even though the former has a fiancé. Fast forward to two months later, she is getting married, but in a bloody turn of events, her new husband and all his family members are found murdered at the wedding. Naturally, Stefan becomes a prime suspect in the eyes of the police, though he thinks that Katie is the one with the bloody hands.

Since nobody knows the truth, it leaves the pair no choice but to go on the run while trying to prove their innocence. The genre-blending series includes several intriguing elements from different genres within the enthralling narrative, keeping the viewers hooked on each episode. In addition, the transition in the backdrops as Katie and Stefan try to evade the suspicions is bound to boggle one’s mind about the actual filming sites. In case you are one such curious soul, you might be interested in what we have to share regarding the same!

    Wedding Season Filming Locations

‘Wedding Season’ is filmed in England, Scotland, and the US, specifically in Manchester, London, Nevada, and California. The principal photography for the inaugural season of the British series reportedly commenced in August 2021 and wrapped up in February 2022. Now, let’s follow the duo and learn about the specific locations that appear in the series!

    Manchester, England

As per reports, most of ‘Wedding Season’ is lensed in Manchester, a city in England’s Greater Manchester. From the looks of it, the team travels across the city to tape different scenes against suitable backdrops. The city is home to several famous museums and galleries, including the Science and Industry Museum, the Manchester Art Gallery, and the Manchester Jewish Museum, some of which you may spot in the series.

    London, England

A few portions of ‘Wedding Season’ are taped in and around London, the capital and largest city of England and the United Kingdom. Situated on the River Thames in southeast England, Big Smoke is considered one of the major global cities as it influences many fields such as arts, fashion, entertainment, education, media, tourism, and more.

    Scotland, United Kingdom

Some pivotal sequences for ‘Wedding Season’ season 1 were recorded on location in Scotland, a country in the United Kingdom. In particular, the filming unit set up camp in and around Loch Fyne, a sea loch located on the west coast of Argyll and Bute. The water body seemingly provides the backdrop of the lake in a few scenes of the debut season.

In a late August 2022 interview with What’s On Disney Plus, Gavin Drea (Stefan) was asked about his favorite locations during the production. He said, “I mean, they’re all…we had a beautiful day filming on a lake in Scotland, which the weather actually turned out great in the end, which we were very lucky. That could have been a really horrible day of filming. It turned out to be one of the best days of filming. So that was really nice, and that was right at the beginning.”

    Las Vegas, Nevada

For shooting purposes, the ‘Wedding Season’ production team also travels to Las Vegas, Nevada’s most populous city. It is a renowned resort city famous for its gambling, fine dining, entertainment, shopping, and nightlife. Over the years, it has served as a prominent filming site for many movies and TV shows, such as ‘The Wolf of Wall Street,’ ‘Memento,’ ‘The Stand,’ and ‘CSI: Vegas.’

    Greater Los Angeles, California

Several significant portions of ‘Wedding Season’ are lensed in Greater Los Angeles, the second-largest metropolitan region in the United States. The British show’s cast and crew members utilize the Big Sky Movie Ranch facilities at 4927 Bennett Road in Simi Valley. It is a 7,000-acre ranch with various backgrounds and locations suitable for different productions. The ranch also houses old ranch house sets, ponds, valleys, giant oak trees, dirt trails, and much more. Moreover, the Hollywood neighborhood in Los Angeles serves as a recording site for the series.

  • Where is Con Doctor Today? Update

Where is Con Doctor Today? Update

    [ad_1]

In 2016, the arrest of a teenager in Palm Beach County, Florida, made national headlines given the circumstances surrounding his crime. Malachi Love-Robinson had been on the authorities’ radar for impersonating a doctor and treating patients. ABC News’ ‘The Con: The Impostor Doctor Con’ focuses on Malachi’s fraudulent activities and what happened to him in the aftermath. So, if you’re curious about the same, we’ve got you covered.

    Who is Malachi Love-Robinson?

