Duke Dennis and Agent 00 ‘arrested’
Viral clips show a handcuffed Dennis being walked away by New York Police Department as crowds scream and shout around him.
Videos also show Agent 00 being taken away by officers in the street. However, it’s not clear whether they were actually taken into custody and detained.
It’s also not clear whether the pair will face any charges. They are both part of the YouTube collective AMP and make gaming videos.
Founded in 2019, AMP stands for “Any Means Possible” and has six members: Agent 00, ChrisNxtDoor, Duke Dennis, ImDavisss and Kai Cenat.
Dennis, 29, is best known for posting content based around the basketball video game franchise NBA 2K and has a following of more than 1.9 million.
Agent 00, whose real name is Din Muktar, also posts NBA 2K content and the 27-year-old has 1.7 million subscribers on his channel.
Kai Cenat taken into custody
Kai Cenat was arrested and taken into custody at 5pm on Friday as riots broke out in Manhattan over free PlayStation 5 devices.
He took to his Twitch channel to announce he was hosting a huge giveaway with free game consoles, PCs, keyboards, gaming chairs, headphones and more.
His event was due to begin at 4pm but Union Square began filling with people at 1pm and riots soon started breaking out.
Chaos erupted, with many settings off fireworks, hurling bottles and pushing over barricades and people were urged to avoid the area.
The police department declared a “level four” mobilisation, meaning around 1,000 officers were deployed to the area.
YouTuber faces multiple charges
The 21-year-old now faces numerous charges as he did not have a permit for the event or plan it with police in advance.
Police confirmed he will be charged with “at least two counts of inciting a riot and unlawful assembly” in a press conference on Friday evening.
However, the official list of charges has not been confirmed yet. The YouTuber was released a few hours after being detained.
New York City Police Chief Jeffrey Maddrey added that a huge 65 arrests were made in total, thirty of which were juveniles.
Many injuries were also sustained. When writing this, Cenat has not spoken out about the event on social media.
