Starbucks is offering free coffee for Veterans Day 2023

To commemorate Veteran’s Day this year, Starbucks is offering a free tall drink to all veterans and current military members. The offer will run in participating stores.

How to get the free drink at Starbucks on Veterans Day 2023

This year, Starbucks is offering a free tall (12-ounce) hot or cold brewed coffee to Veterans, military service members, and military spouses.

The offer is only available when the drink is ordered in-store or through a drive-thru, meaning you can’t order the drink beforehand through the popular Starbucks app.

Cold brew coffee is excluded from the Veteran’s Day deal and customers are limited to just one drink per person in the promotion.

According to The Military Wallet, the chain store does not require any military ID for the offer to be redeemed.

The offer is only in participating stores, so it’s unclear if it will be available in franchised locations, like inside of Barnes and Noble stores. Starbucks does not have an everyday military discount available but some individual stores do offer their own discounts, including many airport Starbucks—so it’s always best to ask just in case they do.

The story behind World Veteran’s Day

Veterans Day, as the name suggests, honors veterans across the armed forces in various wards. It started in 1919 on the first anniversary of the1918 armistice that ended the First World War and was initially called Armistice Day.

November 11 became recognized as an official national holiday in the US in 1938. The name was changed from Armistice Day to Veterans Day in 1954, in order to expand the recognition to honor those who have served in all US wars, rather than only WW1.

    Other offers on Veterans Day

Starbucks isn’t the only company offering up free or discounted items to Veterans Day 2023.

Dunkin’ is giving both veterans and active military members a free donut of their choosing on Veterans Day. At IHOP, they can get free Red, White, and Blueberry Pancakes or a free Pancake Combo on November 11 between 7 am and 7 pm.

Wendy’s is offering up a free breakfast combo during breakfast hours, but have to show military ID or a Veterans Advantage card at purchase.

  • Florida alligator attacks its owner without hesitation in viral Instagram video

Florida alligator attacks its owner without hesitation in viral Instagram video

    [ad_1]

An alligator keeper demonstrated just how easy it is for them to turn on him in a video that has surprised many—but that doesn’t mean he can’t control him.

Floridian Chris Gillette is a wildlife biologist and photographer who has over 5 million followers on social media.

Gillette, who goes by the name @gatorboys_chris online, provides underwater tours to the public in Florida. The “star of the show” is an “extremely calm” alligator named Casper, who he’s worked with since 2007.

Despite the pair having a 16-year history, Casper does not love him, he said in a popular video, before going on to prove exactly that. In a video with over 9 million views on Instagram, Gillette showed how long it took for Caspar to attempt to bite him—and it didn’t take long at all.

How quickly an alligator can turn on its keeper

Although at first glance, you’d be forgiven for thinking that love between Gillette and Caspar isn’t a one-way street, Gillette is more than happy to prove exactly how untrue that is.

“Hi Caspar, hi big guy,” he said in a rhythmic tone, before even touching noses with the reptile. “When people see that happen, they’re like ‘oh my god he loves you so much’,” said Gillete.

“I’m here to tell you, he does not. I’m here to ruin the fantasy. This is not a Disney movie. I love him, he does not love me and he he would kill and eat me if I let him”

To demonstrate his point, Gillette bravely dipped his finger into the water next to the gator’s head, and immediately the gator snapped at the finger. “Did you see how fast that was? That’s how you lose a limb,” he said.

“If I wasn’t quick and didn’t know what I was doing, he would have ripped of my hand.”

Gilette says the secret is having skills to know how to handle the alligator, rather than Caspar “magically” loving him.

    Alligators in Florida

Unsurprisingly to any, there are lots and lots of alligators in Florida, According to the Key West Aquarium, Florida has over 20 million people with over one million alligators. Gators live in freshwater rivers, lakes, swamps, and marshes.

In the southeastern US, there is an estimated five million alligators, including across Louisiana and Georgia. Florida is reported to be home a quarter of that population of gators.

