Christmas is a time to spend and appreciate with family and friends – including K9 ones too. Dog food brand Years’ 2023 Christmas advert has pulled at the heartstrings of thousands, who say the sad story left them sobbing.
The advert went viral on TikTok after being posted on December 1st.
Years’ Christmas advert is a heartbreaking one
The emotional advert tells the story of two dog owners and the similar joy and companionship their pets bring to their lives.
An elderly man reads his newspaper, joined by his pet dog. A young schoolgirl returns home, greeted by her excited dog. Scenes show the joys their dogs bring into their lives.
The old man is seen drinking alone in the pub with his dog perched by his side as he welcomes strangers to pet him too. Those strangers ignite conversation with the older man who sat alone.
After being grounded by her mom, the young girl forgets her anger when her loving pup consolidates her.
A sad twist that might just jerk some tears
One scene shows how important dogs can be when the man receives a call letting him know a family member has passed away. That evening, he eats dinner side-by-side with his dog.
It’s sadly met with the unchangeable – that all dogs go to heaven. Both pup owners return home to the sad news that their dog has walked along the rainbow that day. While waiting at the vet clinic, they sit next to each other and speak about their dogs. “At least they’ll be going up there together ey,” says the man.
