  • The War Of The Rohirrim Will Be Darker Than You Think For One Reason

The War Of The Rohirrim Will Be Darker Than You Think For One Reason

    [ad_1]

The darker feel of «The War of the Rohirrim» story is easy to spot in the source material. The narrative comes from a few pages tucked away in the appendices of «The Return of the King» where we get an outline of a fight between the Men of Rohan and the nearby Men of Dunland.

The Dunlendings are joined by other enemies of the Rohirrim from the south, west, and East. While these groups aren’t detailed, that last direction is capitalized on purpose. The upper-case «East» refers to an area where, as one may surmise, other humans dwell. Additionally, the Men of Rohan have one primary hope for support. That, of course, comes from Gondor — yet another kingdom of Men. In other words, while there is potential for other creatures to get involved, the source material for «The War of the Rohirrim» centers on a struggle between Men.

Zooming into the details shows things quickly getting grisly. The king of Rohan, Helm Hammerhand, is a brutish warrior who strikes first and thinks afterward. He is depicted stalking through snow, killing men with his bare hands. There is also a severe famine during the conflict, adding another distressing degree of complexity to the fabric of the story.

From inter-human violence to starvation and angry acts of untamed aggression, «The War of the Rohirrim» has all of the ingredients to be the darkest chapter of Middle-earth to date. The fact that it will be packaged in an anime format is even more fascinating. How will director Kenji Kamiyama, returning Éowyn actress Miranda Otto, and the rest of the creative team handle this more sinister dimension of J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendarium? Only time will tell.

  • Fantastic Four’s Original Thing Actor Confirmed Whether That Deadpool 3 Photo Is Real

Fantastic Four’s Original Thing Actor Confirmed Whether That Deadpool 3 Photo Is Real

    [ad_1]

Disney is seemingly leaning on characters from Fox’s Marvel movies to make up the «Deadpool 3» supporting cast. Hugh Jackman is reprising Wolverine, while some behind-the-scenes photos from «Deadpool 3» further suggest the return of the X-Men. As such, it’s entirely plausible that Michael Chiklis could return as The Thing from Fox’s «Fantastic Four» movies, as could Jessica Alba as Sue Storm and Ioan Gruffudd as Dr. Reed Richards. Chris Evans’ return as Johnny Storm would be tricky, though, given that he already appeared as Captain America in the MCU.

At least one of Fox’s «Daredevil» characters appears to be playing for the movie, given Jennifer Garner’s response to the «Deadpool 3» Elektra rumor. Quizzed about her reported appearance in the film, Garner didn’t try hard to conceal a smile when asked about the role.

Despite Michael Chiklis’ denial about the «Fantastic Four’s» Thing appearing in «Deadpool 3,» there is still leaked evidence that Marvel’s First Family of superheroes will appear in the film in some capacity. A post with a photo on X in December 2023 by Hollywood insider @CanWeGetToast said, «First look at Toad from the Original X-Men on set for ‘DEADPOOL 3’. He seems to be riding in the Fantastic Four’s Fantasticar.»

Of course, that could also mean the likes of Pedro Pascal’s rumored Reed Richards from director Matt Shakman’s upcoming reboot of «Fantastic Four» might appear. Fans will find out for sure when «Deadpool 3» is released in theaters on July 26, 2024.

  • Warner Bros Killed Coyote Vs. Acme And Twitter Is Furious At One Person

Warner Bros Killed Coyote Vs. Acme And Twitter Is Furious At One Person

    [ad_1]

«Coyote vs. Acme» was set to follow «Looney Tunes» character Wile E. Coyote as he joins a lawyer, played by Will Forte, in a lawsuit against Acme, the company whose inventions have backfired on him for as long as the character has existed. The movie is a combination of live-action and animation mixed together.

If this sounds like a great concept to you, you’re not alone. «What was so exciting was that it felt like the film captured the voice of the Looney Tunes that we love in a way none of the other feature versions have ever done,» said actor and comedian Paul Scheer, who was at a screening of the movie back in 2021 (per The Wrap).

The criticism of David Zaslav was especially palpable following reports that he hasn’t even seen «Coyote vs. Acme» and is still set on wiping the project from the face of the Earth. «DAVID ZASLAV HAS NEVER SEEN THE MOVIE,» emphasized @thatclarafied. «Y’all this man is burning WB to ground and isn’t even watching the movies. I’m begging the shareholders to get rid of him. BEGGING.»