Malachi Love-Robinson first came to the authorities’ attention in 2015 as a 17-year-old. At the time, he pretended to be a doctor by wearing a lab coat, walking around in a hospital in Florida, and attending at least one gynecological exam. In the same year, Malachi opened a clinic in Boynton Beach, Florida, but he had to close it because he didn’t have a medical license. Then, Malachi was arrested in 2016 for operating a practice called New Birth New Life Holistic and Alternative Medical Center and Urgent Care.

An undercover operation resulted in Malachi physically examining an officer and providing medical care. At the time, he claimed to have never called himself an MD but said it was only a Ph.D. Also, in 2016, Malachi stole money from an 86-year-old woman in West Palm Beach, Florida. He made several house calls to treat her intestinal pain but then gained access to her bank accounts, using almost $35,000 of her money to pay his car loans and credit card bills.

For that, he pleaded guilty to practicing naturopathy without a license and grand theft. Then, Malachi was arrested in September 2016 in Virginia while free on bond. He tried to buy a $35,000 Jaguar by using his godmother’s personal information. She denied having any knowledge of the purchase. In May 2017, Malachi pled guilty to providing a false statement to obtain credit and received a one-year sentence.

    Where is Malachi Love-Robinson Today?

After being released from a Virginia prison, Malachi Love-Robinson went to Florida to face charges there. In January 2018, he pled guilty to one count of practicing medicine without a license. While Malachi faced up to 90 years in prison, the deal meant he was sentenced to three and a half years behind bars. Malachi served 20 months and was released in September 2019. In an interview taken in 2018 while in prison, he said, “I 100% regret what I’ve done and the reason being is that, because No. 1, I’ve messed my life up, you know, a great deal.”

But Malachi didn’t stay out of trouble for long. After his release, he began working as a contractor for the United States of Freight in Delray Beach, Florida. Malachi was accused of rerouting payments to his personal account, thereby stealing from his employer and causing a loss of a little over $10,000. This transpired in March 2020, and the employer had Malachi text him he didn’t want to go back to jail.

Malachi claimed he refunded the money, but nothing ever came through. While Malachi has been released on bond after being charged with fraud and grand theft in January 2021, prison records indicate that he is still under probation until 2027. Apart from that, Malachi is currently awaiting legal proceedings in the new fraud case, and it appears that he lives in West Palm Beach.

  • Brad Anderson to Direct Final George Romero «Living Dead» Movie

Brad Anderson to Direct Final George Romero «Living Dead» Movie

    [ad_1]

There’s been a slow drip of news in recent months on the forthcoming “final” installment of legendary horror director George A. Romero’s iconic zombie series, Twilight of the Dead. Today, however, we’ve been given something a bit more substantial: Confirmation that director Brad Anderson will helm the project, bringing to an end the series that began way back in 1968 with the original Night of the Living Dead. That film is responsible for the modern conception of the zombie as an undead, flesh-eating ghoul, and it obviously has a place of honor in our ranking of the 50 best zombie movies of all time.

Two films that don’t make that list? Those would be Diary of the Dead and Survival of the Dead, the final two “living dead” entries directed by Romero before his passing in 2017. Following 2005’s still pretty effective Land of the Dead, Romero turned the series in more of a low-budget, marginal direction, first with a found footage-style film exploring the beginning of the zombie outbreak, and then a self-contained story set on an island, focused on a pair of feuding families. Years later, fans are still debating the relative merits of these two entries and arguing about what Romero was trying to accomplish, but neither entry has any real sense of finality. Twilight of the Dead presumably aims to change that.

Importantly, Twilight of the Dead reportedly intends to continue the chronology from Land of the Dead, in which the living dead had begun to exhibit higher-level thinking skills, effectively beginning to create their own society. Producers describe it as a “thought-provoking sociopolitical commentary wrapped in a genre piece.” It also has the blessing of Romero’s widow Suzanne Romero, who said the following: “I’m delighted to be joining forces with Roundtable to bring the eerie evolution of Romero’s universe to the screen. Roundtable impressed me with their long-term and deep love of George’s work. I believe they have the vision to produce the best version of this movie that honors the Romero legacy. I can’t wait to start filming!”

