Social media is dissing a mother and her family after a video showed her greedily taking all the candy kept outside a Texas home.

The video starts with two women running up to the candy container. One is wearing a black hoodie and another a blue tie-dye one. They are followed by three kids and another woman. The group looks excited upon seeing how much candy is kept out in the open.

They hurriedly stuff the candies in a bag as well as their hoodies. We later see a male adult raiding the container too. More kids show up and take their fill. At the end, the adult male takes a last peek at the container to ensure they have taken every last piece of it. The group then leaves hurriedly.

Incident took place outside musician Cody Tate’s home

The viral incident took place outside of musician Cody Tate’s home. He was the one who put the video on his Instagram and it has been making rounds on all platforms since then.

The musician, who is a member of the Whiskey Myers band, wrote, “And this is why you can’t trust people. If you know who it is share. I figured it would happen but not adults. Now all the kids after these people can’t have any candy.”

In a post before sharing the viral video, the musician showed a sign he had put on his door that said, “Please take 1.” However, the family seemed to disregard it.

The Daily Mail reports that, hours after the incident, the musician posted another video showing his neighbor stopping by and putting candies into the empty bowl for the kids who arrived later.

Many users commented under Cody’s Instagram video.

“And those kids are going to grow up to be just like those adults, or worse. Sad,” said one person.

“Grown a** women acting like they’ve never seen candy before. BIG YIKES,” said a second commenter.

Another user noted how this video will make it to the community page of the mom who stole the candies.
