Actress Rashmika Mandanna and model Zara Patel fall victim to ‘extremely scary’ deepfake video

    [ad_1]

The digitally altered footage has united several influential figures in support of Rashmika Mandanna and Zara Patel against the misuse of ‘deepfake’ technology.

A particularly alarming misuse of technology has helped to alert thousands of the downsides. Internet users have been warned over the dangers of artificial intelligence and deepfake software. Actress Rashmika Mandanna has received messages of support after her face appeared in a viral video that was originally posted by model and engineer Zara Patel.

    Alarming deepfake video goes viral

In what is not the first disingenuous ‘deepfake’ video to go viral this year, footage appearing to show Mandanna, a celebrated Telugu language actress, began circulating over the weekend.

In a short clip that clocks in at around six seconds, a woman who appeared to be Mandanna could be seen rushing to enter an elevator, before greeting the person behind the camera. The person said: “I didn’t want to miss this elevator”, to which the person behind the camera replied “Damn girl”.

The clip itself was not necessarily explicit in its content, though it has generally been regarded as having a rather suggestive nature. It has prompted fears over how the clip’s creators may use footage of Mandanna, or anyone else, in the future.

Though the exact origins of the deepfake version are unknown, the original clip was first posted by Patell, a British-Indian model and engineer with a large Instagram following, on October 8.

Rashminda Mandanna and Zara Patel respond

Immediately concerned by what she saw, Mandanna took to Twitter on November 6 to condemn those who generated and perpetrated the misleading video.

She wrote: “I feel really hurt to share this and have to talk about the deepfake video of me being spread online.

“Something like this is honestly, extremely scary not only for me, but also for each one of us who today is vulnerable to so much harm because of how technology is being misused.

“Today, as a woman and as an actor, I am thankful for my family, friends and well wishers who are my protection and support system… We need to address this as a community and with urgency before more of us are affected by such identity theft. “

Patel, who has just 3000 followers in comparison to Mandanna’s 4.7 million responded.

She said: “Well it looks like people are making deep fakes of me looool” in response to the footage, before posting a rather ambiguous tweet which simply read “idk”.

Community rallies around Rashmika Mandanna after deepfake

Thankfully for both of the victims of the deepfake incident, the online community has been largely supportive. Various individuals offering to rally around to help stamp out similar incidents.

Hindi cinema legend and former politician Amitabh Bachchan was one of the many influential people to draw attention to Mandanna’s deepfake clip, declaring that there was “a strong case” for legal action to be taken.

Senior politicians such as Telangana legislator Kalvakuntla Kavitha also reached out to the Mission Majnu star. They wrote: “Urgent action is needed to safeguard Indian women from cyber threats”.

Fans of Mandanna’s flocked to her tweets in their thousands. One said: “Its great that she (Mandanna) has addressed it. As she rightly points out, for a normal person it would be life altering. This needs to be punished, urgently.”

MrBeast worries he may be ‘canceled’ after building 100 wells in Africa

    [ad_1]

MrBeast is known for his outrageous philanthropic feats although, in the wake of his most recent video in Africa, he admitted that he may not be as popular as everybody thinks he is as he expressed fears over being ‘canceled’.

He may be the biggest personality on all of YouTube, with the most outrageous video budget known to man, but MrBeast appears to be well aware of the fact that he may not be everybody’s favorite creator. After showcasing the results of yet another exceptionally large-scale undertaking over the weekend, the 25-year-old confirmed on Twitter that he will not be making any changes to his usual content, despite what any doubters may have to say about him.

MrBeast thinks he may be ‘canceled’ after Africa video

Taking to his hugely popular channel on Saturday, November 4, MrBeast explained to his 207 million subscribers that he had helped build 100 wells in Africa. He then showed the reactions of multiple villages in Kenya as they received brand new functioning boreholes, fit for extracting clean water.

The project will help provide as many as half a million Kenyan residents with access to clean water, MrBeast, real name James ‘Jimmy’ Donaldson, claimed in the video which was hailed as “inspiring and changing the world” by one fan on Twitter.

Donaldson did go on to say, however, that he is aware that not everyone is a big fan of his, but that he won’t change his style for anyone:

Why do some people not like MrBeast?