These are but a few of the countless tweets tearing WBD and Zaslav to shreds, and based on this reaction, it’s possible that the corporation will re-think its decision, especially as it’s starting to feel more like The People vs. Warner Bros. Discovery.

  • What Happened To Felix In Saltburn?

What Happened To Felix In Saltburn?

    [ad_1]

Unfortunately for Felix, Oliver has been manipulating their entire friendship from the very start. After seeing Felix on campus at Oxford surrounded by adoring friends, Oliver sabotages Felix’s bike so the popular boy has to borrow one from Oliver. Beyond that, Oliver completely fabricates the details of his life; despite him telling Felix that he’s desperately poor and the son of a deceased father and an alcoholic mother, not a word of it is true.

Felix believes every word of Oliver’s story until, trying to be kind, he drives Oliver to the Quick family house to help him make amends with his troubled mother after his father’s «death» … but not only is Oliver’s father alive, but Paula and Jeff Quick (Dorothy Atkinson and Shaun Dooley) are nice, kind people with nothing but praise for their accomplished son.

Felix is understandably disgusted by Oliver’s deceit, telling the non-Catton that he’ll have to leave Saltburn immediately after his birthday party. During the party, Oliver repeatedly attempts to make amends with Felix, who’s completely uninterested and simply wants Oliver to leave his life. Much later in the film, Oliver reveals — to both the audience and Felix’s mother, Lady Elspeth, played by Rosamund Pike — that he laced Felix’s drink with drugs, making it look like his death was an overdose. Why? Oliver is obsessed with Felix, who rejects him; if Oliver can’t have Felix for himself, then he has to kill him.

  • Henry Cavill Is A Bigger Lord Of The Rings Nerd Than You Think

Henry Cavill Is A Bigger Lord Of The Rings Nerd Than You Think

    [ad_1]

Henry Cavill’s willingness to connect his pets to his fantasy acting doesn’t stop with their names. In the past, he’s gone on record as to how they play a key role in the way he handles his relationship with animals on screen, too. In an interview in 2021, Cavill shared that his close bond with his dog Kal was a key factor in helping him make a connection with Geralt’s horse Roach — or, more specifically, the two horses named Zeus and Hector who played the on-screen equine.

«Kal and I have a very close bond,» he explained, adding that when you spend that much time with an animal, «You develop a very, very close relationship with them, and you start to understand their body languages, and their energies and things which other people don’t see, you notice in your own dog.»

Cavill has always shared a close bond with animals. So close that his family thought his original calling was to be a veterinarian. At one point, Kal even came with Cavill to the set of «The Witcher.» There’s no news of Baggins filling that same role … at least, not yet. However, there are plenty of Middle-earth media projects in the works at the moment. If Cavill were to land a role in one of these new «Lord of the Rings» storylines, Baggins could be the perfect way to help him connect with both the talking and non-verbal animals in Tolkien’s world.

  • Rian Johnson Is Frustrated By One Common Star Wars: The Last Jedi Misconception

Rian Johnson Is Frustrated By One Common Star Wars: The Last Jedi Misconception

    [ad_1]

The exhaustive response to a movie as divisive as «Star Wars: The Last Jedi» would discourage most directors from wanting to touch the sci-fi fantasy saga ever again. But Rian Johnson isn’t like most directors, as the filmmaker remains optimistic that his world won’t be devoid of lightsabers and Wookies for much longer.

Speaking with Business Insider in 2022, the two-time Oscar nominee was asked how he’d feel if he never made another «Star Wars» project again. While he has had no shortage of creative projects on his plate, such as the «Knives Out» films, he nevertheless feels it would be a loss to abandon «Star Wars» entirely. «It wouldn’t be the end of the world for anyone, I think,» he stated. «But I would be sad. I love the world. I love the people. I love ‘Star Wars’ fans. I love the passion of how they engage in it, there’s nothing like telling a story in this world and then experiencing people truly connecting to it and letting you know that. It’s extraordinary. So I’m hoping I get to do it again, but nothing is the end of the world until the end of the world actually happens, which, what day of the week is it?»