The concept for the film is from Romero and Paolo Zelati, while the screenplay was reportedly completed by Joe Knetter, Robert Lucas and Zelati prior to the ongoing writer’s strike. Director Anderson, meanwhile, enjoyed critical acclaim for horror and psychological thriller entries earlier in his career with the likes of Session 9, The Machinist and TransSiberian, though his recent output hasn’t exactly generated the same level of attention. Here’s hoping he’s able to shepherd Twilight of the Dead to a worthy conclusion for the sake of Romero’s legacy.

  • Legacy of Monsters Brings Godzilla to TV

Legacy of Monsters Brings Godzilla to TV

    [ad_1]

It’s a good time to be a fan of giant monsters: Just a few days after we got a first look at the latest entry in Japan’s Godzilla series, Godzilla Minus One, we’re gifted with a first trailer for the upcoming, especially luxe-looking new Apple TV+ series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. That trailer, which you can view below, introduces a reportedly 10-episode series that will bring together characters from the American Legendary Pictures Godzilla series with new creations, spanning three generations. As the official synopsis puts it:

Following the epic battle between Godzilla and the MUTOs that leveled San Francisco and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, two siblings, following in their father’s footsteps, uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw, taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga — spanning three generations — reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.

That character of Lee Shaw is played by none other than Kurt Russell, who looks to be in fine form as a would-be kaiju conservationist, now struggling in a world where the threat of monsters to the human population has become much more severe. He’s joined in at least some portions by a returning John Goodman, last seen in Kong: Skull Island, with a younger version of Russell’s character being portrayed by Wyatt Russell of AMC’s underrated Lodge 49. Also clearly in the mix is Godzilla himself, though it’s unclear how exactly all the kaiju will be wrapped up in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. The format essentially gives the showrunners freedom to incorporate whichever giant monsters they wish, which is an exciting proposition.

More than anything, though, the below trailer just looks expensive as hell, promising a level of production design and CGI rarely seen in the streaming TV world today. Here’s hoping that the full series can live up to the ultra ambitious-looking footage below. We’ll find out when Monarch: Legacy of Monsters arrives on Apple TV+ on Nov. 17, 2023. Meanwhile, check out the trailer below.

  • PREMIERE: Border Collie Release New Single «i don’t believe you»

PREMIERE: Border Collie Release New Single «i don’t believe you»

    [ad_1]

You might not know about the LA-based trio Border Collie yet, but you soon will. Elon Thomas, Kiefer Detrick and Julian Brivera are fresh on the scene, only having released a pair of singles so far. Their first ever release as a band, “just a baby,” came in May, and the follow-up song “word i saved for later” arrived two months later. Keep in tune with their trend of putting out a song every other month, Border Collie have unveiled the song “i don’t believe you”—and it’s one of the most inspired folk-rock tracks this year.

At five-and-a-half minutes in length, “i don’t believe you” cruises through patterns of balladry into a soaring, dizzying extension of built-up, blues-inspired chords. Detrick’s singing has a particular shine to it, as he works hard to merge a subtle indie twang with a sharp affectation that could be found in a pop hit. It hits exponentially, as does his awing chemistry with Thomas and Brivera. Together, the trio take “i don’t believe you” and reroute it from being a run-of-the-mill rock track into a beautiful, complex arrangement that is a catchy tapestry of thoughtful, reflective storytelling.

Detrick says of the track: “‘I don’t believe you’ is the third go-at-it from Border Collie since they started releasing in May. ‘I don’t believe you’ is confused: it’s bitter and lost, it doesn’t know who the gun is pointed at (‘I’m angry but I’m listening,’ ‘I was ten feet behind my eyelids’).

“The lyrics are labored over a scratchy chord progression and a dizzying rhythm section. Loose, expressive rhythm section, tape-noise fidelity. Recorded and produced entirely by Border Collie in the padded concrete closet they call their studio. This single is a Fresh Find, it would fit well into *end credits.”