Given his extremely charitable nature, along with his immense popularity, it’s hard to imagine why Donaldson would ever be ‘canceled’ for doing something like building wells in Africa, or even why some people may not particularly like him.

Yet, there have been a number of people who have expressed their distaste for MrBeast’s content for some time now. One social media user helped display the issues people have with Donaldson and his content perfectly, when they asked “Why would anyone cancel you for building wells?” prompting several impassioned responses below.

Clearly unhappy with the notion of Donaldson being criticized, one seemingly frustrated user replied: “Because no matter what good anyone does in the world, the righteous keyboard warriors on social media will find a way to make it negative.”

Another person chalked criticism of MrBeast down to “Leftist, marxist “victim” theory.”

Perhaps the most elaborate response, however, came from a user named Stephen Wood, who wrote: “Because he (MrBeast) could use his platform & money to tackle the root cause (capitalism, imperialism) rather than throw money at the symptoms, ultimately reinforcing the very systems that leads to the poverty.”

This sentiment was echoed in a popular tweet from the weekend that garnered over 77,000 likes, which read: “I think Mr. Beast would be an incredible channel if he talked a bit more about why he has to do this (build wells etc.) while he’s doing it.”

‘I built 100 wells in Africa’ video racks up millions of views instantly

Despite the discourse surrounding the intentions and the ethics of his content, Donaldson’s latest video appears to be soaring up the YouTube trending charts, quickly garnering millions of views in true MrBeast fashion.

At the time of writing on November 6, the ‘I built 100 wells in Africa’ video has been live for two days, and currently sits in 39th position on the site’s trending charts, with no less than 51 million sets of eyeballs having taken in Donaldson’s latest charitable feat.

To contextualize just how popular the MrBeast channel actually is, SocialBlade statistics show that his is the most popular channel belonging to a single YouTuber in the world, with a lead of over 96 million on PewDiePie in second place.

While perhaps there is a conversation to be had about why such a channel needs to exist in society in the first place, it would appear that MrBeast is not going anywhere anytime soon.

Man reveals he accidentally ‘swallowed’ his pet fish during late-night eating binge

    [ad_1]

A TikTok user named Adrian Peru has gone viral after revealing that he accidentally “swallowed” his new fish Nemo during a late-night eating binge.

If you think you’ve seen it all on TikTok, the latest story of a TikToker accidentally swallowing his pet fish will make you believe otherwise. The platform’s user Adrian Peru has revealed one of the most bizarre stories about how he “swallowed” his fish while eating Oreos late at night. He says he can confirm that he did ingest the fish, because he saw orange flakes when he used the restroom later.

    Goldfish in Bowl

TikToker accidentally swallows his pet fish

Adrian took to his TikTok about a week ago to share the wild story. He notes he went to a fair and got a fish that he put in a big glass jug. The TikToker wakes up the next day and does not find the fish in the jug he put it in.

He then speculates how the fish he named Nemo could have hopped into the glass placed right beside the jug but the fish isn’t there. The TikToker then spots an opened pack of half-eaten Oreos. He says the packet made him remember how he woke up at 4:00 a.m. and “smashed” a whole line of Oreos from the packet. He then thinks that he could not have eaten a whole row of the biscuits without water.

He then pans his camera to the jug and the glass again and says, “Bro I am almost 100% sure I swallowed that fish. I have a fish in my stomach right now.”

He says he can confirm that he drank that water because the glass has the same smell as the jug that he kept the fish in.

TikToker saw orange flakes while using the restroom

The social media user then posted a “sad update” a day after his first video went viral. He said he could officially confirm this now because he used the restroom and saw some “orange flakes.”

Adrian remembers his new fish saying, “He was a fighter” before noting that he is “retiring” the glass he drank the water from in Nemo’s memory.

The viral video has inspired hundreds of comments on TikTok and also made it onto Twitter.

    Users react to viral TikToks

Many users were surprised how the TikToker did not realize that he was swallowing the fish at the moment.

“How do u accidentally do this?” one commenter in utter surprise.

“Bo ain’t no way this is real you’ve gotta be joking..” said a second user.

Many commented “RIP Nemo” with laughing and crying emojis.

Some noted how Adrian could have accidentally poured the fish into the glass he drank the water out of.

“You saying he jumped, you sure you just didn’t POUR him into the cup,” he said.

