Infant play mattresses sold exclusively on Amazon are being recalled over risks of suffocation.

No injuries have yet been reported but the Consumer Product Safety Commission is urging all customers to destroy their mattresses after they failed vital safety tests.

Vibe Bear’s Play Yard Mattresses and Moonsea Pack and Play Mattresses were both recalled by the CPSC yesterday.

The CPSC recalled infant mattresses over suffocation risks

Moonsea Pack and Play mattresses sold around 11,000 units exclusively on Amazon, reports the CPSC. The organization says the mattress poses a significant suffocation hazard to children after it failed the thickness test. The product also has missing warnings and labels.

These mattresses are white and fold in a tri-fold pattern. The mattress has a diamond pattern on the top and is 37.5 inches long by 26 inches wide.

Mattresses with a date code between 15/08/2022 and 23/08/2023 printed on the small tag are involved in this recall.

Vibe Bear mattresses sold around 2,000 units on Amazon, according to the CPSC. These mattresses are with a diagonal quilted surface. They have graphics of paintbrushes, paints, and nature images printed on them. The mattresses are around 38 inches by 26 inches and fold in half. Vibe Bear mattresses were sold from January 2023 to June 2023.

Like the Moonsea mattresses, Vibe Bear mattresses also failed the thickness test and have missing warnings and labels.

HITC has contacted Moonsea and Amazon for comment.

What to do if you have one of these mattresses

Both companies and Amazon are reportedly contacting purchasers directly.

Customers are being instructed by the CPSC to immediately stop using the products and destroy the recalled mattresses.

Vibe Bear customers should contact the company by email to receive a full refund and to receive directions on how best to dispose of the mattress.

Moonsea customers should email [email protected] or visit https://www.moonseasleep.com/pages/product-recalls for detailed instructions on how to request a refund.

There were more infant mattress recalls last month

On November 30, DODO Baby House Pack and Play mattresses were also recalled by the CPSC for similar reasons, with the mattresses posing a suffocation risk.

Only mattresses manufactured on or after August 1tth 2022 were recalled. Customers were instructed to destroy their product by cutting it in half before sending photos of the destroyed mattresses to customer service to obtain a full refund.

No injuries or accidents were reported before the recall.
