Chainsaw Man chapter 137 includes Maximum the Hormone’s ‘ChuChu Lovely’ song, but why are fans going crazy for this crossover track?
Tatsuki Fujimoto is well-known for his shock revelations and unique twists; however, social media platforms are awash with fan reactions to the inclusion of Maximum the Hormone’s ‘ChuChu Lovely’ song in Chainsaw Man chapter 137 – here is a quick rundown of the latest trend.

Chainsaw Man 137 makes Maximum the Hormone canon
In chapter 137 of the Chainsaw Man manga series, which was released worldwide on July 25, Denji’s mystery date takes him to a private karaoke lounge after asking if she could be his first sexual encounter.
However, before they can get up to any funny business, the mystery girl to starts singing a Japanese rock song on the karaoke machine just as a group of thugs breaks into the room to beat up Denji.
Whilst fans might have initially assumed that this was nothing more than a track imagined for the manga series, it turns out that this is a real song from nonother than Maximum the Hormone called ‘Chu Chu Lovely Muni Muni Mura Mura’.
Maximum the Hormone are widely considered to be anime royalty having featured in shows such as Air Master, Death Note, Akagi, and Record of Ragnarok.
However, the inclusion of their song in chapter 137 means that the band can now also be considered to be canon within the Chainsaw Man universe – they also provided one of the ending theme songs for season 1 of MAPPA’s hit anime adaptation.
That’s right, Maximum the Hormone also produced the ending song ‘Hawatari 2 Oku-senchi’ for the third episode of the Chainsaw Man anime, meaning that the band does exist in Denji’s reality.
As explained by YouTuber RealLifeRyan, “Some of the best days that you can have, are the days that you remember that the band Maximum the Hormone exists.”
“But to use this song the way that they did in this chapter of Chainsaw Man was in one way brilliant but also it makes me upset that we’re probably going to have to wait nearly a decade until this chapter gets animated. Who knows if they can actually use the song when they do the anime someday.”
As cited by the series Fandom page, the song makes fun of those people who oversexualize other people and who sexualize assault; meaning that the song was purposefully included in this chapter of Chainsaw Man, considering that the mystery girl is trying to take Denji’s virginity despite his initial wariness.
The main line from the song reads ‘ChuChu lovely muni muni mura mura purin purin boron nururu rero rero’. According to Genius.com, these are a list of onomatopoeia including ‘Chu’ as the sound of kissing, ‘muni’ being groping, ‘mura’ meaning arousal, and ‘rero’ being licking – all relevant to the chapter at hand.
Now that it has been confirmed Maximum the Hormone are canon within the world of Chainsaw Man, the door is open to plenty more crossover songs or cameos from the iconic band – which MTH song would you like to see included in Chainsaw Man next?
