Rapper Anuel AA undergoes emergency surgery

In his post – dated Sunday, October 8 – the rapper (whose real name is Emmanuel Gazmey Santiago), posted a picture of himself asleep. He was in hospital garments and had a tube around his nose with some in his hand.

Loosely translated from Spanish, the caption read, “I had emergency surgery last night. Only god knows why of things. It was a matter of life and death.”

He went on to thank God that he’s alive and also notes how he cannot keep working right now.

The rapper’s album Rompe Corazones (Heartbreaker) was due out in two weeks but has been postponed indefinitely. Shakira collaborated (on the song Me Gusta) and asked fans to keep him in their prayers, saying he has left everything in God’s hands.

Among the pop culture personalities that responded to Anuel AA’s Instagram post were Diddy, Shaquille O’Neal, DJ Luian, NBA coach Chris Matthews, and more.

Rapper kept details of upcoming album under wraps

Despite the new record’s original release date being in two weeks, the Puerto Rican musician had not revealed much about the album itself. In his recent Instagram posts, the 30-year-old kept teasing its release but no tracklist or features have been announced yet.

In a post from last week, the musician claimed that he was going to master a new genre with his new album.

“You can’t even imagine, the EP looks like an ALBUM. I’m going to take the whole industry this year and I’m gonna master the genre,” he said.

However, fans will have to wait longer to hear Anuel’s new music.
