City on the Hill Seasons 3 Episode 6 Recap and Ending, Explained

    [ad_1]

Set in Boston in the 1990s, ‘City on a Hill’ is a riveting tale of corruption and justice. It primarily revolves around two individuals. Jackie Rohr (Kevin Bacon) represents the old Boston, which is perfectly happy to live in the past, whereas  Assistant District Attorney DeCourcy Ward (Aldis Hodge) is the Boston that aspires to be better as it prepares to step into a new millennium. In season 3 episode 6, titled ‘Tenderness,’ Jackie gets shot. Ward begins building a case against Sinclair Dryden. Chris Caysen receives a lucrative offer from the DA’s office. Siobhan must deal with the rapidly escalating situation with her case before it becomes a PR nightmare. Meanwhile, Jenny finally does something for herself. Here is everything you need to know about the ending of ‘City on a Hill’ season 3 episode 6. SPOILERS AHEAD.

City on a Hill Season 3 Episode 6 Recap

The episode begins as Jackie is brought to the hospital. He has been shot while investigating what happened to one of Sinclair’s victims. At the hospital, no one from his past tenure as an FBI officer comes to see him. Ward eventually does, but that is only because Siobhan convinces him. Even the hospital staff quickly realizes who Jackie is and starts to avoid him. After Jackie’s operation, he is shifted to a room that he has to share with a gay young man who has been hospitalized after being beaten up by local goons. The two men have the same cynical outlook about the world and immediately hate each other. Leticia drops by, and her actions cause Jen to pretty much confirm that Jackie is having an affair.

Jen’s unpleasant mother reappears in this episode, declaring to her daughter that if Jackie dies, she will move back into the house. Toward the end of the episode, Jen goes out on a date with Doyle and kisses him, flipping the script on how things have been between her and Jackie since the beginning.

Guy Dan invites Chris to his office and tells him about the in-house investigator position. He also teams Chris up with Blair and tasks them to convict an abortion clinic bomber. Meanwhile, Ward tries to build a case against Sinclair but finds that most of his victims are either dead or gone from Boston before finding one woman still in the city. Siobhan faces a massive uphill battle in the Great Dig case as a reporter comes after her with the knowledge of what she and her friend did years ago. This prompts Siobhan to seek professional help before she gives a candid interview to the reporter. After that, the said reporter publishes an article exonerating her, allowing her once more to focus on her case.

City on a Hill Season 6 Episode 6 Ending: Who Shot Jackie?

Throughout his career in law enforcement, Jackie hasn’t made that many friends, if the number of people that come to see him is any indication, but he sure has made plenty of enemies. For all his lack of moral fortitude, Jackie was an exceptional police officer when he wanted to be. Jackie thinks that the Sicilians are behind the attack, but he learns from his FBI source that all members of the mafia are still in jail.

This leaves only a handful of prospective culprits, the most prominent of them being those working for Sinclair. Jackie’s current boss definitely has a motive to go after him, especially if Letitia has told him that Jackie has been conducting a personal investigation on his victims. Sinclair is an extremely powerful and influential man in Boston. He hails from a family with generational wealth and served as a regional director of the FBI. So, if Sinclair does know, he is bound to come after Jackie. But then again, the attack on Jackie seems like it was performed by two amateurs, and a man with Sinclair’s money and connection will not hire amateurs.

So, if it’s not the mafia and it isn’t Sinclair, it has to be the associates of someone Jackie has angered recently. But that list can potentially be way too long. We know that it can’t be Doyle. Despite his history with the IRS, it is highly unlikely that he will ask two of his associates to go after Jackie. So, we are ultimately back to either the mafia or Sinclair. Given what we know as of episode 6, it’s likely the former.

Tales of the Walking Dead Episode 5 Recap and Ending, Explained

    [ad_1]

The fifth episode of AMC’s post-apocalyptic series ‘Tales of the Walking Dead,’ titled ‘Davon,’ follows Davon, a man who gets lost in a mysterious town occupied by a French-speaking community. Chained up with a walker, Davon tries to find out what really happened to him by making sense of the fragments of his memory. As he progresses with the same, a group of people accuses him of murdering their loved ones. To save his own life, Davon sets out to unravel the truth behind the murders. The engrossing episode ends with astounding revelations and unanswered questions. If you wish to dive deep into the same, let us be your ally! SPOILERS AHEAD.

Tales of the Walking Dead Episode 5 Recap

‘Davon’ begins with Davon waking up in the woods while a walker, with whom he is sharing a handcuff. Upon resisting the walker who tries to eat him, he realizes that a group of people is trying to hunt him down. As he fails to remember what really happened to him, the walker starts to talk to him and accuses him of being a murderer. Soon, he connects whatever he remembers to realize that the walker is Amanda, the one who nursed him to health while he was lost in the woods with an injured leg. He remembers the warm relationship he nurtured with Nora, Amanda’s sister.

Gradually, Davon remembers that he is in Madawaska, a town in the state of Maine. After separating himself from Amanda, he lays her in the house they shared. He starts to walk again, only to get abducted by a group of French-speaking people, including Nora. The group tries to execute him for killing several children but Nora stops the same when he remembers that Garen, Nora’s son, is alive. The group members get polarized concerning stopping the execution and a fight soon ensues between them. Davon escapes from the scene and follows Arnaud, Amanda’s son, only to discover that Garen is under his custody.

Tales of the Walking Dead Episode 5 Ending: Why Did Arnaud Kill the Children?

After following Arnaud and seeing Garen under the former’s custody, Davon realizes that he is the real killer. Arnaud thinks that sometimes, “murder is mercy.” He doesn’t want the children to grow up in a tumultuous world, specifically after the zombie apocalypse, that doesn’t accommodate their innocence and purity. He believes that the children who grow up in such a world will only become wicked. As far as Arnaud is concerned, the world is filled with enough evil to accommodate ones that will grow and add to it. Such a contemptible belief led him to murder the children.

Arnaud perceives that there aren’t enough resources in their community to nurture the children that would grow to become burdens to their fellow human beings. He started his killing spree with Martin. Even though Amanda came to know about her son’s deeds, she couldn’t stop him. As a mother, she was scared that he will be killed if the truth gets out, which left her no option but silently accepts the murderous ideology that he is doing the children a favor by killing them. Arnaud doesn’t even think that he is a murderer. For him, he is saving the children from their potential downfall personality-wise.

What Does Davon Say in French?

After revealing the truth about Arnaud and the murders, Davon walks away from the group that kills Arnaud by saying “Je verrai,” which translates to “I will see.” When he finds out that one of the community members killed the children, he realizes that the entire community is to blame rather than just Arnaud. Davon understands that their closed-down existence and extreme concern about survival have made them nothing short of barbarians. The fact that the community members crave his death before even trying to discover the truth makes him realize that the people around him have lost their sense of humanity as much as Arnaud, who left children to death.

These realizations lead Davon to remind the community members that humanity and hope do exist in the world. He asks them to open their minds and see how people help each other and survive together rather than closing down their world to kill each other. However, Davon’s request to “see” doesn’t reach the ears of the community members. They make it clear that they are barbaric by killing Arnaud. Realizing that these people will not change, Davon says that he will “see” himself, indicating his plan to leave the community behind in pursuit of hope and humanity.

Do Davon and Nora End Up Together?

After Amanda had saved Davon from the woods, he met the former’s sister Nora and the two of them started to nurture an endearing bond. After getting better, Davon started to find strawberries for her and they even started to share their time playing piano together. Even though they didn’t affirm their feelings for each other verbally, they were able to realize the other’s love for them. However, Amanda’s death and the children’s murders changed their lives altogether. The misunderstanding that Davon is the murderer of her sister, son, and several other children kills the feelings Nora nurtured for him.

By the time Nora realizes the truth, Davon decides to leave the community and the people who form the same, including Nora. His proclamation that he is going to “see” can be Davon’s way of letting Nora know that he is parting with her. Since it is Nora that asks for the death of Arnaud first, Davon must have realized that he cannot share his life with someone wishing for the death of a fellow human being, even if the person is a murderer. Thus, we believe that Davon and Nora most likely do not end up together.