Alligators don’t naturally see humans as prey, but attacks on humans are rising due to the loss of their habitat and “irresponsible behavior of humans” according to Key West Aquarium.

Other videos to give you chills

If an alligator snapping wasn’t enough, this video of a “monster bear” might be. Last month, photographer Brad Josephs went viral on TikTok after documenting what he described as a “monster bear.”

Fit to the Star Wars soundtrack, the video of the bear has been seen over 2 million times. The bear was described to be 1000lbs and was captured devouring a salmon to shreds with its teeth.

If you’ve already started watching Christmas movies this year, why not get paid for it too? Now you can with this dream job that’s willing to pay thousands.

Yes, you read that right. Cable TV is fulfilling the role of Chief of Cheer and is actively seeking applicants now. All the lucky winner has to do is watch 25 Christmas movies in 25 days and try out various subscription services while doing so.

You’ll get paid $2,500 and free subscriptions to seven streaming services, including Netflix, Disney Plus, and Amazon Prime.

Become the Chief of Cheer and get paid to watch Christmas movies

Cable TV appoints the role every year and this year’s applications close on XX.

The Chief of Cheer will be expected to watch 25 seasonal movies in 25 days and provide feedback on each of them. Each movie will need to be ranked on nostalgia, heartwarming storytelling, and holiday cheer.

That’s not all though. The Chief of Cheer will also have to rank the seven different subscription services on how easy they are to use if you had any problems while using the streaming service and if it has a good selection of Christmas movies.

“Be honest in your responses,” asks Cable TV. “We always strive to be as accurate as possible in our research to provide readers like you with the most up-to-date entertainment news and reviews.”

As mentioned, the Chief of Cheer will get $2,500 for the extremely, extremely hard labor you’ll be putting in.

But, what counts as a Christmas movie?

Since the release of Die Hard, what actually makes a movie count as a Christmas movie is a polarizing debate. Does a film happening to be set in December count? Does the soundtrack have to include at least one Christmas song? Does it have to snow?

Cable TV says its classing of a Christmas movie is broad and last year’s winner even included Eight Crazy Nights in their Christmas marathon. Die Hard is even included in the company’s list of example movies, along with Bridget Jones and Frozen. (If there’s a Christmas tree in at least one scene, it’s probably okay – but don’t take our word for it.)

Influencer references a ‘school shooting’ to help promote skincare brand

    [ad_1]

Social media users were left stunned after an influencer decided to use a school shooting as a context to promote a skincare ad. Seeing the backlash online, she was quick to come forward and apologize to the people.

A look at the skincare ad

Social media influencer, Cecilee Max-Brown had taken to TikTok to post an ad about skincare during Mental Health Awareness Month. The video begins with Cecilee trying on various products with a voiceover that narrates: “Life has thrown countless obstacles at me this year, from a school shooting to having no idea what life is going to look like after college.”

“In Support of Mental Health Awareness Month, I’m partnering with Bioré Skincare to strip away the stigma of anxiety. We want you to get it all out, not only what’s in your pores but most importantly what’s on your mind too,” it continues.

As the ad progressed, Cecilee further recalled the tragic incident and how it changed her life. It did not take long for the video to go viral. However, it led to social media backlash rather than appreciation.

While Cecilee has deleted the video from her platform, the clip is still circulating on other social media platforms like Twitter. It also did not stop others from reacting to it with one writing: “This actually made me sick to my stomach.”

Another wrote: “This kind of use of woke concepts and ideas for advertisement while also utilising being part of a school shooting as the main pull is demonic, no other way to describe it.” “Is it satire? please tell me it’s satire,” said one more. “Was she trying to be funny? Because it isn’t,” read one more comment.

“This is the most satire-ish real commercial ever,” thought another. “This has done a considerable amount of damage to my mental health,” said one more.

Cecilee Max-Brown issued an apology shortly after

As per reports, Cecilee, who was a student at Michigan State University when a mass shooting took place on campus, came forward and issued an apology for her clip on TikTok.