Listen to “i don’t believe you” below.

Watch the Trailer for Sam Jay’s Special Salute Me or Shoot Me

    [ad_1]

Comedian and Saturday Night Live writer Sam Jay makes her HBO comedy special debut at the end of the month with her bitingly honest new hour Salute Me or Shoot Me.

The special, directed by Linda Mendoza (Black-ish, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and many other gems), sees Jay tackle her engagement, trash day, the nuances of relationship dynamics, and much more from the Brooklyn Steel stage. Salute Me or Shoot Me premieres on HBO at 10pm ET/PT on September 23 and will be streaming on Max (still can’t get used to writing that).

We here at Paste are thrilled to give you an exclusive first look at the trailer for Salute Me or Shoot Me. Jay’s in peak form here, lamenting about the struggles of impending married life (“It’s hard to care every day”) and the impracticalities of Spanx. She manages to come across as both laid back and highly energized, a quality that makes her comedy a joy to watch.

“Sam is an incredible talent who achieves that delicate balance between being brutally honest and insanely funny. She’s a daring performer and a gifted writer who evokes such a natural effortlessness onstage that it feels like you’re having a conversation with a close (and really funny) friend. We absolutely love working with her—she is a true original,” says Nina Rosenstein, HBO’s EVP of Late Night & Specials Programming.

While Salute Me or Shoot Me is Jay’s debut HBO comedy special, this is certainly not her first hour. She previously released 3 in the Morning on Netflix, which touched on white feminism, her relationship (pre-engagement), the Me Too movement, and much more. Candid and confident, there’s a reason that 3 in the Morning placed fifth on our list of the best comedy specials of 2020.

The Emmy nominee has kept busy since the release of 3 in the Morning. In the years following, she’s written for That Damn Michael Che and created and starred in Pause with Sam Jay and Bust Down. The latter series was so promising—it made our list of the funniest TV shows of 2022—but since the tragic death of co-star and co-creator Jak Knight it seems doubtful there will be a second season.

Hotline TNT Announce New Album Cartwheel

    [ad_1]

The debut Hotline TNT album Nineteen in Love was one of my favorite projects of 2021. Will Anderson’s work was gripping and affirming for me, as he worked through these heavy, emotional soundscapes of distortion and flair. Songs like “Had 2 Try” and “Stampede” still live in my rotation—it was like Slowdive had tried making punk rock, an intersection I’m always happy to spend time with. Now, Anderson is back with his band’s sophomore outing Cartwheel—which is set to arrive November 3 via Third Man Records.

Earlier this summer, Anderson unveiled the single “Protocol,” much to our own excitement. Now, “I Thought You’d Change” has been revealed—and it’s an absolute doozy of shoegaze-inspired brilliance about the give-and-gos of a romance that’s cascading toward the wayside. “Tried to make things clear, I had to leave and shed my tears,” Anderson sings. “Never seen you here, there’s a part of me that still feels weird.” With pushing guitars—that show up much more pronounced than the six-string work on Nineteen in Love did two years ago—and an enigmatic, enchanting vocal performance, the track is an uptempo odyssey that doesn’t overstay its welcome. “I Thought You’d Change” appears to be the opening chapter of Anderson’s new, fully realized vision—and we’re totally here for it.

  • Nintendo Switch Successor Demoed at Gamescom, Sources Say

Nintendo Switch Successor Demoed at Gamescom, Sources Say

    [ad_1]

Nintendo reportedly presented tech demos for their next console, the successor to the Nintendo Switch, to developers behind closed doors at Gamescom last month.

Initially reported by Eurogamer and corroborated by sources from VGC, the tech demos reportedly emphasized a sizable upgrade in graphical power from the Nintendo Switch, with one VGC source claiming that the target specs for the console boasted visuals (though not power) comparable to current-gen Playstation and Xbox hardware.