The Serpent Queen Episode 1 Recap and Ending, Explained

    [ad_1]

Starz’s period drama ‘The Serpent Queen’ follows the story of the infamous Catherine de Medici who earned the reputation of being so vile that the tag of “serpent” was attributed to her. Her tumultuous reign serves as the topic of the series which also focuses on her early years, when she was just a child, learning the ropes of love and politics and how to turn them in her favor. While Catherine is certainly intelligent and audacious enough to survive whatever is thrown at her, there are still a lot of lessons she needs to learn, the most important of which she learns on her wedding night. What do the events of the first episode mean for Catherine’s future? Let’s find out. SPOILERS AHEAD

The Serpent Queen Episode 1 Recap

It is the year 1560, and Catherine de Medici is preparing to crown her second son, Charles IX as the King of France. In between this, she is looking for a maid to serve her during the preparation and she finds a suitable candidate in Rahima. A conversation about what she would or wouldn’t do leads Catherine to recount her own life story to Rahima, asking her what she would have done if she was in her place.

A flashback leads us back to 1536, where a seventeen-year-old Catherine, being orphaned at an early age, is living in a convent. She has already started to exhibit her sharp wit and talent for being quick on her feet. This will certainly prove useful to her in the court of France, which is where she is sent by her uncle, Pope Clement VII, who has arranged Catherine’s marriage. While it looks like the beginning of something good for her, it soon turns out that happiness is not quite within her reach yet.

The Serpent Queen Episode 1 Ending: What Does Henry and Diane’s Affair Mean for Catherine?

Catherine had always been alone, and she knew it. With the death of her parents only weeks after she was born, Catherine is brought up in an environment that lacked love and care, even if it kept her alive all this while. Eventually, she is found by her uncle, but the timing of this discovery further convinces her that he wouldn’t have been looking for her if he wasn’t desperate to secure a friendship with France. He had no other choice but to marry Catherine to Henry. If he had a more beautiful option in the store, he probably wouldn’t have looked for Catherine in the first place.

So, it is with the knowledge that she is alone and unloved that Catherine arrives in France to get married to Henry, whom she falls in love with at first sight. Now, at least, she believes that she will not be alone. Here, she also meets Diane, who is not only her cousin but also seems genuinely interested in making Catherine’s life easier in her new home. Diane is the person Catherine feels she can trust, and with two people to rely on, she feels more confident in her situation. That is until she discovers that these two people are engaged in a secret affair.

It was clear to Catherine from the beginning that Henry shared a special relationship with Diane, who, in turn, seemed to be very fond of him. The fact that Diane was almost double Henry’s age gave Catherine the impression that the bond between them was closer to a mother-son relationship. But, in the end, it turns out that Diane has been making use of her position as a widow to continue an affair with Henry. This serves her well because Henry is a young man in a position of power whom she can manipulate for her own purpose. The only problem in her path would have been caused by Henry’s wife. But Diane is all the happier to see that it is Catherine that he is going to wed.

Had Henry’s wife been a proper princess, someone with a royal background and a higher status in society, someone who looked more beautiful than her, then it would have been a cause for trouble for Diane. Such a girl would have received favor in court, while also leaving room for Henry to fall in love with her and leave Diane behind. Catherine, on the other hand, is not so beautiful that she can steal Diane’s thunder. Her Italian roots have already made her an unlikable character in court, and the fact that she is a penniless girl who was brought in as a favor to the Pope means that Catherine’s existence doesn’t hold much weight. No one will pay attention to her, and this includes Henry.

For Catherine, this is just another hurdle in her path. Nothing has come easy to her, and this is another challenge that she will have to work her way around. It also means that she will have to work twice as hard, because not only does she have to win over Henry and the others, but she also has to remove Diane from her influential position. Diane’s presence in Henry’s life means that he will continue to be under her spell, and Catherine will never find the martial bliss she had been hoping for.

Are Ed Brown and Liz Woods Still Together? 90 Day Fiance Update

    [ad_1]

TLC’s ‘90 Day Fiance‘ offers us an authentic sneak peek into the lives of US citizens who are engaged to foreign nationals. While the series documents each pair as they go about their everyday life, we get to witness how differences in customs, habits, and lifestyles can prove challenging to a relationship. However, anything can be overcome with love and understanding, and it is interesting to watch how the couples try and deal with their issues in their own unique way.

The ’90 Day’ franchise spin-off show, ’90 Day: The Single Life,’ portrayed how Ed Brown and Liz Woods got acquainted and began dating. However, their relationship was quite rocky and even faced its fair share of controversy. Nevertheless, with the cameras now turned away, we decided to find out if Ed and Liz are still together!

Ed and Liz’s 90 Day Fiance Journey

Ed met Liz for the first time at a San Diego restaurant where she works as a manager. Although the two hit it off as friends from the get-go, the ’90 Day Fiance’ star was always romantically interested in the restaurant manager. Once Ed’s close ones and his dating coach encouraged him to approach Liz, he did so and asked her out. Surprisingly, Liz reciprocated, and the two seemed to have quite a good time on their first date. Interestingly, Ed and Liz had a whirlwind start to their relationship as just after three dates, the former asked Liz to accompany him to a wedding. Things heated up while at the wedding, and once the two got intimate, they announced themselves to be a couple officially.

Even though Ed built up a wonderful connection with Liz’s daughter, he worried if his own daughter would accept his new girlfriend. Moreover, the ’90 Day Fiance’ star seemed quite excited to be in a new relationship and introduced Liz to several of his family members. Unfortunately, this backfired, as Liz mentioned that she felt like Ed was forcing her into the meetings. Moreover, there was a significant communication gap between them, which led to their first break up.

Following the breakup, Ed went on a trip to Las Vegas, where he was spotted with several ladies around him. Moreover, while he found living without Liz quite challenging, Ed was determined to move on, and he even dated Kaory for a little while, going so far as to travel to Mexico to meet her in person. However, none could fill the hole Liz left in Ed’s life, and once the latter found out that Liz had sent a flower arrangement along with her condolences for his dog Teddy’s death, he reached out to her and rekindled their romance.

Are Ed Brown and Liz Woods Still Together?

Once Ed and Liz got back together, their relationship flourished, and the two were even spotted in September 2021 in Santa Barbara, California, where they appeared happy and comfortable in each other’s company. Shortly after, in November of the same year, the couple went public with their engagement, and it seemed like they were in it for the long run. Both Ed and Liz appeared delighted to have taken the decision to be together and were looking forward to a better future.

Well, we are happy to report that recent developments have confirmed that Ed and Liz are still together. The two appear ecstatic in each other’s company and even share adorable pictures of themselves and their family on social media. In fact, in an August 2022 post on Instagram, Liz dedicated a romantic poem to her man, while Ed called her, “My forever forever.” It is really heartwarming to witness their blossoming relationship, and we hope happiness never eludes them in the near future.

Investigation Discovery’s ‘On the Case With Paula Zahn: Identical Evidence’ follows the bizarre murder of Genai Coleman in Georgia in October 2008 and the ensuing investigation. The police nabbed an alleged perpetrator based on the DNA retrieved from the crime scene, but an unexpected twist baffled them. If you want to learn more about it, including the identity and current whereabouts of the perpetrator, then we’ve your back. So without further ado, let’s begin then, shall we?

    How Did Genai Coleman Die?

Genai G. Coleman was born on October 2, 1967, in the city of Elkhart in Elkhart County, Indiana. She was an elementary school teacher in DeKalb County, Georgia, and the mother of three children. Her family members reminisced how she planned on opening a preschool academy in her native city. On July 18, 2008, the 40-year-old was waiting in her gold Dodge Stratus at around 9 pm in a parking lot near Gwinnett Place Mall, Georgia, to pick up her daughter. Suddenly, there was a gunshot, and a witness saw Genai on the ground as her assailant drove away with her car.