Leading up to the release of «The Last Jedi,» it was announced that Johnson would be helming a new «Star Wars» trilogy focused on a different set of characters. Since then, his busy schedule has made it difficult for Johnson to commit to making these films happen. But if his passion for this franchise means anything, it won’t take long for the Force to be with Johnson once more.

  • Lord Of The Rings Movies Cut A Key Book Scene Where Sam Totally Changes The Shire

Lord Of The Rings Movies Cut A Key Book Scene Where Sam Totally Changes The Shire

    [ad_1]

Sam’s transformation of the Shire begins in Lothlórien on his way to Mount Doom, when Galadriel gives each of the members of the Fellowship a gift as they prepare to leave. In the scene depicting this in the extended edition of Peter Jackson’s adaptation, Sam is given a coil of Elven rope. But while the Hobbit does get his hands on some in the source material, that isn’t his gift from Galadriel. No, Sam’s gift is very different and utterly unique.

In the «Fellowship of the Ring» book, the exchange starts with the Lady of Lórien saying, «For you little gardener and lover of trees, I have only a small gift.» She then gives Sam a tiny box of plain gray wood with a single «G» rune on its lid, which she says cleverly stands for both «Galadriel» and «garden.»

Telling the Hobbit hero what’s inside, she continues, «In this box there is earth from my orchard, and such blessing as Galadriel has still to bestow is upon it. It will not keep you on your road, nor defend you against any peril; but if you keep it and see your home again at last, then perhaps it may reward you.»

She adds that Sam can expect big botanical things to happen, teasing, «Though you should find all barren and laid waste, there will be few gardens in Middle-earth that will bloom like your garden, if you sprinkle this earth there. Then you may remember Galadriel, and catch a glimpse far off of Lórien, that you have seen only in our winter.»

  • James Cameron Rejected Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Gruesome Terminator 2 Pitch

James Cameron Rejected Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Gruesome Terminator 2 Pitch

    [ad_1]

Fortunately, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone’s legendary feud ended when they became business partners in the Planet Hollywood restaurant chain that was established in 1991. Schwarzenegger recalled for British TV talker Graham Norton (via NME) that he and Stallone became close friends when they flew around the world together to promote the business venture.

Whether James Cameron’s talk with Schwarzenegger over his thirst for cinematic blood in «Terminator 2» had anything to do with the actor turning the other cheek in his battle with Stallone is up for debate, but it is certainly food for thought. «[Cameron] said ‘Arnold, stop it. You’re a very sick guy. I am gonna make sure that in ‘Terminator 2,’ you’re not gonna kill one single person,’» the star recalled of the director’s brutal assessment of his ideas for the movie during the AMPAS panel. «I said that’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. How can this be ‘Terminator 2’ without me killing anyone? At least throw a few token bodies in there.»

Cameron, as it turns out, was right, considering «Terminator 2» was a blockbuster hit worldwide, pulling in more than $515 million at the global box office against a $100 million budget. In the film, of course, Schwarzenegger’s iconic robot comes to the aid of Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) and her young son and future leader of the rebellion against Skynet, John Connor (Edward Furlong), instead of trying to kill them.

Schwarzenegger and Stallone, by the way, remain close friends. In fact, they appeared in each other’s documentary projects, «Arnold» and «Sly,» which both premiered on Netflix in 2023.

  • Christopher Nolan Isn’t Shy About His Love For The Fast & Furious Franchise

Christopher Nolan Isn’t Shy About His Love For The Fast & Furious Franchise

    [ad_1]

Justin Lin became a Fast & Furious fixture after «Tokyo Drift,» as he returned to direct 2009’s «Fast & Furious,» 2011’s «Fast Five,» 2013’s «Fast & Furious 6,» and 2021’s «F9.» «Justin Lin’s iterations, as they got crazier and bigger and crazier and bigger, they became something else, but something else kind of fun,» Christopher Nolan said on «Happy Sad Confused.»

The filmmaker has no issues with the Fast & Furious movies getting bigger with each entry because that’s what directors want when making sequels. «Everyone always complains that sequels get bigger, but we are the people making sequels get bigger,» Nolan said. «We do want them bigger. You don’t want them smaller. It’s the ‘Alien 3’ lesson … You can do it, but it’s not gonna make anybody happy even though, personally, I love that film.»

