The viral trend premises on the fact that Jupter isn’t a star, although the scientific community isn’t spared of arguments that question the justification of the same. The trend is used to praise a certain fictional character or a celebrity who could have been a star but failed to become popular or they didn’t get the recognition they deserved.

Why Jupiter is known as a ‘failed star’
Whether Jupiter is a “failed star” or not is long debated, but many still refer to the planet by that name.
It originates from the fact that Jupiter isn’t massive enough to cause thermonuclear reactions in its core, although, it’s mostly hydrogen like most normal stars.
Despite its humongous size, Jupiter reportedly needs to be 75 times its current mass to cause nuclear fusion and thus become a star.
But, the TikTok trend doesn’t rely on the above logic entirely and refuses to think of some of the most-desired personalities or characters as less capable of achieving fame. Instead, it treats them as special by mourning the lost opportunity that could have helped them be bigger in terms of popularity.