She said at that time: “I am so sorry about this partnership video. This was strictly meant to spread awareness about the struggles that I have had with anxiety since our school shooting. This partnership was not intending to come off as the product fixing the struggles I’ve [had] since this event. Rather, partnering with a brand to spread awareness of what me and so many other students have been dealing with.”

Later, the brand, Bioré, also apologized for the content and promised to do better.

    [ad_1]

After watching a woman fall from a ride and hang by her feet, you will never want to set foot in an amusement park again. She must thank her lucky stars for surviving the freak accident.

There have been several instances of similar incidents that have often turned out to be fatal. So, viewers are shocked by the fact that the woman in the viral video didn’t sustain a single injury, although, the experience may have left her traumatized for life!

Woman falls from a ride and hangs by her feet

The viral video shared by the YouTube channel ViralHog shows a scary incident that reportedly occurred in France.

The couple that filmed the video said they were at the Foire du Trône – a popular traditional funfair in France – when two girls climbed on the ride before them.

The giant swing ride – as the name suggests – swings the riders from a certain height, sometimes as high as a four-story building. They are supported with straps as they swing at a high speed from one end to another.

Even though the woman had the harness on, it appears to have come off as soon as the ride swung her down. She ends up dangling by her feet.

The couple that captured the terrifying moment said she should thank her “big boots” for holding on to the harness. No injuries were reported related to the incident.

    Rider was ‘lucky’

Several users think the woman got extremely lucky as the accident could have ended badly, while others have decided never to get on that ride!

“At least she didn’t fall off but I’m never going on one of those after seeing that,” wrote one.

“This is exactly why I just don’t go on this thing,” said another.

A third user said: “Imagine her head hit something at that speed. I’m glad she’s okay. Lucky!”

As no further details about the incident have been shared, it isn’t clear what caused the strap to come off.

Funny cat squeezing into narrow-mouthed vase will give you claustrophobia

    [ad_1]

There is a funny Internet saying that’s synonymous with cats – “If it fits, I sits” and the Orange cat that conveniently squeezes into a glass vase is living by the motto.

Animals are always cute to watch regardless of what they do and social media has shown us some of the most eccentric things furry babies have been caught doing – be it a baby donkey relaxing in a hammock or a puppy dancing to a hip-hop song in a box. But the video of the cartoonist cat is a total game-changer!

Funny cat squeezes into a vase

The video of an Orange cat forcefully fitting itself inside a glass bowl or vase is the highlight of November 2023!

Reportedly captured by a family in Monroe, Connecticut, the video shows the antics of the family cat that’s determined to only rest in the odd place, in an odd position.

The cat enters the empty vase with its head first and struggles to squeeze the rest of its body into the vase, but manages to get the hind legs inside as well after a lot of effort to shift and move.

But once it’s inside, the cat curls up into a fur ball and sticks its head out of the narrow mouth of the glass bowl to receive some validation from its owner.

From its body language, it’s clear that the Orange kitty did not experience any trouble doing what it did, although it was unnecessary.

However, it would have also been as interesting to watch the cat make its way out of the vase, which the video doesn’t showcase.

Viral video has users in hysterics

While the majority of viewers can’t stop laughing at the funny cat’s adorable stunts, a few think the video was claustrophobic.

“This gives me claustrophobia,” said one, while another added: “Lol. I was panicking”

One user joked: “More proof that cats are liquid.”

“Just the ears sticking out at the end. so cute,” read one comment.

Black ring ‘UFO’ over Disneyland presumed to open ‘alien portal’

    [ad_1]

Years ago, a man spotted a freaky black ring over Disneyland, and in no time, it was believed to be a UFO that could open a portal to a different dimension.

The sighting captured by the guests at Disneyland was unlike any other and the fact that it was real further intrigued the conspiracy theorists until the exact nature of the mysterious ring was determined.

Disneyland Resort Holiday 2004 File Photos

People thought Black ring over Disneyland was a UFO

On April 27, 2016, a video depicting a black smoke ring over the theme park surfaced online, and due to the lack of a better explanation for it, people automatically assumed it was a UFO.