“You have taken us on a journey of an incident none of us have ever wanted lol,” another user said with laughing emojis.

Instagram users concerned 2023 ‘Wrapped’ app ‘will expose’ their activities

    [ad_1]

As we are near the end of 2023, social media users are eager to look back at their online habits with features like Spotify’s Wrapped and YouTube’s Rewind, but a third-party app that promises something similar for Instagram has sparked concerns, owing to the details it asks the users to share.

Instagram users are trying the ‘Wrapped’ in 2023

Instagram users have turned to the third-party app, Wrapped, which claims to show activities related to your account. At the time of writing this, it is only available in the Apple Store.

The application claims to present an in-depth analysis of your data – which you need to download from the original app – including how many people screenshot your posts, how many users blocked you, and who you interacted the most with among others.

Even though users are met with results on the unofficial app, there’s no way to tell if it is accurate. Meta has a strict policy against revealing any details regarding its users and none of its apps – Instagram or Facebook – show who visited your profile.

You can always learn about your activities on Instagram, but it is highly unlikely that any other app will show you fellow users’ activities corresponding to your profile.

A few users claimed Wrapped showed them different figures with each attempt, making it harder to trust the final result.

Sharing your personal data is never safe

Wrapped asks its users to share data from their personal Instagram accounts, leaving some worried about their online habits being “exposed.”

Instagram does allow its users to download information regarding their activities on its platform, but many are skeptical about sharing the same with a third-party application as it may contain sensitive information that isn’t safe to reveal.

“Has anyone tried this app? I feel this will expose my stalking habit,” wrote one user.

“I had to change all my users so people don’t know I’m stalking,” read one comment.

Another claimed: “It changes every time I open the app. “

“This is against Instagram’s terms of service so if you log into the app with Instagram you might not be able to get back into IG – FYI,” said a third person.

Another comment read: “I tried this and now I am traumatized.”

    Instagram has Recap Reel

Instagram introduced a feature called Recap Reel in 2022, allowing users to highlight significant moments from the past year in the form of a reel.

The end-of-year review on Instagram for 2023 is not out yet, but the app may soon let you wrap up this year as it was made available in December last year.

The Recap Reel lets users share up to 10 stories with their followers and the steps are pretty simple.

“Don’t get Instagram Wrapped, it’s fake. Change your password,” said another.

Others are claiming the site is ‘fixed’ and the statistics about your account change every time you create a new reel.

The app claims to provide “in-depth data” about your Instagram account with “exclusive access to analytics”.

Wrapped for Instagram doesn’t show who blocked you

Wrapped for Instagram doesn’t show who has blocked you on the platform. It just claims to show the number of people who have blocked your profile.

Social media is full of misconceptions about the third-party app, which is designed to review your activities on Instagram in the past year and present a detailed analysis.

However, unlike what many have come to believe, the app doesn’t explicitly reveal the names of the users who have fully restricted you from viewing their profiles. It does show who viewed your profile the most in 2023 either.

To avoid further confusion, let us make it clear to you that the app is not owned by Instagram or its parent company. So, there’s no way to determine if the results are accurate.

For the unversed, the rumored Profile Views feature goes against Meta‘s policy of protecting the identity of its users. Instagram discourages users from using unverified apps or websites to find out the same as it can compromise the safety of their original profile.

Six results displayed on IG Wrapped

Below are the results shown by Wrapped when you share your personal information from Instagram.

Where to get the Wrapped app in 2023

Meanwhile, Instagram has its yearly feature called Recap Reels, which helps you compile your favorite moments from the past year. It’s yet to be announced in 2023.

Yearly recaps have become popular on social media with several platforms adapting the feature to offer their users a glimpse of one year’s worth of activities.

This is also available as Spotify Wrapped and YouTube Rewind, which are usually launched in December every year.

    Concern Instagram Wrapped is ‘fake’

The Wrapped for Instagram app isn’t associated with Instagram in any way but uses your account to provide statistics about your profile over the past year.

This includes how many hours you’ve spent on Instagram, your top friends, how many people took screenshots of your posts and how many blocked you.

However, some Instagram users think something isn’t adding up. The statistics seem wrong for many, leading to speculation the whole thing is fake.

For example, some say it’s not possible for that many people to have taken screenshots of their photos as they haven’t posted.

