Social media users were left devasted after finding out the news about Tyson Wheeler’s daughter, Tiara’s death. Tyson, who is currently working as an assistant basketball coach at Brown University after NBA retirement confirmed the news while sharing kind words about his daughter.
A look at what happened to Tiara Wheeler
As per reports, the crash took place before 9:30 p.m. Monday when a dirt bike collided with an Audi and Tiara was a passenger on the bike.
The accident resulted in Tiara being thrown from her seat into the Audi. She was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver was taken to the Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London and then airlifted to Yale New Haven Hospital. At the moment, his condition is unclear.
It has been reported that there were other riders on their first bikes and ATVs. However, they left the scene when the accident took place and did not help their companions.
Police call out other riders
Police noted that other riders had removed the dirt bike from the scene while choosing to ignore their injured companions. Police Chief Louis J. Fusaro said: “In addition to the wanton disregard for human life, the actions of removing the involved dirt bike from the scene has tampered with and impeded this investigation.”
He further noted: “What is most troubling is that someone who may have been traveling with them stopped for this crash, and rather than rendering aid to the critically injured parties, removed the dirt bike from the road.”
“Moreover, reckless behavior on the roadways poses a danger to those operators and innocent motorists. Unless this behavior stops, I fear more of these senseless tragedies will occur.”
Tyson Wheeler breaks his silence
Tyson confirmed the death of his daughter and said: “She’s a real go-getter. She got things done. She was so bright. So articulate. So wonderful. So smart.”
Police are currently looking for a video of the incident to get more details on what happened.
