Call of Duty gamer and Twitch streamer Nickmercs recently announced that he has signed a 10 million dollar contract with competitor platform Kick. The deal comes months after Nick’s controversial tweet about Pride month being observed in schools.
Nickmercs, whose real name is Nick Kolcheff, is one of the best-known streamers of the multiplayer shooting game Call of Duty. He is also the co-owner of the famous gaming collective FaZe Clan. The star, who primarily streams his games on Twitch, has now announced that he’s signed a one-year contract worth $10 million with Twitch’s biggest competitor Kick, another streaming platform backed by Stake.com.
Nickmerks signs $10m Kick contract
Nick took to his social media pages to post a grand video announcing his Kick Deal. The streamer and content creator is seen dressed as a Roman warrior in the video announcing that he will now be streaming on Kick.
Like xQc, who signed a $100 million contract with Kick, Nick has signed a non-exclusive contract with the platform. This means that he can still stream on Twitch but a good chunk of his content will be moving to Kick.
Talking about the deal, the 32-year-old influencer said that he will be using Kick to reach new audiences.
“Building a community is everything I’ve ever wanted to do,” he said about the deal. “By expanding on Kick.com, I’ll be able to reach new audiences and welcome even more fans into the MFAM (his gaming event). We will compete on big stages, host big events, and share new content in new ways. This is a major move for me, and I can’t wait to share this new experience with the community. It’s all for them.”
Nickmercs landed in hot water over a tweet in June 2023
In June 2023, the father of one landed in trouble after his tweet response to a viral video. Nick responded to a video showing a brawl outside a California school board meeting that held a session discussing whether or not Pride Month should be recognized in a school.
Nick wrote, “They should leave little children alone. That’s the real issue.”
Many labeled his tweet as “anti-LGBTQ.” But he addressed the controversy in his stream. Defending his statement, the star said, “It wasn’t an anti — I guess — gay tweet. That wasn’t what it was. If you think that I hate you because you’re a certain way, you couldn’t be any more wrong.”