Sources have detailed two specific demos. The first is an upgraded version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, running at a higher framerate and resolution to show off the new console’s improved target specs, though it was made clear that this was merely a tech demo and not a suggestion of plans to re-release the game. The second is Epic Games’ The Matrix Awakens, an Unreal Engine 5 tech demo, running on target specs for the console.

Sources say that Nintendo was able to achieve such impressive graphics thanks to Nvidia’s DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) technology, which uses AI to upscale the resolution of games, allowing for weaker hardware to output higher-quality graphics. Nintendo had previously filed a patent for similar technology in 2020.

Nintendo has yet to publicly discuss plans for a successor console, but recent reports have suggested that the Nintendo is targeting a release date in late 2024 and that the console will retain the portable functionality of the Switch. These reports, however, have not been confirmed.

Nintendo has confirmed they have no plans to release a system in the current fiscal year, ending next March, but has remained largely silent other than that. Their currently-announced 2024 plans include an untitled Princess Peach game and a remaster of 3DS hit Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon.

We’ve been raving about this place for years; it preserves the glitz and glamor of classic Vegas while contextualizing the many architectural shifts the city has seen over the last several decades, while also just looking really damn cool, especially at night. If you’ve never been, there’s an upcoming event that might be the perfect time to check it out.

The museum’s Duck Duck Shed event celebrates the city’s one-of-a-kind design and architecture history through a variety of exhibits and tours, in the tradition of Palm Springs’ Modernism Week. The second annual edition of Duck Duck Shed will be held from October 4 to 7, and will host a number of events throughout the city. Highlights include an exhibit focusing on Debbie Reynolds’ 50-year Las Vegas history, curated by her son Todd Fisher; a celebration of the 25th century of Cirque du Soleil’s show O, which will take guests behind the scenes and even on stage; and the launch of Darren Aronofsky’s short film Postcard from Earth, which was made specifically and exclusively for the Sphere at the Venetian. (Yes, that futuristic-looking, heavily-memed bubble that has loomed ominously on the periphery of the Strip will host both a U2 residency and a new film by the guy who gave us Requiem for a Dream and Mother!) Other events include tours with prominent architects, historians, and scholars, as well as a meal with former mayor Oscar Goodman and a historic tour of iconic Vegas cocktails and food. For more information, here’s a full list of this year’s Duck Duck Shed events.

Tickets for Duck Duck Shed’s events are a la carte and available for purchase now. If you’re fascinated by the history and distinctive architecture of Las Vegas, this seems like a fantastic opportunity to learn about the city from the people who know more about it than anybody else. And if you do make it out next month, try to find time to hit up some of the cool things to do in Las Vegas off the Strip or the beautiful FlyOver Las Vegas attraction. There’s so much more to Vegas than gaming and drinking, and Duck Duck Shed sounds like a great way to explore that history.

Who Is Behind the Oil Crisis?

Based on the 2007 namesake novel by Alex Scarrow, ‘Last Light’ Is a Peacock action thriller series. The story follows the Yeats family. Andy Yeats (Matthew Fox) is a renowned Petro-chemist who works for a major energy and oil company. In the days leading up to the experimental surgery for his son’s degenerative eye condition in Paris, he is pulled away to the Middle East because of a developing emergency, though he promises he will be there on the day of the surgery. Andy’s wife, Elena (Joanne Froggatt), subsequently leaves for Paris with their son, Sam (Taylor Fay), while their daughter Laura (Alyth Ross) stays back in London. As the world starts to break down around them, Andy and his family desperately try to reunite with each other. If you are wondering what happens at the end of ‘Last Light,’ we got you covered. SPOILERS AHEAD.

    Last Light Season 1 Recap

The five-episode miniseries begins with a flashforward in which Andy is stuck in the middle of a desert during a storm. The narrative then shifts two days back, and we see the Yeats family celebrating Sam’s birthday at a restaurant. As they reach home, Andy is approached by people from his work, Luzrah Oil & Energy, telling him about a developing catastrophe. With Sam’s surgery only days away, his decision to leave predictably causes friction between him and Elena. It is also heavily implied that Andy and Elena are having marital trouble for a while. Elena was previously employed, but she has devoted herself to caring for her son for the last few years. Meanwhile, ironically, Laura is an environmental activist, so her relationship with her Petro-Chemist father isn’t ideal either.