The witness called 911, and the police quickly arrived at the scene to find a badly injured Genai barely clinging to life. She had been shot once through the chest and was pronounced dead at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville. The officers questioned the witness, a bus driver, who told them a black male wearing a “white shirt with a green shirt over the top” pulled Genai out of the car before racing away with it. An investigation was quickly launched, and the police began looking for evidence to identify the perpetrator. Her cause of death was determined to be the gunshot wound.

    Who Killed Genai Coleman?

The police located Genai Coleman’s stolen Dodge Stratus the following day in the parking space of a diner at Forest Park, Georgia, about 40 miles away from the crime scene. Upon inspecting the car, forensic analysts found a cigarette butt in it as well as fingerprints of the perpetrator on the door frame. All the forensic evidence was collected and sent to the police lab for testing. The investigators also checked the surveillance footage from the crime scene as well as the location from where the stolen car was retrieved, anticipating catching a glimpse of the killer.

Upon reviewing the surveillance cameras from both areas, the police found an individual wearing clothes matching the description of the witness in both footages. He was seen purchasing a packet of cigarettes near the crime scene and strolled through a parking lot that was very close to where the victim’s stolen car had been dumped. Moreover, the cigarette brand he bought in the first footage matched the cigarette butt found in the car.

The investigators understood that they had found their killer but had to wait till the DNA results came in. It revealed that the killer was a man and the police even got a CODIS hit when they ran it through the national database. The DNA was from a man named Donald Eugene Smith, who reportedly had a weapon-related conviction in the past. The Gwinnett County Police were sure that they had found their killer. But when they arrested Donald on February 3, 2010, he declined to have anything to do with the crime.

Donald maintained that he had never seen the victim or her car and insisted that the DNA evidence was misleading. The investigators were in for a bizarre turn of events when they showed the surveillance footage to Donald. He claimed that the person in the videos was not him but his identical twin brother, Ronald Edward Smith. Even the phone number the police had traced belonged to Ronald. For the uninitiated, DNA gets split between twins and is indistinguishable as identical twins have identical DNA profiles.

When Donald’s other family members, such as his parents and sister, confirmed that the individual seen in the footage was Ronald, the police were in for a fix. They arrested Ronald on February 6, 2010.  When his fingerprints matched the ones on the victim’s car and cell tower information revealed that his phone had been in the area of the crime on the night of Genai’s murder, a detective testified Ronald confessed to the crime and went on trial in October 2012.

    Where is Ronald Smith Today?

Ronald Smith claimed he did not intend to shoot Genai, but the gun went off while he was struggling to steal her car. However, during his trial, Ronald reportedly claimed that he was not the perpetrator, blaming his twin brother for the crime. His defense counsel contended that their client’s fingerprints were on the car because he had helped his brother clean it up.

The jury did not believe the 54-year-old and convicted him of murder, carjacking, and possession of a firearm during a crime. He was sentenced to life in prison for the murder, 20 years for carjacking, and 5 years for firearm possession. His total sentence amounted to life plus 25 years. Ronald Smith is presently incarcerated in a prison cell at Wheeler Correctional Facility in Alamo, Georgia.

Investigation Discovery’s ‘On the Case With Paula Zahn: No GoodByes’ follows the assault on 17-year-old Brittani Marcell in Alberquerque, New Mexico, in 2008. The episode narrates how the investigators made use of groundbreaking technology to finally nab the killer after nearly a decade of the assault. If you are intrigued and want to know all about the case as well as the identity and current whereabouts of the killer, we’ve your back. Let’s dive into it then, shall we?

    How was Brittani Marcell Assaulted?

Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Brittani Marcell was an energetic and bubbly 17-year-old high school student. She was a fun-loving and outgoing person, had a brother and five sisters, and worked at a sunglass kiosk at the Cottonwood Mall. On September 11, 2008, Brittani had driven back home from her local school and was waiting for her mother, Diane Marcell, to arrive home. The mother-daughter duo was to have lunch together. But when Diane arrived at the Marcell residence, she was shocked to find her daughter bleeding on the floor.

The stranger was holding a shovel over her daughter’s unconscious body but dropped it on seeing Diane. He walked through their living and dining rooms, to the kitchen, threatening the mother and reaching for a butcher knife. Fearing for her life, Diane ran out of her home, screaming to garner attention. She returned with help to find the assailant gone through the window and rushed her bleeding and unconscious daughter to the local hospital. The doctors had little hope for her survival.

Brittani had suffered several lacerations on her head and face, multiple skull fractures, and a broken wrist and arm. She was admitted to the hospital in critical condition, with minimal brain activity, fixed pupils, a crushed ear canal, and severely damaged optic nerve. It took many weeks for her to come out of her medically induced coma, only to lose almost all recollections of her high school life and even the brutal assault on her. Her family was terrified of the assailant and even had Brittani admitted to the hospital under a false name. After five months, Brittani was discharged from the hospital.

The Marcell family shifted to Texas and got Brittani admitted to an intense rehabilitation program. She lost her left eyesight and was declared permanently deaf in one ear. Initially confused and scared due to her memory loss, Brittani was able to regain most of her abilities following cognitive behavioral therapy. She credited her mother’s support as a major contributor to her recovery. She said, “She’s been there with me on every medical appointment, every surgery, it’s like she’s somebody who I look up to very much so, she’s like my best friend now.”

    Who Assaulted Brittani Marcell?

The investigators had swarmed the quiet neighborhood of the Marcell residence and began looking for evidence. They quickly discovered the bloody shovel, roll of duct tape, and knife left behind by the escaping assailant. However, the major find was a droplet of the killer’s blood — he had cut himself on a shard of a glass of the broken dining room window through which he escaped. The detectives were confident that it would prove to be an essential clue. But unfortunately, they could not find any match after running it through the national CODIS database.

They looked into Brittani’s social life, went through her past and present relationships, and even people she might have interacted with at her job. They even looked into the lives of her siblings, searching for a potential suspect. But her case turned cold when the authorities could not come up with any possible suspects or leads. Her case was re-opened in 2013, and investigators encouraged Brittani to undergo hypnosis in 2014 as it might help her to recover her suppressed memory.

The hypnosis partially helped, with Brittani remembering a vague description of her killer, who was tall with spikey hair and a fair complexion. While she could not recollect his name, she recalled him to be someone she had met at work. In 2016, Brittani came up with a name – Justin – and her sisters recognized the name. Justin Hansen was a handsome and popular guy, working at the mall, and used to interact with Brittani there.

Investigators had also decided to take the help of a DNA technology company that had developed a groundbreaking innovation that can make use of DNA to determine the concerned individual’s genetic characteristics, such as their eye or hair color. When they received the result, they found it to be almost identical to the Justin the Marcell family was talking about. The investigators paid Justin, who was a married father of four children, a visit, but he denied knowing Brittani.

Nevertheless, the police had a witness who distinctly remembered Justin talking with Brittani for hours on multiple occasions at the mall. The detectives found him suspicious and asked for a DNA sample, but Justin deflected. The police got approval from a local district attorney and undercover detectives followed Justin and got his DNA from a cup he drank from at a McDonald’s. It matched the DNA from the crime scene, and Justin was arrested on July 5, 2017.

    Where is Justin Hansen Today?

Although Justin Hansen insisted that he had not attacked Brittani, he agreed to plead no contest to attempted murder in the first degree and aggravated burglary. On July 25, 2018, he was sentenced to 18 years in prison as a part of his plea deal. He said, “It just seems like everything just kind of stacked up against me, from the get-go. The way everything went down, I figured the plea was the only way to minimize the amount of time I might be away from my kids.”

In March 2021, Justin applied for a reduction in his sentence. The appeals court ruled in his favor, giving him credit for the time he served on house arrest — 371 days on pre-trial services plus 14 days in jail. The state tried to fight the appeal, taking it to the New Mexico Supreme Court but was denied. Justin applied for another reduction of sentence, citing wanting to spend time with family, but was denied in March 2022.

Brittani believes that Justin attacked him because he was envious after she had turned down his advances. She had to undergo more than 22 surgeries since her attack. In 2018, she said she wanted to pursue her interests in journalism or become a criminal lawyer and help other victims. As per official court records, Justin Hansen is presently in NMCD custody.

