Labor Day is almost here so looking towards the three-day weekend, is the post office open on Monday, 4, September 2023?
Honored on the first Monday in September, the holiday recognizes the labor movement and the works of laborers to the development of the United States. This year, Labor Day falls on September 4 and the day is often celebrated with parties, barbecues, and spending time with loved ones. Schools and banks are always closed on the holiday, and many stores have shorter working hours, but what about the post office?
Is the post office open on Labor Day 2023?
No, it is not open. In the US, Labor Day is a federal holiday, which means the post office is closed. The United States Postal Service (USPS) recognizes all federal holidays and is closed on all of them.
That means you won’t be able to drop off or collect parcels or use any other post office services.
USPS does offer some online services, such as printing labels, which you can still use.

Does the mail run on Labor Day?
Mail does not run on Labor Day either, so you won’t receive any letters or parcels. Normal mail deliveries will resume on Tuesday (September 6) following the federal holiday.
FedEx and UPS are also both closed and there will be no pickup or delivery services. DHL and Amazon won’t be delivering either, so you’ll have to wait until Tuesday for all your parcels.