Once Andy is in the Middle East, he is introduced to Mika Bakhash (Amber Rose Revah), a British government representative. Andy wonders aloud why she is there as they head toward the oil fields as a storm starts to brew. After collecting samples, Andy, Mika, and their security detail drive toward the laboratory. This is when they are attacked while a storm rages around them, and Andy finds out that Mika is British Intelligence.

After depositing samples, Andy goes to the hotel and continues to try calling his family, but none of those calls goes through. When he returns to the laboratory, he discovers that most employees there have been gunned down. He goes on the run and is found by Mika. It is revealed that she now suspects him. He convinces her to give him her satellite phone, so he can speak to his family. He once more fails to contact Elena but does get through to Laura and tells her to find a file in his office, take photos of its content, and then e-mail them. What Laura doesn’t tell him is that she is in considerable danger herself.

In London, Laura grows close to Owen Jones (Victor Alli), a self-proclaimed computer nerd with questionable social skills. She discovers that a man with dreadlocks is after her. While they try to escape, the man shoots Owen, prompting Laura to take him to the hospital. It is there that she receives the call from her father.

Meanwhile, as electricity starts to shut down across Europe, cars stop working, and planes drop off the sky, people begin to realize that something is definitely wrong with the fuel. Sam’s surgery is postponed indefinitely, so Elena decides to return to London with her son. However, she soon discovers that all flights have been canceled. With the help of her son’s doctor, she reaches the border, but the doctor is killed after a car hits him. An immigrant woman subsequently helps Laura and Sam to reach England, where they are detained despite being British citizens.

Meanwhile, after Andy lands in England, Mika and her superiors have him arrested, suspecting his involvement in the global catastrophe. In the season finale, following the revelation of the real mastermind, his reunion with Elena and Sam, and the presumption that his daughter has been kidnapped, Andy races against time to save Laura and human civilization as we know it.

Last Light Season 1 Ending: Who Is Behind the Oil Crisis? What Is Causing the Oil Crisis?

After returning to the UK, Andy is taken into custody by British Intelligence. It is revealed that the file he earlier told Laura to take photos of and e-mail is directly connected to what is happening in the world. Twenty-five years ago, Andy and his friend, Tobias Heller, wrote a thesis on how to deal with the environmental crisis and climate change. They developed a bacteria that can eat oil. But then, Andy met Elena, got married, and started to raise a family. This made him brutally pragmatic about the world around him, and he subsequently became part of the machinery that he had desperately loathed. In the ensuing years, he worked as a Petro-chemist for some of the biggest oil and energy companies in the world, with Luzrah being the latest.

Tobias, who is now part of the British government under the alias Karl Bergmann (Tom Wlaschiha), is the mastermind behind Apocalypse Watch, the eco-terrorist group that spreads the virus across nations, causing the oil disaster and deaths of thousands. ‘Last Light’ tries to deconstruct the radical approach to environmentalism. While it accepts that something must be done to course-correct humanity’s current march towards doom, it also earnestly depicts the possible tragic ramifications of such actions.

    Why Does Tobias/Karl Kidnap Laura?

Although it seems by the end of episode four that Tobias has kidnapped Laura to lure Andy into his trap, it is soon revealed that she is a willing participant. Laura’s environmentalism directly contradicts her father’s work, and they both are aware of it. She is surprised — and to a degree, horrified — that her father used to be a radical environmentalist in his youth. During their confrontation, Tobias forces Andy to remember who he used to be. When Andy tries to admit that he indeed betrayed Tobias, the latter corrects him by saying he betrayed himself.

However, despite their ideological differences, Laura realizes her father is right about the deaths of thousands and helps him with Tobias. She and Andy try to escape just as Tobias tells his people to find them. Fortunately for Andy and Laura, the government forces arrive right then.