Where are Justin Hadel, Tia Johnson & Junior Jackson Now? Update

    [ad_1]

Christine Sheddy’s sudden disappearance in November 2007 didn’t make sense to her loved ones. Her mother didn’t think she would abandon her children for no reason. So, the search for Christine continued for years until additional information led to the discovery of her remains in Snow Hill, Maryland. The latest episode of Investigation Discovery’s ‘True Crime Story: It Couldn’t Happen Here’ focuses on the authorities’ efforts to solve Christine’s murder and her mother’s long wait for justice. So, let’s find out what happened then, shall we?

    How Did Christine Sheddy Die?

Christine Marie Sheddy was born in December 1980 in Dover, Delaware. Growing up, she loved music, hanging out with her friends, and helping with the family business. Christine was described as a kind and loving person who always wanted to help people in need. The 26-year-old was a single mother raising three children, and at the time of the incident, was living at a farmhouse in Pocomoke City, Maryland, with two of her children and three other roommates.

Christine’s mother, Lynn Dodenhoff, heard from one of Christine’s roommates in November 2007 that she had suddenly gone missing, with the two sons being left behind. Lynn couldn’t believe it and reported her daughter missing. An extensive search provided no sign of what happened to Christine until a tip in February 2010 brought some closure. The young woman’s remains were found buried in a shallow grave in Snow Hill. Christine had suffered blunt force trauma to the head and face; she was hit at least four times.

    Who Killed Christine Sheddy?

At the time, Christine Sheddy had been living with Tia Johnson, Tia’s then-boyfriend Clarence “Junior” Jackson, and Tia’s cousin, Justin Hadel. All three claimed to have nothing to do with the disappearance, and over time, because no other leads turned up, the case turned cold. Junior and Tia moved to Tennessee in the years that followed, while Justin ended up in Texas. While in Tennessee, Junior ended up behind bars but wanted to move to Maryland so he could be closer to his daughter.

    Justin Hadel

Suddenly, Christine’s mother received a letter indicating that Junior would confess to what happened to her daughter if he could be moved to a Maryland prison. In February 2010, the authorities visited Junior, and a grisly story about what happened emerged. One report indicated that Junior and Christine were sexually involved while he was still dating Tia. But when Christine reportedly wanted more than that, Junior said no. As per reports, this led to Christine threatening to tell Tia about what was going on.

In a plan that involved Justin, who had just turned 17, Junior and Justin decided to kill Christine. Justin used a 2-by-4 piece of wood and beat the young mother, causing multiple fractures on her face. When Tia returned home on November 12, 2007, she saw Justin and Junior coming from the woods. At the time, they told her that Christine had run away and they were looking for her. But the two men had actually buried Christine’s body at the woodline.

    Tia Johnson

Another report indicated that Junior testified regarding Justin hitting Christine over a sex-related issue. He claimed that Justin and Christine had been intimate in the past. Later the same night, they decided to move the body; this time, Tia got involved. It was revealed that Tia drove the two men and two of her kids to a bed & breakfast in Snow Hill, where she and Junior used to work. Christine’s body was in the trunk. While Tia served as the lookout, the two men buried Christine in a shallow grave between the fence line and the guest house.

Where Are Justin Hadel, Tia Johnson, and Junior Jackson Today?

Once Junior Jackson spoke to the authorities, he revealed Christine’s exact location, starting a flurry of legal proceedings. Junior said he didn’t participate in the murder but did mastermind the cover-up. Tia and Junior entered Alford pleas for their crimes. Junior, then 38, was convicted of first-degree murder, and Tia, then 32, pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact and third-degree burglary.

    Junior Jackson

In October 2012, Junior received a 30-year sentence. Tia was handed down consecutive sentences of 5 years and 10 years, with all but 2 and a half years of the latter sentence suspended. She was to be on supervised probation for 5 years after her release. In 2011, Justin was convicted of first-degree murder and received a life sentence. However, the conviction was overturned in March 2015. He ultimately pled guilty to first-degree murder and received a 30-year sentence.

Where is War of the Worlds Filmed? TV Show Filming Locations

    [ad_1]

Loosely based on H. G. Wells’ 1898 novel ‘The War of the Worlds,’ Epix’s ‘War of the Worlds’ is a sci-fi drama series created by Howard Overman. When astronomers come across a transmission from another star, they believe it to be concrete proof of extra-terrestrial life. The earthlings wait for further contact from them, but things turn upside down when they get attacked. With most of the humankind wiped out, only a few people are left alive in a deserted world.

The survivors must team up and fight against the extra-terrestrial invaders as they strive to learn more about them and their motives. Apart from the intriguing narrative, the action-packed sequences against some interesting backdrops keep the viewers hooked on the series. Thus, it is natural for you to wonder about the actual filming sites in the show. Well, allow us to fill you in on all the details!

War of the Worlds Filming Locations

‘War of the Worlds’ is filmed in England, Wales, France, and Belgium, specifically in London, Liverpool, Bristol, Cheltenham, Birkenhead, Cheshire, Newport, Cardiff, Paris, and Brussels. The principal photography for the inaugural iteration seemingly commenced in late 2018 and concluded in April 2019.

As for the sophomore round, shooting reportedly began in July 2020 under strict COVID-19 regulations on set and ended in October 2020. The production for the third season commenced in July 2021 and wrapped up in September of the same year. Now, let’s traverse the specific locations that appear in the science fiction series!

    London, England

Since most of the story is set in London, it makes sense for the filming unit to utilize the locales of the English capital, at least for lensing some sequences. Located on the banks of the River Thames in southeast England, London is the largest city in England and the United Kingdom. It is considered one of the world’s major global cities as it strongly influences arts, fashion, entertainment, media, tourism, and more.

    Liverpool, England

For taping purposes, the ‘War of the Worlds’ team also sets up camp in Liverpool, a city and metropolitan borough in Merseyside. While the Martins Bank Building on Water Street doubles for the offices of the London Evening Chronicle, where George works, the Croxteth Hall in West Derby stands in for his estranged wife’s home.

Moreover, several shots are recorded in Eldon Grove on Eldon Street, Central Library on William Brown Street, St. George’s Hall on St George’s Place, and Sefton Park Palm House in Sefton Park. Sir Thomas Street, Dale Street, Princes Road, Formby Beach on Victoria Road, and Ainsdale Nature Reserve on the coast north of Liverpool also serve as important filming sites for the series.

    Bristol, England

Pivotal sequences for ‘War of the Worlds’ are shot across Bristol, a city, ceremonial county, and unitary authority in England. The team utilizes the facilities of The Bottle Yard Studios in Whitechurch Lane. Considered the largest dedicated movie studio facility in the West of England, it is home to eight stages plus three additional premium stages at the new facility. The furnished production offices, a giant green screen, and ancillary workspaces make it an ideal recording site for different kinds of projects.

Furthermore, the cast and crew set up camp in The Old Soap Factory at Gardiner Haskins on Unity Street, The Create Centre at B Bond on Smeaton Road, City Hall on College Green, Armada House on Dove Street, Charleton House on Great Ann Street, One Glass Wharf on Avon Street, and St. Matthias House on Champion Square in St. Paul’s to shoot additional portions.

Several exterior portions are lensed on different streets and roads, including College Street, Orchard Street, Great George Street, Queen’s Square, Stapleton Road in Easton, Broad Street, Redcross Street in Old Market, 1 Temple Way office block, Frog Lane, and Cabot Circus.

    Other Locations in England

A few portions of ‘War of the Worlds’ are recorded on Malvern Road in Cheltenham, a spa town and borough in Gloucestershire county. A disused oil-blending plant in Birkenhead, a town and ferry port in the metropolitan borough of Wirral in Merseyside, is reportedly used to tape some sequences.

Additionally, the village and civil parish of Great Budworth in Cheshire was shut off for three weeks during the production of the debut season. Besides, Delamere Forest in the village of Delamere in Cheshire is an essential filming location for the series.