The Fast & Furious franchise hit a speed bump in April 2022, when Lin exited «Fast X» less than a week after production started. Luckily, the director was quickly replaced with Marvel Cinematic Universe veteran Louis Leterrier. «The Incredible Hulk» filmmaker must have impressed the producers since «Fast and Furious 11» secured Leterrier to return as director a few weeks before the release of «Fast X» in May 2023.

  • How R2-D2 Got His Name & What It Really Means

How R2-D2 Got His Name & What It Really Means

    [ad_1]

Star Wars has mythos that feel as rich and varied as any real civilization. As the franchise has been handed down to different creators and interpreted by fans, a myriad of origins regarding its most iconic elements have persisted. Even the names of many of these classic characters have differing stories behind their creations.

Such is the case for R2-D2’s companion, C-3PO (Anthony Daniels.) For many years, the neurotic protocol droid was long rumored to be named after the C3 district post office of George Lucas’ hometown. Even if this played a part in naming the character, it was done so unconsciously, with Lucas stating in «The Making of Star Wars,» «Once I had R2-D2, I had to do something sort of like it, so I just made up another one.» Similar explanations exist for the origins of names such as Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness).

Among the most varied name origins was that of the iconic Darth Vader. A longstanding assumption was that the Sith lord’s moniker originated from the German term «Dunkel Vater,» which roughly translates to «Dark Father» in English. However, further examination of early drafts of «A New Hope» had Vader and Anakin Skywalker as separate people, with the reveal that he’s Luke Skywalker’s (Mark Hamill) father not solidified until later rewrites of «The Empire Strikes Back.» The name came after Lucas attempted several unique combinations, such as Dark Water and Darth Wilson, until finding «Vader» the most suitable.

  • Endgame Meeting That Made Robert Downey Jr. Cry

Endgame Meeting That Made Robert Downey Jr. Cry

    [ad_1]

Robert Downey Jr. is far from the only «Endgame» actor to have had an emotional response to the film. As it garnered traction as a critical and box-office triumph, several of the movie’s cast members — particularly those who had been with the franchise since its humble beginnings — described what the Infinity Saga’s grand conclusion meant to them.

Chris Evans, who portrayed Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, in nearly a dozen installments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was among these passionate performers. He got sentimental at the film’s premiere, telling Variety, «I have a lot of my friends and family here tonight, and a lot of them are right up here. We have this bond that transcends what we do for a living … I cried like six times [tonight].»

Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner got similarly emotional at the event, sharing a photo of him hugging his mother on Instagram in the early hours of the following day with the caption «Wow… words will only betray my feelings for this movie … this picture from last night represents … love … pride of my family, my friends, and crazy for my [A]venger family.»

Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo used both «Avengers: Infinity War» and «Endgame» to argue against those who don’t believe that the MCU is true cinema in a 2019 interview on «The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.» «I have never in my life seen the emotional response [to] a movie that I did in those two screenings,» he said. «All these kids were bawling, crying, freaking out, screaming in the car. And that’s real emotion, I think.» Whether from the audience or the stars themselves, «Endgame» did whatever it took to bring viewers to tears.

  • Movie Trilogies That Don’t Have A Single Good Film

Movie Trilogies That Don’t Have A Single Good Film

    [ad_1]

The film rights to Veronica Roth’s young adult post-apocalyptic book series were snapped up not long after the first entry, «Divergent,» hit store shelves. The franchise seemed like a sure hit, since action-heavy films aimed at teenagers, like «The Hunger Games,» «Harry Potter,» and «Twilight,» were already finding plenty of success. The three movies take place in a dystopian future where humanity is split into five distinct groups, with protagonist Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley) existing outside these classes as a Divergent, prompting her to start an uprising.

The trilogy got off of a rocky start and soon fell apart completely. 2014’s «Divergent» grossed just $288 million and was panned for being too predictable, using tropes that were all too common in the young adult genre. Lionsgate pushed ahead, though, releasing «The Divergent Series: Insurgent» in 2015 to similar box office results and an even worse critical reception. The third and final entry, «The Divergent Series: Allegiant,» was an even bigger disaster, just barely creeping over its production budget of $110 million.

Things got so bad by the time the third movie was released that Woodley claimed the experience almost made her quit acting altogether. Meanwhile, co-star Zoë Kravitz told Dax Shepard’s «Armchair Expert» podcast, «I think as we went on, the story really kinda got lost and nobody really knew what we were doing anymore.» It’s little surprise then, after all of those issues, that a planned fourth film was shelved, leaving the series incomplete.

