La técnica para sumar y restar que nunca te han explicado
Un profesor de matemáticas ha publicado un vídeo viral en TikTok en el que explica una técnica mucho más efectiva que la que enseñan en los colegios para sumar y restar.
Las matemáticas son una de las asignaturas que más quebraderos de cabeza generan a los estudiantes. Muchos recurren a aplicaciones para resolver operaciones complejas, otros utilizan tutoriales de YouTube, herramientas de IA o recurren a clases particulares. TikTok se ha impuesto ahora y cada vez existen más vídeos que explican los mejores trucos.
Muchos problemas matemáticos no tienen una única solución, incluso las técnicas para resolver operaciones complejas suelen variar según los países. Los profesores y los estudiantes no se han puesto de acuerdo en algunas estrategias y siguen apareciendo nuevos trucos para métodos clásicos que prometen hacer más sencilla esta asignatura.
Howie Hua es profesor de matemáticas y ha compartido en su cuenta de TikTok algunas de las mejores técnicas para agilizar el cálculo mental. Hua ha demostrado en uno de sus vídeos que sumar números de varios dígitos de izquierda a derecha es mucho más efectivo que hacerlo de derecha a izquierda.
Sumar y restar de izquierda a derecha está subestimado
El profesor no ha descubierto ninguna locura, simplemente utiliza una nueva forma de organizar mentalmente los números antes de operar con ellos. El truco consiste en disponerlos en columnas colocando el más alto en la parte superior, luego se trabajará con ellos hacia abajo.
Esta técnica permite visualizar mejor las cifras y evitar confusiones típicas con el número que se lleva de una columna a otra. El truco permite simplificar la operación sumando cada columna de izquierda a derecha y escribiendo el resultado en la parte inferior. Básicamente, consiste en crear una suma más sencilla en la que no hay interacción directa entre columnas.
El truco es útil para sumar, pero puede ser algo lioso con las restas. Hua ha revelado otro método para restar números de dos y tres dígitos. En lugar de operar con cada columna y escribir una nueva línea en la parte inferior, calcula el resultado de cada una y resta los números que ubica en una misma línea.
La técnica de Hua para agilizar las restas es aún más eficaz con las operaciones con minuendos (primer número de una resta) que tienen muchos ceros, ha explicado Upworthy. The Thunderbolts Name Does Not Mean What Marvel Fans Think

It’s worth remembering that in the pages of Marvel Comics, Thunderbolt Ross isn’t responsible for bringing the Thunderbolts team together. He only takes over the team after it has already been established. Rather, that honor — or dishonor — goes to Baron Helmut Zemo, who creates it to seemingly step in for the Avengers, only for it to be revealed that he and his villainous cohorts have no desire to be heroes. Over the years, the team goes through numerous membership changes and leaders, with the Green Goblin, Hawkeye, and Luke Cage spearheading the operation over time.
At the time of this writing, it doesn’t appear that the MCU’s Zemo (Daniel Brühl) will have anything to do with the Thunderbolts’ founding, which is a pretty big change from the source material. The other major change is the on-screen lineup, consisting of Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), and U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell). In the comics, all of these names join the Thunderbolts roster at one point or another, but they’re never all on the team at the same time. In this way, the MCU’s Thunderbolts appear to be an amalgamation of multiple comic incarnations.
It’ll be interesting to see just how different of a direction «Thunderbolts» takes with the team and if there’s any overlap with the source material when the film premieres on May 2, 2025.

When «Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope» was released in 1977, it was unlike anything audiences had ever seen before. But part of why viewers connected so deeply to the epic space opera and its characters, whether they were aware of it or not, is due to the widespread cultural influences seamed within its fabric. Countless fictional and real-world elements, from «Flash Gordon» and John Wayne Westerns to capitalist democracy and the Vietnam War, laid the groundwork for the game-changing blockbuster and its subsequent franchise. The imposing Darth Vader, whose connections to samurai culture originated long before the advent of AI, was no exception.
It’s easy to draw similarities between Vader’s helmet and mask and a samurai’s kabuto and men-yoroi, facial armor designed to intimidate enemies. As concept artist Ralph McQuarrie explained in the book «Star Wars: From Concept to Screen to Collectible» (via «Force Material»), «[George Lucas] suggested that maybe Vader could be in a silk robe that always fluttered as he came in, and he might have his face covered with black silk and have some kind of big helmet like a Japanese warrior.» The creator took particular inspiration from Date Masamune, an especially powerful daimyo from Japan’s Edo period. Like Vader, Masamune grew up in politically tumultuous times, had a parent killed early in life, and rose to become one of the country’s most brutal yet formidable warriors and leaders.