    Newport, Wales

The filming unit of the Epix series sets up camp in Newport, a city and county borough in Wales, to shoot several vital scenes for the series. They utilize the amenities of a studio as well as the Newport City Center to tape the show. Not just that, interior and exterior shots for the third season were recorded in and around the Newport Civic Centre on Godfrey Road.

    Cardiff, Wales

Additional portions are lensed across Cardiff, Wales’ capital and largest city. The residential and commercial square of Mount Stuart Square in Cardiff and an old Toys R Us store are used to record several scenes for the show. Situated in the southeast of Wales and the Cardiff Capital Region, it is officially known as the City and County of Cardiff.

    Paris, France

For filming purposes, the team of the sci-fi series even travels to Paris, France’s capital and most populous city. Situated in north-central France, Paris is one of the world’s major centers of fashion, finance, arts, science, commerce, diplomacy, and gastronomy. Apart from ‘War of the Worlds,’ the City of Lights has served as a recording spot for many movies and TV shows, such as ‘Lucy,’ ‘Portrait of a Lady on Fire,’ and ‘Lupin.’

    Brussels, Belgium

The cast and crew of ‘War of the Worlds’ further set up camp in Brussels, the capital of Belgium. There are many sites of attraction in the city, including the historic Grand Palace, the Atomium, La Monnaie/De Munt, and the Museums of Art and History, to name a few. It is considered one of the greenest capitals in all of Europe as it has over 8,000 hectares of green spaces.

Where is Garrett Arrowood Now? Update

    [ad_1]

Investigation Discovery’s ‘Reasonable Doubt Aunts and Artifacts’ explores the story of a beloved educator’s sudden and bloody demise in June 2015. The residents of Perry, Florida, were shocked when Shelly Strickland’s life jarringly ended in what seemed like a robbery gone wrong. In a cruel twist of fate, the authorities zeroed in on her nephew as the one responsible the days after the murder. Now, if you’re wondering what really happened in this case, here’s what we know.

    How Did Shelly Strickland Die?

Shelly was a Perry native and lived just a mile outside the city’s limits at the time of the incident. The 50-year-old graduated from high school in 1982 and got her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Florida State University. Then, Shelly pursued her masters in educational leadership. The mother of two worked at the Taylor County School District for about 29 years, starting as a teacher, then becoming a dean, and ultimately the principal of an elementary school.

But it all changed on June 24, 2015, when Shelly was found dead behind the wheel of her car. Curiously, the vehicle was parked in the garage, and it appeared that someone had shot her three times in the face through the driver’s side window. The murder weapon was a small caliber handgun, and the driver’s side window was shattered, with glass pieces on the garage floor. The investigation revealed that robbery was the motive.

    Who Killed Shelly Strickland?

The authorities noted that the gun cabinet was forcibly opened inside Shelly’s house, and a .45 caliber and a .375 magnum had been stolen. The victim was also an avid collector of arrowheads; the police learned that many of her arrowheads and artifacts were taken. To solve the case, it became imperative to track the stolen goods in case they were being sold elsewhere.

Once the police looked into that, they were led to three people: Garrett Arrowood, Shelly’s then 26 years old nephew, and a father and son named Rodney and Manden Whiddon. The authorities believed that the three of them were involved in the planning and robbing of the house that ended with Shelly’s death. After that, the trio tried to sell the stolen goods at a local furniture store and out of the trunk of Garrett’s car.

The arrowheads were worth around $4,000, but the group sold them for $330 two days after the 50-year-old educator was found. Manden provided the authorities with more information after the arrest. He took them to a camper on his grandmother’s property, where the three of them lived at the time. There, a .32-caliber handgun was found under the mattress used by Garrett. Though that wasn’t the murder weapon, Manden told the police that he saw the former take the guns stolen from Shelly’s house into a barn and led them to their location.

Furthermore, all three men had a criminal history- Manden had served time for criminal mischief and property damage, whereas his father, Rodney’s history went back to 1987. Garrett smoked a lot of marijuana and had been charged with burglary, driving under the influence, and dealing in stolen property, among other things, in the past.

Witnesses told police that the Whiddons mentioned details about the case that weren’t available publicly. Moreover, Manden was seen near the crime scene around when Shelly was believed to have been killed. He later told the police that Garrett shot his aunt during a confrontation in the garage after she returned home early. In addition, blood found on the driver’s side door panel and the seat matched Rodney’s, while the blood on a t-shirt found in the back of the vehicle matched his son’s.

    Where is Garrett Arrowood Today?

In 2016, Garrett was convicted of first-degree murder, burglary, and trafficking of stolen property. In April that year, he was sentenced to serve life in prison. Meanwhile, Manden took a plea deal in February 2017, and for his involvement, he was sentenced to serve 15 years in prison, followed by another 15 years of probation. Finally, Rodney also agreed to a plea deal after Manden recanted some of his prior testimony. He received a 30-year sentence for dealing in stolen property. Prison records indicate that Garrett remains incarcerated at Marion Correctional Institution in Ocala, Florida.

  • Are Kody and Robyn Brown Still Together? Sister Wives Update

Are Kody and Robyn Brown Still Together? Sister Wives Update

    [ad_1]

TLC’s ‘Sister Wives’ is a reality series that revolves around the polygamous marriage of Kody Brown and his four wives. The show first aired in 2010 and introduced the general public to the idea of polygamy and how the Browns adhered to the concept while maintaining legal boundaries. Legally, Kody is only married to one of his wives at any given time, though he is spiritually married to his other wives.

As expected, the unusual family dynamics lead to several dramatic and captivating moments that viewers can’t get enough of. One of the most significant relationships in the show is between Kody and Robyn Brown. Fans are curious just how the two got together and if they are still with each other after so long. Luckily, we have just the answers you need!

Kody And Robyn’s Sister Wives Journey

When Kody met Robyn for the first time, he was already married to his three other wives, Meri, Janelle, and Christine Brown. Initially, he had not been very receptive to marrying Robyn. “She looked like a soccer mom,” he shared on the show. “She had a van, three kids, and was divorced. I thought, ‘I didn’t need a van, a divorced woman, and three kids in my life — that’s just trouble.’” Robyn had previously been married to David Jessop, whom she divorced in 2007, and has three children, David, Aurora, and Breanna, with him.

Kody and Meri met Robyn during an event thrown together by the latter’s cousin. The start of the TLC series shows his courting process as he and Robyn build their relationship, culminating in a spiritual marriage between the couple in May 2010. At the time, Kody was legally married to his first wife, Meri, and spiritually bonded with Janelle and Christine. The whole family soon moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, and Robyn gave birth to her and Kody’s first child- a son named Solomon, in October 2011.

Unlike his previous marriages, Kody’s relationship with Robyn caused significant stress in the family, with the other three sister wives not being pleased with his apparent partiality towards her. Janelle, the only full-time earning member in the family apart from Kody, was stressed about the family’s financial situation with the addition of four new members in the family with Robyn’s arrival. She was even less thrilled about the 11-day honeymoon the new couple had embarked upon during a less-than-ideal financial situation.

In December 2014, Kody legally divorced Meri to make Robyn his wife, according to the law, while spiritually married to his first three wives. This was done so that he could legally adopt Robyn’s three oldest children, but it certainly did not sit well with certain members of the Brown family and their fans. On January 10, 2016, Kody and Robyn welcomed their daughter, Ariella, into the world.

The Brown family soon moved to Flagstaff, Arizona, resulting in each wife living in a separate house. This was unlike their previous living arrangement when the whole family lived under the same roof. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit the world, Kody established his own set of rules to be safe from the virus. Albeit, his guidelines caused a lot of tension in the family, especially during Thanksgiving. Did Kody and Robyn survive the ups and downs of their marriage, or have they drifted apart? Well, here’s what we know about the same!

Are Kody And Robyn Still Together?