A witness told Daily Mail at the time: “It was a windy night, couldn’t have been a smoke ring. Everyone watched it in fear/confusion. I half expected an alien portal to open up through this ring as we were gazing up in disbelief…The strangest thing I’ve ever seen.”

Ufologists doubled down on the theory, although, ring-shaped UFO are said to be extremely rare. UFO blogger Scott C Waring said upon analyzing the video: “Ring UFOs are super rare, but they have been seen. This UFO is over Disneyland and causes the family to worry about an alien invasion.”

However, there was no other solid evidence that could to validate the speculations about a UFO and Scott also suggested: “Since this is over a theme park, its possible that one of the rides may have caused it.”

Possible source of mysterious smoke in the sky

A year before the Disneyland occurrence, NBC offered a logical explanation for the smoke ring over Disneyland which was spotted several times before.

These smoke rings are reportedly caused from the use of pyrotechnics, which are often used to create the magic at the theme park.

“Creating smoke vortices generally requires a blast through a circular structure — perhaps from a factory smokestack, or a homemade trash-can smoke ring launcher, or a hippie-dippie apparatus specially designed for the job,” the report explains.

Who is the voice of Yzma in The Emperor’s New Groove?

    [ad_1]

Social media users have been wondering who is the voice of Yzma after a video from The Emperor’s New Groove went viral on TikTok.

The Emperor’s New Groove is a family comedy that aired on Disney in the 2000s. The show managed to put a smile on many people’s faces but little do they know that the voice of Yzma is portrayed by a famous singer whose Christmas songs are still cherished.

Who is the voice of Yzma?

The voice of Yzma is done by none other than Eartha Kitt. The singer is best known for her Christmas song, Santa Baby. At first glance, it might be very hard for people to compare the two as their voices are very different.

If you listen to Santa Baby, you will notice a sweet melodious voice. However, Yzma, on the other hand, has a hoarse voice which fits her villain role.

Eartha’s personality also helped to bring Kronk to life as the two are often seen in scenes together.

What is Eartha Kitt’s net worth?

As per reports, Eartha had an estimated net worth of $4 million. One could say the star was magnificent in all fields of entertainment. Right from singing, dancing, and being a stand-up comedian, or a voice artist, there was no task that Eartha couldn’t do.

Apart from Disney’s show, she has also appeared in Batman, I Spy, The Nanny, The Feast of All Saints, and many more.

Her acting and singing skills also helped her acquire various awards like the NAACP Image Award, Daytime Emmy Award, and more.

    How did the star die?

The singer died on December 25, 2008, after battling colon cancer. She was 81 at the time of her death. The cancer was detected in 2006 and she managed to get cured through various procedures.

However, the cancer recurred after a period of remission. Eartha’s daughter, Kitt Shapiro has time and again raised awareness about colon cancer and continues to do so even today.

Man ends up in hospital after trying to bring a snake home for his kids

    [ad_1]

A man recently ended up in a hospital after he unknowingly decided to take a venomous snake home for his kids.

Social media users were left speechless after they came across a Facebook post that highlighted an incident where a man took home a snake and ended up in the hospital because he was bitten by the venomous reptile.

Mistaken identity leads to venomous snake being taken home

Taking to Facebook, Ray, the Southern Highlands snake catcher, recalled how he was called after a man was bitten by a venomous snake that he decided to bring home after finding it during a hike.

The hiker thought he was taking home a diamond python, the non-venomous snake. However, things quickly turned deadly when he was bitten. The hiker was quickly rushed to the hospital after he violently vomited for 3 hours and had a swollen hand.

As it turns out, the snake was hoplocephalus bungaroides, also known as a broad-headed snake. They are known for being venomous snakes and are not to be messed with.

    How is the hiker now?

Luckily, the hiker is doing just fine. After he was admitted to the hospital, doctors found traces of venom in his system. He was in the hospital for six hours after which he was asked to return home and rest.