The Amazon Prime Rom-Com Blowing Up The Charts Right Now

We seem to be entering a renaissance of sorts for romantic comedies, as «Upgraded» is just the latest in the genre to be a hit with both critics and fans. Over on Rotten Tomatoes, Camila Mendes’ latest boasts a positive 78% Fresh score. Samantha Bergeson of IndieWire was particularly pleased with the picture, praising its performances, sharp writing, and powerful themes. «This is a story about women supporting women, especially across generations, and that’s what makes ‘Upgraded’ resonate more than just a frothy rom-com would,» she wrote, praising the creatives for breaking the typical rom-com mold.
Audiences on Rotten Tomatoes gave the picture a less enthusiastic 68% score, which is far from awful, but not as high as the one critics gave it. Over on film ranking and review site Letterboxd, «Upgraded» boasts a 2.8 out of 5 user score. «camila mendes i am reading your palm. in 20 years this movie will become a classic. i am a very legit psychic,» wrote user asolas in a 4.5-star review, displaying just how enthusiastic romantic comedy fans are.
For Mendes, «Upgraded» is another winner in her expanding CV, as she executive produced the Prime Video picture, eager to make it her own. «… It was really important that I came on as an executive producer, because I had a lot of ideas and opinions, and things that I wanted to evolve in the scripts,» she told Variety, revealing that she helped develop Ana’s character further. Clearly, Mendes’ notes worked, as it’s one of her highest-ranked films on Rotten Tomatoes.

James Gunn has previously teased a possible DCU connection to «Kingdom Come» and has posted about it on his social media multiple times. So, seeing him use a similar Superman logo but with a color change is a fitting way to acknowledge the importance of the story — even if a straight-up adaptation of «Kingdom Come» doesn’t actually happen.
Another interesting detail from the image is the Superman logo being covered in snow, hinting that the Fortress of Solitude, Superman’s Arctic home base in the comics, will likely play a crucial part in the film ahead. Those dreams will come to life because, in November 2023, it was announced Charles Band, known for directing low-budget fare like «Gingerdead Man vs. Evil Bong,» is developing a legitimate «Barbenheimer» movie. It likely won’t delve into how the patriarchy has degraded women or what it means to have a world-ending weapon put into the hands of the worst people possible. It’ll probably be sheer lunacy, which might be what the world needs right now.
The film will see a doll venture from her peaceful toy land to the human world (much like in «Barbie») and, after seeing how dolls are treated, decides to nuke the humans (kind of like «Oppenheimer»). As with Band’s other works, like «Bad CGI Gator,» it’d be best not to take this project too seriously.
As of this writing, there’s no release date for the real «Barbenheimer» movie. It probably won’t star Margot Robbie or Cillian Murphy, but it should be a fun way to keep the Barbenheimer phenomenon going just a little bit longer.

During most of its appearances in the Star Wars franchise, spice has been looked upon as a bad thing. In «Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope,» C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) laments that the Empire will toss him and R2-D2 (Kenny Baker) into Kessel’s spice mines; on «The Book of Boba Fett,» Cobb Vanth (Timothy Olyphant) takes out the spice-hauling Pykes encroaching on his territory; and in «Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker,» Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) is picked on by his friends for once running spice. In reality, though, spice is only as bad as those in possession of it.
The truth is that some raw forms of spice can be used for medicinal or generally positive purposes. Take, for instance, the ore variety known as ryll, which is found on both Ryloth and Aaloth. It is surprisingly essential to both scientific and military projects, but, unfortunately, it’s not typically used for either. Like other strands, it, too, is commonly used as an illegal drug rather than anything to help push science in a new direction or benefit military forces. With that said, it is one of the weaker variations and isn’t considered the most profitable for smugglers to haul, either.
Even though it could do some good in the Star Wars galaxy, spice can’t seem to avoid being widely used as an illicit substance. Thus, it stands to reason that’s the reputation it will carry in the franchise for the foreseeable future.