Yes, Kody and Robyn are still together, both legally and spiritually. The couple was seen in the seventeenth iteration of the show, where they were not just in a relationship but also shown trying to navigate the departure of one of their partners. Christine recently stepped out of her polygamous marriage with Kody, claiming she had outgrown the polygamous lifestyle. Despite cherishing the time that she spent in the marriage, she swore to remain monogamous from that point on.

Robyn seemingly felt guilty about Christine’s split from the family and was quite hurt by the decision. Nevertheless, as many have pointed out, there were many changes in the established dynamics of the Brown family during the pandemic. During the pandemic, Kody spent most of his time with Robyn instead of splitting his time equally between his multiple wives. His marriage seemed more monogamous with Robyn, which ruffled many feathers.

Kody and Robyn recently bought Christine’s portion of the family property in Flagstaff for $10. While the former is disheartened about his split with his third wife, he has assured everyone that the two plan on remaining “committed parents” to their shared kids. We wish them all the best in their lives and hope they have a wonderful future ahead.

  • Are Kody and Janelle Brown Still Together? Sister Wives Update

Are Kody and Janelle Brown Still Together? Sister Wives Update

    [ad_1]

TLC’s ‘Sister Wives’ is a reality show that revolves around Kody Brown and his multiple wives. They are a part of a polygamous marriage, where he is legally married to one of his wives and spiritually to the rest. The series first aired in 2010 and has given the audience an insight into how the family handles its usual dynamics. It further explores the effects of any additions or subtractions from the Brown family.

Since the series was first released, the bond between Kody and Janelle has been quite strong for many reasons. However, the events showcased in the show’s seventeenth season have made many curious about the continuation of their relationship. Are Kody and Janelle still together, or have the two drifted apart? Well, we are here to tell you more about the same!

    Kody And Janelle’s Journey Together

According to Janelle, Kody and she first met each other in the fall of 1989. “When he walked into the room, I looked at him and had that feeling of remembering something I had forgotten. It was a singular experience,” she described the experience. While Kody was unmarried at the time, Janelle was married to Adam Clark Barber. Nevertheless, in 1990, she and her husband separated after two years of marriage. The same year, Kody married his first wife, Meri, who happens to be Adam’s sister.

Soon, Kody started courting Janelle, which made her mother very concerned. “My mom was worried I was getting sucked into some polygamous cult. But she ended up meeting Kody’s dad, and they ended up falling in love and getting married before Kody and I started courting,” the sister wife shared in an episode of the reality series. The development made Kody and Janelle step-siblings long before they had started their relationship.

After a few years of courting, the couple was spiritually wed to each other in January 1993, and in March the following year, Kody spiritually married his third wife, Christine Brown. Together, he and Janelle have six children- their eldest, Logan, was born in May 1994 and was followed by his sister Madison in November 1995. The pair welcomed Hunter in February 1997, whereas Robert Garrison came into the world in October 1998. Gabriel was born in October 2001, and Savanah arrived in December 2004.

Kody and Janelle are also grandparents to two beautiful children, Axel and Evangalynn, thanks to Madison’s marriage to Caleb Brush in June 2016. The blended family of one husband and three sister wives had an established dynamic for over 15 years, and by 2010, Kody and Janelle were the only two in the family who were working full-time to earn money. While Meri had a part-time job, Christine was a stay-at-home mother.

In 2010, Kody courted and spiritually married Robyn, initially causing friction in the family, especially from Janelle, who was worried about their financial condition. With Robyn’s inclusion, the Brown family welcomed her three children from her previous marriage. Additionally, Kody decided that she would stay home instead of working professionally. In September 2010, ‘Sister Wives’ premiered and made the family reality TV stars. Albeit, the recent events shown in seasons 16 and 17 have made many curious regarding the current status of Kody and Janelle’s marriage.

Are Kody And Janelle Still Together?

Currently, Kody and Janelle still seem to be together, yet not all might be well between the two. For years, the former’s original three sister wives have not been overly happy with his apparent preference toward Robyn Brown. Furthermore, the strain increased during the Covid-19 pandemic. Since moving to Flagstaff, Arizona, all the sister wives had been staying in different houses, compared to their previous lifestyle of living under the same roof.

In the fifteenth season of ‘Sister Wives,’ Kody shared that he had not been to Janelle’s house for over a month. This was partly due to all the rules and regulations in place by the government and the Brown patriarch himself. Though the two assured everyone that this had not affected their marriage negatively, things soon started to change. Thanksgiving 2021 was one of the most crucial points in Kody and Janelle’s relationship. Given his strict regulations, there was a possibility that some of her kids could not come to the collective family celebration of the holiday.

This caused Janelle to get angry and storm off; she notably spent time with her daughter, Madison, and her family in Utah during the holiday, much to Kody’s disappointment. Regardless, she did not take her spiritual husband’s disappointment lying down. Janelle stated that all of Kody’s attention seems more focused on one rather than all of his wives. In November 2021, Christine ended her spiritual marriage of more than 25 years with Kody Brown.

Since Christine left the family, there have been reports that Janelle is also rethinking her stance regarding her marriage. Some sources have claimed that seeing the former sister wife’s newfound independence has made the latter wonder about her place in the family. Whatever the case, the upcoming time will likely be far from easy on Kody and Janelle. We hope that the two are soon able to resolve their differences and amicably come to a decision regarding their marriage.

Where is Bambi Bennett’s Ex-Boyfriend Today? Update

    [ad_1]

Investigation Discovery’s ‘Unusual Suspects: Deadly Intent: Shattered Dreams’ follows the unfortunate story of Richard Gagnon, who was erroneously convicted for the murder of Diane and Charles Parker Sr., his girlfriend’s parents, in Nixonville, South Carolina, in April 2005. What followed was an 8-year legal battle before he could finally get out of jail though not expunged till now. So who exactly is this Richard Gagnon and what are his story and current whereabouts? Let’s find out, shall we?

    Who is Richard Gagnon?

Richard Gagnon was a 32-year-old white man residing in Horry County, South Carolina. He was dating Bambi Bennett, stepdaughter of Charles Parker Sr. and Diane’s daughter from a previous relationship, in April 2005. However, when her parents were shot dead in their Nixonville home in South Carolina on April 12, 2005, the couple was arrested on the charges of first-degree murder and burglary. The couple used to live with the Parkers for a considerable period before they moved out following a disagreement over inheritance and custody of Bambi’s two sons, whom she had from a prior marriage.

Richard, Bambi, and the boys, aged 12 and 14, used to live in the woods under a tent and only came to the Parker residence to eat and shower when the elder couple was not present. They later moved into a house at Myrtle Beach. Witnesses placed Richard and Bambi at the Parker residence on April 11, 2005. Investigators also found Charle’s blood on one of Bambi’s boots and Richard’s shoes at their house, and the couple was arrested in April 2005, two weeks after the discovery of the bodies.

In May 2007, the prosecution dismissed the charges against Bambi, with the blood report on her boot being inconclusive and there being a lack of evidence to tie her to the crime scene. However, the investigators had established that the blood found on Richard’s shoe was from the crime scene and reportedly got there after the murder. Richard denied any role in the double murder, stating he had been inside the residence after the police had retrieved the bodies to get Bambi’s course and car keys.

He claimed that he might have stepped on the pool of blood near the bathroom where Charles’ body was discovered. But, the prosecution had a final card up their sleeves – they presented another convict, Robert Lee Mullins, who had been with Richard during pre-trial detention. Mullins claimed that Richard had confessed to committing the murders to him. Based on this testimony and other evidence, the jury convicted Richard on two counts of murder and first-degree burglary on March 13, 2008. Richard received a life sentence without the possibility of parole because of his convictions.

The investigators had also found an unidentified DNA profile in the blood at the crime scene that did not belong to the victims and neither to the arrested couple. In 2009, the police finally found a match – Bruce Antwain Hill. He was also charged with double murder and sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole. Authorities claimed that Richard and Bruce had committed the murders together. However, Bruce denied knowing Richard in a prison interview.

    Where is Richard Gagnon Today?