During this time, the snake was collected and returned to its natural habitat. Ray pointed out that the hiker was extremely lucky to ‘have made it out.’

He further notified people that the “broad-headed snake venom is neurotoxic, with powerful procoagulants & is weakly hemolytic” and instructed people to not engage with wild snakes.

Social media users react to the unusual story

It did not take long for the post to capture the attention of all the users with one writing: “He’s lucky that the snake didn’t attack his children. If they got bit it could’ve been a lot worse.” Another wrote: “Good lesson to all, leave snakes alone. Admire them from a distance. Remember you’re invading their land and they will protect it at all costs. Glad the kids didn’t lose their dad and I pray for his complete and speedy recovery!”

“I would have just died from the fear alone of seeing the snake in person,” one joked. “I’m so glad his children weren’t bitten and that he can recover from this. Definitely a learning experience,” said one more.

“Hard lesson but very happy he survived,” said another. “A very lucky man, I’m guessing he won’t do that again,” read one more comment.

How to get the free Krispy Kreme donuts on Kindness Day 2023

As it does every year, World Kindness Day falls on November 13. Krispy Kreme is doing its own part to celebrate the day and spread kindness to its customers.

Customers don’t need to make a purchase but simply need to be one of 500 first customers at each store. According to Krispy Kreme’s press release, the offer only applies to Original Glazed donuts.

“World Kindness Day is an opportunity to make a positive difference by being generous – from paying it forward to meaningfully connecting with each other. Simple gestures of carnage and thanks, including sharing a sweet treat, is a great way to do that,” said Dave Skeena, Chief Global Brand Officer for Krispy Kreme.

“We hope a dozen Original Glazed donuts – one doughnut for you and many to share with others – will inspire millions of small acts of kindness,” he added.

The history of World Kindness Day

This year marks the 25th anniversary of World Kindness Day, which was introduced by the World Kindness Movement in 1998.

The World Kindness Movement is an international NGO that has no political or religious affiliations. The organization’s mission is to inspire individuals and to connect nations in order to create a kinder world for all.

“The WKM encourages and supports individuals, communities, cities, and nations to establish independent kindness organizations to join the World Kindness Movement to see a kinder world realized in our lifetime,” reports the NGO’s site.

In 1997, the organization was founded at a conference in Tokyo when the country brought together various organizations from across the world that focused on the importance of kindness as a priority. It was officially launched in 2000 at the third annual conference. In 2019, is was officially recognized as an NGO under Swiss law.

How else to celebrate World Kindness Day 2023

If you find yourself unable to get to a Krispy Kreme store for opening, there are other (not-so-delicious) ways to celebrate World Kindness Day.

Doing something nice for a friend or helping a stranger is a good place to start. Many schools across the country celebrate the day too, hosting activities to teach children all about the importance of kindness.

Or the easiest way of all is sharing World Kindness Day-related posts on social media. Luckily, HITC put together a list of inspiring captions for World Kindness Day.

Why Spotify removed the Heart and replaced it with a Plus and Check

Spotify’s Heart button has disappeared for loads of users this week and people are wondering why.

Why did Spotify remove the Heart icon?

Spotify has removed the Heart button to combine the Heart and Add to Playlist icons into one single symbol.

They announced the change back in February 2023 and said the feature would begin to roll out to all users globally.

The Heart icon used to be used to mark the songs you wanted to save, while Add to Playlist would add tracks or podcast episodes to your favorite playlist.

The new button gives users a “more streamlined way to save favorite music and podcasts,” saves time and allows you to add to multiple playlists at once.

Heart button replaced with Plus and Check

The Heart icon has been replaced with one single Plus (+) button instead, which can do everything the Heart did and more.

When you press Plus (+), you can save and choose the destination for any song, playlist, or podcast with one tap.

The Plus (+) will turn into a green Check and the song or podcast will be added to Liked Songs or Your Episodes.

You can then change the destination of your saved content if you wish by tapping the Check.

“This upgrade is the latest step in our ongoing work to create a more intuitive experience—all leading to an easier way for you to engage with the music and podcasts you love,” Spotify said.