Actors Who Were Replaced After Getting Injured

It’s difficult to imagine anyone but Clint Eastwood in the role of no nonsense cop Inspector Harry Callahan from the «Dirty Harry» film series. Eastwood played the role in five films from 1971 to 1988, cementing himself as one of the defining figures of the neo-noir movement. Part of what makes him so perfect for the character (and the genre) is his trademark glare, incredibly steely and impossible to replicate. However, the «Dirty Harry» films may have been quite different if it weren’t for an injury to the original star: Frank Sinatra.
Back when William Friedkin was still in the director’s chair, the first film was essentially meant to be a star vehicle for Sinatra, with the main character modeled after him. But, after six months of tireless development, Sinatra pulled out (arguably a blessing in disguise, seeing as it opened up the door for Eastwood and allowed Friedkin to work on «The French Connection»). The crooner broke his wrist while filming «The Manchurian Candidate» and had yet to recover to the point that he was able to wield Callahan’s now iconic Smith & Wesson comfortably.
A number of other stars were reportedly offered the role before it came to Eastwood, most notably John Wayne. However, Wayne and Sinatra famously didn’t get along at the time, and Wayne is said to have refused to even consider the project because he «didn’t like being offered Sinatra’s rejections,» per Collider. George C. Scott, Burt Lancaster, and Steve McQueen all turned it down, and Robert Mitchum called the script «a piece of junk» when it landed on his desk. Paul Newman was also courted, and, while he didn’t fancy it himself, he’s the one who told producers to consider Eastwood.

While «Eyes Wide Shut» is celebrated for possessing everything that makes Stanley Kubrick’s work so revered, the movie’s production exemplified what made working with the director so tumultuous. The filmmaker’s extreme efforts to perfect his vision would result in the final product securing a troublesome place in film history.
«Eyes Wide Shut» began filming in November 1996, with most anticipating the shoot to last no more than six to eight months. As time passed, that outlook proved to be a little more than optimistic. Further predictions of the production ending in July 1997 were similarly shut down as filming continued in earnest. The movie finally finished in June 1998, wrapping up an arduous 15-month-long shoot. This resulted in the film receiving the Guinness World Record for the longest continuous film shoot of all time, a distinction it still holds.
As can be imagined, the grueling production came with a fair share of painful experiences (Cruise got an ulcer working on «Eyes Wide Shut»). Actors intended to have minor roles, such as Alan Cumming and Vinessa Shaw, stayed in the production significantly longer than expected. Meanwhile, Harvey Keitel became so frustrated after performing nearly 70 takes of walking through a door that he stormed off the set, with Sydney Pollack taking over his part.

Además, la inteligencia artificial es capaz de tener acceso a Internet o mantenerse relativamente actualizada. Entonces, ¿podrá llegar a ocupar el lugar de Google como “buscador”?
En estos momentos, la respuesta no puede ser otra que no. Y la razón para llegar a esta conclusión es bastante sencilla. Para empezar, son tecnologías distintas que, por decirlo de alguna forma, no tienen el mismo fin. La IA está específicamente diseñada para interactuar con el usuario, dando respuesta a sus preguntas y atendiendo a un contexto determinado.
Por esta razón, si bien el buscador de Google y ChatGPT guardan ciertas analogías, funcionan de forma diferente. Al contrario que ChatGPT, el buscador de Google está creado para funcionar con palabras clave. La búsqueda de Google se lleva a cabo rastreando la web y una enorme base de datos indexada, que cambia constantemente.
Aunque muchos usuarios utilicen a Google como una especie de chatbot, preguntando cosas y no buscando sitios como tal, su razón de ser no esa. A diferencia ChatGPT (u otras inteligencias artificiales similares, incluyendo a Gemini), que sí centra sus intenciones en intentar resultar lo más cercano posible al usuario, simulando una compresión real.

