Lionel Richie and Diana Ross won several heats with their song Endless Love, but the singer did not hesitate to call out the Upside Down singer after she ditched him for Beyonce’s birthday celebration.
Diana Ross and Lionel Richie’s song Endless Love is still adored by many and fans have been waiting to hear them both sing it together once again. However, it hasn’t happened in over a decade. Recently, Lionel finally broke his silence about it and jokingly called out Diana for ditching him and choosing to go to Beyonce‘s birthday party rather than coming to his concert to sing.

Lionel Richie calls out Diana Ross
Recently, Lionel decided to address the audience and confirm that Diana would not be joining him to sing Endloss Love.
He said: “For 37 years, Diana has said ‘No. What made you think tonight she was going to show up? She ain’t comin’! She’s over there singing Happy Birthday to Beyoncé. P*ssing me off.”
In the end, Lionel had to ask the audience to sing along to her part to make sure the show could continue as normal. The video from the audience interaction has been going viral on social media and fans cannot contain their laughter.
Was there a bad blood between the two?
Previously, there had been rumors suggesting that the two were not on good terms as they reportedly could not agree on what parts to sing for Endless Love. In reality, this was not true.
Lionel admitted that the reason they could never perform together was because of their different schedules. The pair have known each other since their Motown Records days.
In an interview, Lionel spoke about his first thoughts about Diana as he said: “Diana was the most aloof of all the Motown acts. You didn’t have access to her. The Temptations or The Four Tops would hang out in the hallway but Diana didn’t. She’d come out of her car, and go straight into the studio. She had a 40th birthday party and I got an invitation. My father couldn’t believe it when I took him along and he came face to face with all these Motown legends.”
Upcoming tour dates of the singer explored
Lionel still has three more shows to go and below are the dates:
- Mon Sep. 11 – Seattle, Wash. – Climate Pledge Arena
- Tue Sep. 12 – Vancouver, BC – Rogers Arena
- Fri Sep. 15 – Los Angeles, Calif. – Kia Forum