How to find Spotify saved songs and podcasts

To find your saves, click on Your Library in the bottom bar and the Liked Songs and Your Episodes playlists will be there at the top.

Every time you tap the Plus, the song or podcast episode will automatically save into one of these two categories.

There’s no need to panic because everything you previously saved using the Heart icon will still be there too.

Spotify users are really angry about the change on Twitter, where one person wrote: “Spotify changing the heart shaped like button to an ugly checkmark ruined my day.”

“Why would Spotify replace the heart button with a tick? I will cancel my subscription,” another said angrily.

Users will have to get used to it because the new Plus and Check buttons are here to stay!

16-inch footprint ‘unique to’ Bigfoot captured next to ‘stick structures’ in Wales

    [ad_1]

A footprint as big as Shaq’s shoe found in Wales has led people to believe a Bigfoot is hiding in Great Britain.

People living in European countries are rather amused by the report about an extraordinary-sized footprint that’s linked to Sasquatch as these mysterious creatures are rumored to be found in the West more. However, experts have pointed out an interesting detail that supports the theory of Bigfoot.

Except for the NBA champion, no other human is beleived to have a foot size as big as the one found in Wales. The picture was reportedly captured by a paranormal investigator amid the filming of a television series.

The tracks consisting of the mark were found in an area of woodland near Caerphilly and the filmmakers also claim to have seen a “stick structure” beside it, presumably used by Sasquatch as shelter or any other wild creature.

Experts have weighed in on the rare sighting that’s caught everybody’s attention. Canadian Sasquatch researcher, Jason Kenzie, told a local news outlet:

“It could possibly be a Sasquatch footprint. The toes are clear, but I don’t see a mid-tarsal break. The mid-tarsal break is an anatomical feature of the feet believed to be unique to Sasquatch, which is sometimes visible in its tracks.”

    Evidence about sasquatch is ‘inconclusive’

Before you jump to conclusions, the same researcher clarified that the structure of the feet determined from the footprint alone couldn’t confirm if they belonged to Bigfoot and neither does it prove that the mythical creatures are real.

“Unfortunately this evidence is inconclusive because nobody saw what made the footprints, but based on the size alone, it does look closer to an unknown creature than a typical human,” Jason said.

Unverified sightings of Sasquatch have become common in the recent past – last month we saw a Bigfoot in remote Colorado and most recently another footage of the mysterious creature in an Idaho forest.

But none of the videos are proven to be real and Bigfoot remains more relevant in fiction than in real life.

Not only did Nikki come to her daughter‘s defense on stage, but she also emphasized her responsibilities as a mother to protect her child in an interview following the debate.

Rena Haley’s TikTok headlined the presidential debate

American lawmakers have long debated the perils of the Chinese video streaming platform. Yet, no one imagined one particular TikTok account, belonging to Republican Haley’s daughter Rena, would steal the spotlight at the political event.

During the presidential debate which was held in Miami, Vivek remarked on his opponent’s daughter being on TikTok.

He said: “In the last debate, she made fun of me for actually joining TikTok while her own daughter was actually using the app for a long time. So you might want to take care of your family first.”

The criticism directed at Haley’s family didn’t sit well with Nikki, so she came to her daughter’s defense by telling Vivek to “leave my daughter out of your voice,” before calling him a “scum.”

Rena was in the audience when Vivek took a swipe at her TikTok; she was later seen greeting her mother on the stage when the event concluded.

There’s a video of Nikki Haley’s daughter dancing with her husband

A few social media users have noticed that Rena’s TikTok account is nowhere to be found, but it doesn’t confirm she has deleted it.

Somebody on the Internet has managed to get hold of a video that shows her dancing with her husband, Joshua Jackson. As her account is seemingly missing, the only available video has caught everybody’s attention following the debate.

Rena is believed to have graduated from Clemson University in 2021 and is currently working as a pediatric nurse.

She and her husband met while they were attending South Carolina University and tied the knot in April this year, reports The Sun.