  • The 5 Best Kelly Reilly Movies & TV Shows To Watch After Yellowstone

The 5 Best Kelly Reilly Movies & TV Shows To Watch After Yellowstone

    [ad_1]

Thus far, there have been three Kenneth Branagh films based on Agatha Christie’s famed detective, Hercule Poirot. The third, «A Haunting in Venice,» features Kelly Reilly as Rowena Drake, the mother of a deceased child, Alicia, whom she hopes to reconnect with through the medium Joyce Reynolds (Michelle Yeoh).

Of course, Rowena’s real plan is to expose Joyce as a phony who is simply preying on the grief of suffering people like herself. However, she gets more than she bargained for when Joyce speaks in Alicia’s voice and declares that someone attending the séance is responsible for her death. This sets off a chain of murders in this twisty-turny mystery where nothing is as it seems.

Sweetening the pot, «A Haunting in Venice» was also well-received by audiences and critics, landing itself a 76% rating from Rotten Tomatoes. Though all five projects listed above might be worth a watch for fans of the «Yellowstone» actor, the variety of movies and shows that we’ve selected will hopefully help Reilly devotees to find something that’s worth their time.

  • The Oscars Are Adding A New Category

The Oscars Are Adding A New Category

    [ad_1]

Like so many sections of the entertainment industry, it’s easy to let the superhuman efforts of stunt coordinators, actors, and choreographers become invisible in the grand context of a film’s achievements. But without these tireless individuals, these achievements wouldn’t be possible. The high-octane entertainment value from such billion-dollar action-oriented franchises as «James Bond,» «Fast & Furious,» and the Marvel Cinematic Universe would not exist without the spectacular feats of these teams.

With the Emmys, the Screen Actors Guild Awards, and the Hollywood  Creative Alliance giving recognition to stunt teams, what’s keeping the Academy from making a stunt-oriented award a possibility? The answers are varied. «It’s just the Oscars themselves, they are very slow to change anything,» stunt pilot Steve Stafford told Scripps News. Others believe the Academy fears that stunt teams will go too far to get an award, with Redditor u/roto_disc commenting, «There will never be a stunts category. They don’t want people going out of their way to be dangerous to win a statue.»

Redditor u/scalablecory wrote that while safety is a valid concern, there is a relatively easy way to ensure that things don’t go too far. «I think you do this by disqualifying a stunt if it was performed unsafely,» they responded. «Bake it into the rules.» It may not be clear why the Academy has yet to give stunt teams the awards they deserve, but a solution may not be too far away.

  • The Marvel Fan Trailer With Robert Downey Jr. & Katherine Langford Explained

The Marvel Fan Trailer With Robert Downey Jr. & Katherine Langford Explained

    [ad_1]

According to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, Robert Downey Jr. will never return as Iron Man. Speaking to Vanity Fair about Tony Stark’s death, Feige said, «We are going to keep that moment and not touch that moment again. We all worked very hard for many years to get to that, and we would never want to magically undo it in any way.» Feige was echoing comments made by Downey in 2020 when he told the Hindustan Times, «I’ve done all I could with that character and can do other things now.»

Of course, in the world of comic book movies, anything is possible and studios aren’t always terribly forthcoming about what’s happening behind the scenes. The Marvel multiverse is already well established, and «Deadpool 3» will officially introduce time travel to the franchise. So if plans change, the tools are already there to bring Tony back from the dead.

Considering the struggles Marvel movies have faced recently, both critically and commercially, going back to the character that kicked everything off could reinvigorate fan interest. With audiences suffering from superhero fatigue, Downey’s return could serve as a reminder of when comic book movies were less exhausting.

  • Cinema’s Most Explicit & Uncensored Teases Explained

Cinema’s Most Explicit & Uncensored Teases Explained

    [ad_1]

The term «red band trailer» actually has a simplistic origin. The start of these explicit trailers features an advisory warning from the MPAA against a red background, as opposed to the green label featured on most regular trailers. As such, the red band moniker caught on as a shorthand way of referring to this specialized preview. Interestingly enough, there are also yellow band trailers, occasionally used for promos that blur the line between the red and green spectrum.