Robert “Bob” Dudek, Richard’s appellant attorney, filed a post-conviction motion for a new trial in 2012. Bob presented a former preacher at Murrells Inlet Community Church named Robert Troy Taylor, who was a common link between Richard and Mullins. Taylor claimed that he met Mullins in the prison chapel of the Evans Correction Institution and Mullins had allegedly told him that he had fabricated his testimony in Richard’s hearing. Taylor and Richard were in a Bible study group in prison in 2012, and frequently played cards together.

During one such playing session, Richard recounted how Muller’s testimony played a central role in his conviction. Taylor was able to piece together what happened and stood by his testimony even under rigorous cross-examination. Based on it, Richard’s convictions were vacated and his motion for a new trial was granted in January 2013. With his retrial pending, Richard got his release on a $50,000 bond in February 2013. However, his case was dismissed on April 23, 2015, though it can be presented before a judge anytime in the future under a new docketing system in place.

The prosecution had stated that the charges had not been expunged. While Richard is now a free man with no requirement to report to a bondsman, he maintains a low profile. Richard’s lawyer said, “His words to me were, ‘I feel blessed,’ and maybe it’s that simple for him.” Following his release from prison, Richard, now in his late 40s, has found religion, as stated by his appellant attorney in the remand hearing. As per a 2021 report, Richard settled on the Carolina Coast. He is happily married and has children of his own.

  • How Did She Die? Who Killed Shakara Carter?

How Did She Die? Who Killed Shakara Carter?

    [ad_1]

A string of murders in Grand Rapids, Michigan, going all the way back to 1994, had the authorities scrambling for answers and trying to figure out if they were connected. Among them was Shakara Carter’s slaying in March 2007. The young mother was found on the street months before she was supposed to testify at the trial of her alleged rapist from a few years prior. Crime Junkie Podcast’s ‘MURDERED: Shakara Carter’ focuses on the investigation into the case and what happened in the aftermath. So, let’s find out more then, shall we?

    How Did Shakara Carter Die?

Shakara Carter was a 33-year-old with her family residing in Ohio. She was a mother of three who had fallen on hard times, leading to her family members adopting the children. Shakara was close to her mom and talked to her regularly; according to her, the young woman was turning her life around and planned to rebuild her relationship with her kids.

Shakara had recently dealt with breast cancer and had begun to attend church as well. But just when things seemed to be looking up for her, things came to an abrupt end. On March 16, 2007, Shakara’s body was found on a street in Grand Rapids. The 33-year-old had been strangled to death. At the scene, it appeared that a car tried to leave the area on a dirt road that morning. For the authorities, it was yet another murder in the same locality, leading to immense pressure to solve them all.

    Who Killed Shakara Carter?

In the time before Shakara Carter’s death, she was to testify against Scott Payne, a man she claimed beat and raped her. In May 2004, Shakara, who was a sex worker, was picked up by a man and driven to a secluded area. He then proceeded to choke and rape her before threatening to kill her. Days later, another 22-year-old sex worker was attacked but survived. When she saw the same man the next day, she noted his car’s license number.

The authorities collected the attacker’s DNA from Shakara, and it was then revealed that this evidence was linked to three attacks in 1989. In those cases, the women were sexually assaulted and threatened to be killed, similar to what happened to Shakara. Later, she identified Scott Payne as the attacker; he had been released about two months before her attack; he had served time for armed robbery.

But when Shakara was killed, Scott was in prison, and immediately, the police were struck by a distinct lack of leads. Over time, they explored other potential suspects and looked into whether Shakara’s murder was connected to other similar deaths in the area. On Thanksgiving in 2006, Starkinya Vance’s body was found close to where Shakara’s remains were found, and she was also strangled.

Furthermore, Linda Gardner’s body was found in a vacant lot in the area, and it was on fire. The authorities considered the possibility of the deaths being connected and looked at Troy Brake as a possible suspect. The police said he beat and almost strangled a sex worker to death in September 2008. So, the similarities couldn’t be ignored. While Troy wasn’t convicted of these murders, he went to prison for an unrelated quadruple slaying.

While the police have considered several suspects, Shakara’s murder remained unsolved. Back in 2007, her father, O’Neil Carter, wanted to prioritize finding the person responsible but felt it still wouldn’t take away the pain of losing his daughter. Shakara’s murder was part of a string of other murders where most victims were into sex work or had drug issues.

Who Were Terry Hyatt’s Victims? Where is Terry Hyatt Today? Update

    [ad_1]

Investigation Discovery’s ‘Homicide City: Charlotte: Trail of Evil’ follows the crimes and trial of the serial killer, Terry Hyatt, who had been linked with the rape and murder of at least three women in North Carolina between 1979 to 1987. The police had to rely on the confession of his two friends as well as DNA analysis to finally charge him with the murder of all victims. The episode takes the viewers through the investigation process and long trials spanning decades before Terry was brought to justice. Want to know more about Terry’s victims? Let’s find out then, shall we?

    Who Were Terry Hyatt’s Victims?

Terry Alvin Hyatt was born in Asheville, North Carolina, on March 28, 1957. Though living with a learning disability as well as being emotionally distant, he was a friendly child with a penchant for fixing old cars. However, one thing led to another and he transformed from a petty criminal to a serial killer, preying on estranged women from 1979 to 1987. Terry’s victims ranged from young girls to middle-aged women, and they were killed in the same way — first raped and then stabbed. He usually preyed on women working or returning home alone.

In early 1979, Harriet Delaney Simmons, a 40-year-old woman, had planned for a family reunion where she was going to be together with her seven children for the first time in more than five years. The event was going to take place after she would return from her trip to Nashville, Texas, on the Easter weekend. She was last seen on April 15, 1979, after finishing her duty as a night manager in a North Boulevard restaurant called Johnny’s Supper Club in Raleigh. She had left in her blue 1978 Toyota at around 1:45 am and had told her children she would call them between 12-3 pm on Easter Sunday.

Unfortunately, Harriet never called, and her abandoned car was found on April 20, 1979, at an I-40 rest stop near Statesville. The police could not find any foul play except that her keys and pocketbook were missing. Her skeletal remains were found almost a year later, on March 23, 1980, in a forest area near Candler. The car keys and jewelry items indicated that it might be Harriet, which was later confirmed with the help of her dental records. Her autopsy report revealed that she suffered from multiple wounds on her left chest that penetrated her vital organs, including the heart and lungs.

Betty Sue McConnell worked at an outlet of Dunkin’ Donuts in Asheville, North Carolina. The young mother had called her mother on August 24, 1979, at around 11:30 pm to tell them she was going to a local bowling alley to meet a friend. But the 21-year-old never made it back home. In the early hours of August 25, 1979, she was found on the driveway of a home situated a few feet from the bank of the French Broad River. Betty’s skin had turned pale, she was soaking wet, and her chest was filled with blood, but was alive. However, she died en route to the hospital.

Before succumbing to her injuries, Betty said: “I was stabbed and thrown into the river,” and “I was picked up at work by two guys.” Her autopsy report stated that she had multiple wounds on her body, from the neck to her stomach. Her cause of death was determined to be a stab wound just below her collarbone that “went through the upper lobe of the lung and perforated the pulmonary artery.” Just a few miles from where Betty was found, the police located her vehicle upstream and partially submerged in the river with the window of the driver’s side rolled down.

Jerri Ann Jones worked as a cashier at the Derita outlet of Harris Teeter. The 19-year-old was reported missing by her boyfriend on July 9, 1987, after he visited the store to meet her. The police found her body in the woods near Mineral Springs Road the following day. The young woman’s throat had been slit, and she had no clothes on. She was last seen alive at around 8:30 pm while waiting for her boyfriend in the store parking lot on Graham Street.

Following the discovery, a $10,000 prize money was offered by Harris Teeter along with a $1,000 prize money by a community program known as Crime Stoppers for any leads. The police received many anonymous tips, but none of them panned out. The case turned cold with no leads or suspects turning up.

    Where is Terry Hyatt Today?

