Meet Jimmy Buffett’s wife Jane Slagsvol

Jimmy was married twice in his lifetime. The singer’s first marriage was to ex-wife Margie Washichek. The pair were married for three years between 1969 to 1972.

He tied the knot with Jane in 1977 and they remained together till Jimmy’s death. Jimmy and Jane first met in Key West, Florida, in the early ’70s when the latter was a student at the University of South Carolina. He told Time Magazine in 1998 that he saw Jane “wearing a tight, long pink dress that made a lasting impression on me.”

Jane played a pivotal role in Jimmy’s career. In his biography Jimmy Buffett: A Good Life All The Way, the singer credited his wife for cleaning up his band’s “grungy look.” He said that introduced professionalism to the bandmates by changing their clothing.

As the story goes the pair briefly split up in the early ’80s. Jane left Jimmy because their partying lifestyle had become too much for her.
