A Reddit user has gone viral after sharing a photo of an eerie number ‘514’ that was written on her house by a food delivery driver.
The post was shared in Reddit’s Door Dash thread this week and has left everyone on social media warning of something sinister.
Eerie ‘514’ written on house
“Why did my dasher write ‘514’ on the side of my house?” the woman wrote alongside a photo of the odd writing.
The viral image shows the number written in bold black marker pen on one of the white slats of her garage door.
“Ordered food today… the dasher came and dropped it off, but then wrote 514 above my garage in permanent marker.”

“It’s all caught on camera. I’m just really confused lol,” the Reddit user continued.
‘Someone’s about to hit a lick’
People on Reddit are warning her that the creepy number could mean people are going to come and rob her house.
“You need to report this. Someone’s about to hit a lick off you,” one person commented.
“Hit a lick” is an old term that means to get a lot of money quickly, usually through crime and stealing.
“That dasher marked your house for robbery. Barricade your doors,” said another.
A third person added: “Here in my country when a thief sees a house that can have stuff of value, they mark it to rob it later.”
They added that the robbers usually come back with more people and use different symbols to inform what’s in the house.
“That’s how people mark houses for later to break into,” someone else said. “They use their job as Dashers to scope out houses.”
Woman files police report
After the post went viral, the woman shared an update revealing that she has filed a police report, but sadly doubts they will take it seriously.
She also contacted DoorDash and is waiting for a response. They covered the eerie number with paint too.

“Codes, symbols and markings have become widely used tactics among burglars to help them break into homes,” they said.
They usually take the form of new markings drawn onto your home, garage door, post box or storage unit.
The more thieves know about the house and its security, the more likely they are to rob the home successfully.
If you see any strange markings on your home, including shapes, numbers or letters, you should inform the police immediately.