Red band trailers have been around for quite a while; the MPAA has used the system’s current iteration to rate movies and theatrical trailers since 1968. While sources vary on the exact timing of the introduction of red band trailers, their existence is known to predate the 21st century. These explicit first looks at upcoming mature-rated movies once played in theaters. However, a 2000 initiative from the National Association of Theatre Owners led to them generally becoming restricted from cinemas.

The internet’s rapid growth as an advertising tool for studios helped red band trailers become more popular. As such, many of the most iconic red band trailers of all time come from relatively modern movies.

Dave Bautista’s Hilarious Reaction To Dune 2’s Suggestive Popcorn Bucket

    [ad_1]

It’s odd (but perhaps not surprising given the internet’s collective filthy mind) that the «Dune 2» sandworm-themed popcorn bucket has blown up like this. «Saturday Night Live» even had a whole video sketch where people sing about how much they love the «Dune 2» popcorn bucket, and it’s not because their fans of the works of Frank Herbert. If something even looks remotely dirty, the internet’s going to have a blast with it.

Dave Bautista and Josh Brolin weren’t the only ones with thoughts on the bucket. «Entertainment Tonight» brought it up to other major cast members, such as Florence Pugh, who got straight to the point: «It’s not okay!» Zendaya was also against it but for a completely different reason. «Just from a, like, eating popcorn standpoint — you can’t get anything out of it,» she pointed out, drawing attention to the various bristles in the sandworm’s mouth. «It pulls the popcorn out of your hand … You go in and get a handful and then by the time you get it out, then it’s not in your hand.»

The «Dune 2» popcorn bucket has become a meme all on its own, and it’s hard to envision whoever came up with the design not seeing this as the ultimate endgame. Several people in the cast pointed out how the design is clearly effective because everyone’s talking about it. Soon, audiences can watch Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) ride a sandworm while eating out of their own sandworm when «Dune: Part Two» releases in theaters on March 1.

Netflix Users Are Warning Each Other About A 2019 Horror Movie

    [ad_1]

«Haunt» has moved around on streaming platforms since its release; the film is now available to watch on Amazon Prime in the U.S. For those wondering if it’s worth your time, critics generally liked «Haunt» when it came out.

Earning 70% on Rotten Tomatoes, the film was praised for its scares, which, while inspired by other films, still stand out. Justin Lowe from The Hollywood Reporter said, «With a simultaneous theatrical and digital release, Haunt’s pedigree, underlined by Eli Roth’s participation as producer, should prove a draw for both devoted horror fans and the simply curious.» Carlos Aguilar for The Los Angeles Times wrote, «Convincingly creepy while also slightly thought-provoking, it warns about deceiving facades because what hides underneath masks is possibly much worse.

While it might bring the scares, «Haunt» certainly feels like a few haunted houses removed from the work that Beck and Woods deliver with John Krasinski in «A Quiet Place.» Coincidentally, a trailer for «A Quiet Place: Day One» dropped this week, with the film set for release on June 28. Aliens or homicidal handlers of an abandoned house. Sometimes, there are too many choices, right?

  • Why Zelda William’s Favorite Robin Williams Movie Will Make You Cry

Why Zelda William’s Favorite Robin Williams Movie Will Make You Cry

    [ad_1]

«What Dreams May Come» derives its title from the «To be or not to be» speech in «Hamlet,» which is a reflection on meeting in dreams with loved ones who have already died, showing how they’re not entirely gone. The movie follows a similar theme, with Chris Nielsen (Robin Williams) and Annie Collins-Nielsen (Annabella Sciorra) having a great life with their two children. Tragically, the two children die in a car crash, and, years later, a car accident also claims Chris’ life, and he’s sent to Heaven, or at least a version of Heaven that materialized out of his imagination.

After Chris’ death, Annie dies by suicide. Rather than Heaven, she goes to a version of Hell that springs forth from her tormented psyche. Chris ventures to Annie’s Hell to save her and is ultimately able to bring her to Heaven with him. Even death isn’t enough to stop the love Chris has for his wife.

Sadly, the movie shares heartbreaking parallels to the tragic real-life story of Robin Williams, who died by suicide in 2014. However, «What Dreams May Come» does offer a hopeful outlook on what happens after death. The film suggests death isn’t truly the end, and, if nothing else, the love we all hold for our loved ones keeps them alive in some manner. It’s easy to see why such a film would resonate with Zelda Williams.