Teniendo todo esto presente, es fácil suponer que no, Google no verá amenazada su hegemonía como buscador de Internet por la inteligencia artificial. Al menos, no a corto plazo. En estos momentos, cuenta con aspectos técnicos y de infraestructura, como el rastreo y la indexación web, o la privacidad y la seguridad de los usuarios, que van más allá de las capacidades que tiene una IA.
Esto no quiere decir, no obstante, que herramientas como ChatGPT no puedan resultar útiles (ya lo son, y casi con total certeza lo serán más en el futuro) a la hora de complementar la información ofrecida por los buscadores. Es decir, que pueden mejorar una experiencia de búsqueda, pero ser la principal vía para ello. Por no hablar del enorme calado que Google tiene entre los usuarios.
Por supuesto, esto es lo que sucede ahora. Viendo el ritmo vertiginoso al que cambia el mundo tecnológico, es imposible saber qué sucederá de aquí unos años, o décadas, y no es descabellado imaginar que todo cambie.

The actor has his tie into the athletic world — speaking to Fox News in 2023, he confessed that he’s always wanted to be an athlete.
«I’ve always wanted to be an athlete, and that’s why I think any time I’ve had the opportunity to play an athlete in a movie I’m kind of living vicariously through all those characters,» Wahlberg admitted at the time. He’s no stranger to performing in sports-related films, having appeared in the football movie «Invincible.» He also founded an athleisure brand called Municipal in 2019.
Fans will find out if «Arthur the King» is one of Wahlberg’s best or worst movies when it opens on March 15.

Fans have had fun imagining what a young Aragorn movie would look like ever since Peter Jackson’s trilogy ended. J.R.R. Tolkien’s appendices provided ample fodder for the imagination, but for years, that was as far as things got. Then, on May 16, 2018, fan site TheOneRing made the splashy announcement on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Amazon Studios would launch a series that began with a young Aragorn, saying they confirmed the news with «multiple sources.»
The concept of an Aragorn prequel is ideal for an on-screen project, and fans immediately started speculating about storylines, pushing the idea into the spotlight. For a while, it seemed like the show was going to involve the character and be set sometime between «The Hobbit» (when Aragorn is 10 years old) and «The Lord of the Rings» (when he’s 87).
Then, on March 7, 2019, Amazon Studios put the kibosh on the rampant scuttlebutt by posting a map of Middle-earth on X with the additional line, «Welcome to the Second Age.» This confirmed the show would focus on a period several thousand years before Aragorn’s birth.

On the Hollywood side of things, Sanada has appeared in several major movies, from «Rush Hour 3» and «Speed Racer» to the war drama «The Railway Man» and the Sherlock Holmes film «Mr. Holmes.» In the few years before «Shogun,» he was particularly visible. Apart from his roles in «John Wick: Chapter 4» and «Mortal Kombat,» viewers might have caught him as Bly Tanaka in Zack Snyder’s 2021 zombie film «Army of the Dead,» or as the Elder in the 2022 action thriller «Bullet Train.»
Sanada has also had a significant presence on the small screen. Along with a great many Japanese TV shows, he’s appeared as the recurring character Dogen on «Lost,» and also played prominent roles in the science fiction shows «Helix» and «Extant,» among others. Fans of «Westworld» may also remember him for his turn as Musashi, another of many distinguished roles in a long, illustrious career.

That Willy Wonka Event Horrified Kids

Nothing within that Scottish warehouse is as scary as the infamous «tunnel scene» in «Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory.» Led by Gene Wilder as the enigmatic chocolate maker, the families visiting the Wonka candy factory grow increasingly terrified as their boat ride enters a darkened tunnel. Soon, they start screaming for Wonka to turn around, but he remains steadfast. (That’s one word for it. Another is that he seems demonically possessed as he demands that the boat go faster.) Then, there’s the song! After saying there’s no way of telling where the boat is going, Wonka follows that verse with this horrifying rhyme: «Not a speck of light is showing / So the danger must be growing / Are the fires of Hell a-glowing? / Is the grisly Reaper mowing?»
Sure, everyone lives on after going through the tunnel, but Wonka’s whole approach to the situation is unhinged. So, what did the Scottish exhibition do to try and compete with its predecessor? They introduced a character nobody had ever seen in the Wonkaverse before: The Unknown.
