A UPS driver shared the hilarious moment he had to chase a neighbor’s German Sheperd dog after it stole the package he delivered.
Delivery driver Tre Welch was left enlisting the help of one of his colleagues when he was unable to retrieve the parcel from the dog. Welch shared footage of the scene to TikTok just two days ago, where it’s been viewed over 600,000 times.
The German Sheperd became a “porch pirate” for the UPS driver
Welch first showed the German Sheperd with the Amazon Prime delivery sat between its teeth. “I didn’t deliver that to you,” he told the dog.
The dog however wasn’t willing to give up easily and instead dashed off away from Welch and across the front yard. “Here,” he called to the dog, but to no avail. “They’re going to say I didn’t deliver,” he reasoned.
Still, the dog was undeterred and continued with the parcel in its mouth. It was only when Welch’s co-worker stepped in that the package made it to safety, The co-worker held out his hand and called the dog over, managing to take the package back from the dog’s mouth with ease.
Welch returned the package to the home, but the German Shoered wasn’t going down without a fight and returned to Welch. In a final attempt to prevent the canine porch pirate from striking again, Welch placed the parcel behind the screen door.
“I know you didn’t get online and order this so keep ya paws and mouth off,” joked Welch in the caption of his TikTok video.

The four-legged thief has melted hearts online
It might have made Welch’s day a little harder, but the hilarious run-in with the dog has been entertaining online since he posted the video.
“The cutest porch pirate,” wrote one TikTok user.
“Y’all need to hire him, you know how many steps he will save you,” joked another.
One comment reads: “He’s applying for your job as your assistant.”

Delivery drivers and dogs have a love-hate relationship
It’s a classic combination. Although Welch’s experience with this dog was a fun one, not all are always so great.
In 2022, over 5,300 US Postal Service employees were attacked by dogs while delivering mail, according to the yearly statistics released. In 2021, 5,400 employees were involved in dog attacks while working.
USPS officials say that even well-behaved dogs can suddenly lash out at delivery drivers.
