‘Devastated’ YouTuber DanTDM broke down in a recent video over the loss of his pug, Ellie. Thousands of fans sent their condolences during the difficult time.
Losing a pet can be one of the hardest things in the world to go through. For millions of people around the world, pets are more than just animals – they’re cherished family members who we rely on to get us through some of the darkest moments in our lives. Dealing with the loss of a dog can be incredibly challenging, as DanTDM has found out after losing his and wife Jemma Middleton’s beloved pug Ellie.
DanTDM ‘devastated’ over the loss of Ellie the pug
On Twitter recently, DanTDM said goodbye to Ellie, his pug of ten years.
‘I’m so devastated..,’ he wrote on 6 September. ‘Today we unexpectedly lost our little Ellie. Our home feels so weird without her. She’d been with us for everything over the past almost 10 years and I’ll never forget her. Hopefully I’ll see you again one day, bear.’
The post was viewed over 3.4m times, with thousands of people sending Dan their condolences.
‘I’m so sorry, pets are everything – Sending love to you and the family,’ one person wrote.
‘We are so unbelievably sorry,’ another wrote.
‘This is really hard man, sending love to both of you in this tough time,’ another wrote.
Who is Ellie the pug? YouTuber release emotional video explaining tragic events
Following the Twitter update, DanTDM posted a YouTube video on 7 September titled: ‘goodbye ellie’.
Dan was visibly emotional from the outset, holding back tears as he explained that Ellie had died the day before. Dan wiped tears away as he did his best to update fans on the situation.
He explained that he’d had Ellie since she was a puppy and that she was one month away from being 10. He said the death stings as Ellie went to the vets with an infected tooth/gum which meant she needed an operation.
However, she tragically didn’t wake up from the operation.
Dan then admitted he wasn’t going to post a video but knew he had to so he could cry more and deal with it.
He said he thinks a lot of his fanbase will feel like they know Ellie as she has featured in countless vlogs of his. A vlog titled ‘MEET ELLIE THE PUG!’ was uploaded to his channel nine years ago, and she has featured in other videos such as ‘ELLIE THE PUG REACTS.’
Ellie was also a part of Dan’s live shows, and was part of his journey so far.
He added that she felt like a member of his family and that his heart “literally hurts.” He concluded that before he got the phone call about what happened to her he was planning how they were going to pick her up.
“I miss her already”, he says. “She’s not here anymore, and I’m really sad. Really sad.”