Why Does Tobias/Karl Die by Suicide?

In the climactic scene of ‘Last Light,’ Tobias and Andy fight. When the British special forces arrive, Tobias kills himself, but not before reminding Andy to do his part. Although Andy has developed a virus that can kill the bacteria, it is not delivered in time to save oil because Tobias knowingly kept him engaged. The clock runs out, and the apocalypse begins.

However, humanity perseveres. With his death, Tobias paints himself as the villain and Andy as the hero. And the world looks to the latter for the answers. And just as Tobias hoped, Andy and the rest of humanity rise up together. Humanity becomes more social, with people helping each other through trying times. Innovations that haven’t even been thought of before take place because there is suddenly a need for them. In the absence of oil, the world has no other choice but to look for alternative sources of energy, and nature starts to heal.

In the personal life of the Yeats family, healing happens as well. The relationship between Andy and Elena improves in the post-apocalyptic utopian world, as does the one between Laura and Andy. Sam’s surgery finally takes place, and he can see now. The world is greener, healthier, and happier.

Is Diorama a True Story? Is the Netflix Movie Based on Real Life?

    [ad_1]

Netflix’s ‘Diorama’ is a Swedish romantic drama movie that follows the story of Frida and Björn. Directed by Tuva Novotny, the film deals with the couple’s romance, marriage, and difficult years that lead to a sense of dissatisfaction in their relationship. Eventually, the couple is forced to confront their feelings and decide on their happiness. The film creates a realistic portrayal of the different stages of love and carefully highlights the frailties in Frida and Björn’s marriage. Therefore, viewers must be curious to determine whether the story is based on actual events or true incidents. We also got curious about the same and did some research. Here is everything we know about the inspiration behind ‘Diorama.’

    Is Diorama a True Story?

No, ‘Diorama’ is not based on a true story. The film is based on an original screenplay written by Tuva Novotny, who also stars and directs the project. The film’s basic premise revolves around exploring a relationship’s various stages. It takes viewers from the passionate beginning of a romance to the mundane routine of marriage between Frida and Björn. As a result, the couple struggles to find a sense of individualism in their family life, making it difficult for them to continue their marriage or break up.

In an interview with Variety, writer-director Tuva Novotny opened up about conceptualizing the film’s story and themes. Novotny explained that after her previous directorial titled ‘Britt-Marie Was Here’ based on Fredrik Backman’s best-selling novel, she wanted to tell stories with a sense of urgency. Novotny stated that she wanted to make viewers feel entertained and reflect on their lives through her next venture. Hence, she opted to explore the theme of biological human monogamy. The writer-director adds a scientific approach to the narrative to examine monogamy by creating a contrast between human and animal relationships.

“I’m interested in examining the normative boundaries and common patterns of human monogamy and question if the traditional twosome relationship structure is “natural” for humans and if we are made that way,” Novotny said. She elaborated by explaining the complex nature of modern relationships. However, modern relationships are susceptible to breakdowns, making her wonder whether humans are biologically not made for monogamy.

“Today, people live in new modern relationship structures. Surveys show that (the) adultery rate is about 60-70% and divorce around 60%. So obviously, we’re fighting for something [monogamy] that might simply be against our nature. How would it be possible to mold our relationships into something that better fits our nature?” Novotny elaborated on the film’s themes. Likewise, in another interview, Novotny stated that she used both drama and humor to deliver a scientific exploration of human relationships. At the same time, she attempted to address societal norms and stigma about relationships and offer some insight and comfort to the viewers.

Hence, it is evident from the writer/director’s words that the film’s story is fictional. Still, it is rooted in the complexity of relationships we see around us in everyday life. Ultimately, ‘Diorama’ is not based on a true story. The film is inspired by the state of modern relationships, their structure, and the decline of monogamy. The film explores these themes through an intriguing relationship drama that has emotional depth and gives viewers plenty of comedic and dramatic moments.