Terry was arrested in 1979 for armed robbery and kidnapping of 40-year-old Carolyn Brigman. He received a prison term of 25 years after being convicted on both charges. One of Terry’s friends, Jerry Harmon, paid a visit to the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department in a drunken state on August 13, 1998. He confessed to being a witness to Betty’s murder, stating that he saw Terry rape and then murder Betty, before throwing her body into the river.

Harmon also stated that another of their mutual friends, Dean Helms, also knew about the murder. When interrogated by the police, Dean confessed to kidnapping Harriet with Terry, with the latter proceeding to rape and murder her. Following the confessions, Terry was arrested on two counts of first-degree murder on November 19, 1998. He was convicted of both the murders in February 2000 and received 2 death sentences for the murders and 6 consecutive life sentences for the rape, kidnapping, and robbery. He appealed against his sentences in 2002 but was denied.

While on death row, his DNA was matched with a cigarette butt and semen retrieved from the crime scene and body of Jerri Jones in January 2005. On pleading guilty, the prosecution agreed to not seek the death penalty as per the plea deal. He received another life sentence for Jerri’s murder that would run parallel with his other sentences. As per official court records, the 65-year-old serial killer is presently incarcerated in a cell at the Central Prison in Raleigh, North Carolina, awaiting his execution.

Later this year, on September 11, A24 and the Talking Heads are coming together to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the band’s beloved concert film Stop Making Sense. In the decades since it happened, Stop Making Sense has widely been considered one of the very best of the genre, rivaling the likes of The Last Waltz and The Song Remains the Same.

A24 has completed a brand new, fully restored version of the film, and it will debut at IMAX theaters across the continent next month. Members David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz and Jerry Harrison will appear together for a post-screening Q&A with Spike Lee at the Toronto International Film Festival, marking the band’s first reunion since 2002, when they were elected into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The late director Jonathan Demme helmed Stop Making Sense 40 years ago, and his and the band’s original vision will finally arrive in the gigantic, crystalline way they’d initially hope for. Rhino Records will also release the full concert on vinyl and streaming services for the first time tomorrow, August 18. Watch A24’s trailer for Stop Making Sense below.

  • Coraline Re-Release Makes $5 Million, Encore Dates Added

Coraline Re-Release Makes $5 Million, Encore Dates Added

    [ad_1]

Movie geeks keeping an eye on the weekly box office figures may have been surprised to see a movie from 2009 suddenly appear in third place in the standings this week, behind only the likes of Barbie and Oppenheimer. That film was Coraline, LAIKA’s classic stop-motion animated adaptation of the beloved Neil Gaiman young adult novella. Shattering the expectations of exhibitor Fathom Events, which re-releases classic films on a regular basis, Coraline made almost $5 million in its two-day limited engagement this week, setting a new record for Fathom as a distributor. It was such a success, in fact, that more encore dates have immediately been added at participating theaters, on Aug. 28 and 29.

“We’re thrilled to see throngs of LAIKA fans come out in record numbers for the third straight year to revel in this Coraline theatrical experience, this year in stunning 4K,” said LAIKA Chief Marketing & Operations Officer David Burke in a statement. “Our partnership with Fathom has solidified LAIKA’s modern cinematic classic as a must-see annual summer tradition.”

With a per-screen average of more than $3,000, there’s no doubt that this represents a huge success for the cultural cache of the studio’s stop-motion animated classics, which also include the likes of ParaNorman, The Boxtrolls and Kubo and the Two Strings. We’d particularly love to see Kubo join Coraline in this kind of theatrical, 4K re-release, and maybe now we’ll have that chance.

Coraline is of course the story of the titular young girl, who moves into a remote new home with her overworked mother and father, neither of whom truly have time to nurture her development. Feeling dejected, she stumbles across a fantastical parallel dimension that seems to contain more engaged and loving versions of her real-life parents, but she comes to understand that this fantasy world may be concealing a frightening true nature. Directed by The Nightmare Before Christmas and Wendell & Wild helmer Henry Selick, it seems to be only that much more beloved now than it was when first released in 2009. • Mitch Rowland Releases «Bluebells» – Paste Magazine

Mitch Rowland Releases «Bluebells» – Paste Magazine

    [ad_1]

GRAMMY-winning singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mitch Rowland announced his debut album, Come June, earlier this summer—along with the title track lead single. Now, Rowland is back with the album’s opening number, “Bluebells”—a twinkling, reflective folk song that pairs acoustic guitar with saccharine electric chords, a snare-focused drum pattern and gentle pop piano. Rowland’s vocals are mystifying, as he employs a whimsical, airy bravado that properly compliments the delicacy of “Bluebells” altogether.

“This was the first song I finished after finding out my wife and I were having a baby,” Rowland says. “We were stranded out in the English countryside for a little while and caught the bluebells blooming during that time. Seeing them is kind of like a wave goodbye to the cold. Quite a sight.”

  • Where is Efren Meza Now? Update

Where is Efren Meza Now? Update

    [ad_1]

In December 1986, Eva Crist’s seemingly innocuous visit to a bar in Yuba City, California, ended in the authorities responding to a bloody crime scene. Eva was the victim of a horrific murder. The case is explored on Investigation Discovery’s ‘In Pursuit With John Walsh: Unforgotten’ as one of the two stories highlighted in the episode. So, if you want to learn more about what happened to Eva, we’ve got you covered.

    How Did Eva Crist Die?

At the time of the incident, Eva Crist lived in an apartment in Yuba City. She was a loving mother to four children and always prioritized them. The 32-year-old made sure the kids had a home to live in and were clothed and well-fed. The children were with Eva after her split with their father, and in the time leading up to her death, she had been enjoying her single life.

However, one such trip to a local bar was the last time Eva ever got out. On the night of December 7, 1986, she got dressed up and headed to the bar for a night of revelry and dancing. But at around 12:20 AM on December 8, 1986, police received a 911 call regarding a woman being attacked. They rushed to the bar and found Eva in a pool of blood behind the rear doors. The young mother had been beaten and stabbed. An autopsy revealed 13 stab wounds to her upper body, with one slash that cut open her entire arm.

    Who Killed Eva Crist?

At the time, Eva had just broken up with Efren Calderas Meza, who was also 32 years old. The investigation revealed that Efren was abusive toward Eva. Furthermore, he had also threatened to kill her, making sure to mention it to her loved ones as well. Reports indicated that Efren said he would “cut her up” if Eva danced with another man, and it appeared that was precisely what happened that night.

Witnesses identified Efren as the attacker and reported that Eva had been punched several times before she collapsed on the ground. She was then stabbed repeatedly. Eva managed to get into the bar after being attacked in the alleyway behind it. She was rushed to the emergency center but died there sometime later. Once the authorities identified Efren as the suspect, they went about looking for him.

However, Efren was nowhere to be found. Eva’s daughter, Christina Gordon, believed that he was the killer. She said, “I know 100 percent it was (him). He was a very violent person. He broke her nose twice.” While physical and verbal abuse was alleged, it was never reported to the police. Honey Main, another daughter, attributed that to the times they had lived in back then.

Eva’s daughters also remembered Efren coming home later that morning. According to them, he went into the bedroom, picked up a few things, and left soon after. The authorities continued to look for Efren, but they were hampered because there weren’t many leads pointing to his whereabouts. Christina said in April 2019, “It’s not right. He took a mom away from four children. And it’s hard to explain to my kids why they’ll never meet their grandmother or have her there for special events in my life or my sister’s life.”

    Where is Efren Meza Today?

The authorities initially believed that Efren may have fled to Mexico soon after the murder. He was also known to use several aliases that were variations of his name. Efren is Mexican and is five foot four inches tall, with a stocky build. Over the years, the authorities have had little luck finding him. Efren would now be in his 60s, and as of 2019, a new lead detective was assigned to the case.

Eva’s loved ones hoped for new leads thanks to Efren’s age-progressed pictures that were released. Christina, who is only in touch with one of her three siblings, said, “I’ve been on the phone with the coroners, the lead detectives, everybody, trying to find out why nothing’s being done. It would mean the world to me and my sister. We’re the only ones left, and I don’t want him to get away with it. I don’t want her to die in vain like that and no justice be served.”