Some are even claiming they get different numbers if they start again, leading many to be dubious about the viral tool.

    Users convinced statistics aren’t real

One person wrote on Twitter: “This Instagram Wrapped thing is most definitely fake cause I haven’t posted anything in the past four years so i’m not sure how 10 people took a screenshot of a post that doesn’t exist.”

“Also I can’t imagine 11 people blocking me since I never post anything and I barely know 11 people,” they continued.

Another social media user agreed: “I tried the Instagram Wrapped thing and I‘m pretty sure it’s bulls**t.”

“This Instagram Wrapped thing must be wrong,” someone else also said.

No proof that IGWrapped is fixed

However, this is all just speculation and there’s no real proof that IGWrapped displays false information.

The website reveals the app was made by a small team of designers and engineers from Venice Beach, California.

“We built IG Wrapped because we wanted a fun way to recap our 2023 IG activity,” the site says.

“To get your Wrapped, all you have to do is log in with Instagram – your export will be ready shortly after!”

Wrapped for Instagram claims the tool is safe and built with a “privacy first approach” where none of your data touches their server.

A video of a waiter giving a new plate of food to a hungry child who tried to eat someone’s leftovers is warming people’s hearts.

The amazing clip was shared by a Twitter user called Enezator who shares viral videos and has had more than 3.5 million views.

Waiter gives food to hungry child

In the video, a woman sitting in a restaurant booth gets up and leaves her half-finished plate of food on the table.

A young boy wearing jumper far too big for him then runs over. He had already been eyeing up the food from one of the booths behind.

He picks up a fork to begin eating the leftover bits, but the waiter comes over and takes it away before he has a chance to dig in.

The hungry child rubs his hand over his eyes and gets up in disappointment, thinking he’s missed out the scraps.

However, the waiter then returns with a whole fresh plate of food from the kitchen and a drink to go with it and a huge smile spreads over the boy’s face.

Twitter users say he’s a ‘hero’

In the comments, people are calling the waiter a ‘hero’ and saying the video has restored their faith in humanity.

One person wrote: “We still have heroes alive. There’s still an atom of humanity found in the world.”

    “Now that’s heartwarming,” said another.

A third person added: “Makes me happy to see there are true heroes still out there like this gentleman!”

“We need more people like him in the world,” someone else said.

Another tweeted: “Not every hero wears a cape!”

People think the clip is scripted

Some are suggesting the video is scripted as it seems strange that the camera is in the perfect place to film the interaction.

“Do they really want us to believe this is real?” someone said.

However, others say even if it is scripted, it’s still a heartwarming interaction people can repeat in real life.

Another added: “This is fake, but we still have kind people in the world, people who do this or other things to help.”

Jellyfish in ‘Royal Angel Protects Israel’ video is a giveaway that it’s fake

    [ad_1]

It wasn’t even the “Royal Angel” looking over people in Israel that made the wild claims questionable, but the jellyfish that flew over its head in a viral video.

As if rumors about aliens weren’t enough to keep us hooked to our phone and computer screens, social media is seeing a rise in mind-boggling incidents supposedly occurring in Israel amid the ongoing war. A few days ago, we showed you a video that depicted multiple UFOs flying over Israel. Now, an angel seems to have mysteriously appeared in the sky to shower its blessings.

‘Royal Angel Protects Israel’ video goes viral

TikTok users have watched the video alleging angels over Israel more than 6.5 million times, and we aren’t surprised.

Unlike other aerial phenomena which can be backed by science to a certain degree, the videos alleging sightings of supernatural beings are hard to believe. No wonder people have called the viral video a bluff, and the jellyfish spotted next to the angel has only made it easier to refute the claims.

The video captioned in Spanish – Royal Angel Protects Israel – is only a few seconds long but is captivating enough to make you watch it on a loop.

The video depicts the so-called angel – white in color with wings and in a lady-like form – looking over people from the sky, while a jellyfish is seen swimming in the clouds around the figure.

Viewers thought the random jellyfish was a dead giveaway that the video wasn’t real, even though some hoped an angel did make an appearance to better the worldly situations.

Users say the viral video is ‘fake’

‘It could be a CGI’ is the theory supported by most, while some others feel it could be an existing clip from a different source merged into the video filmed in Israel.

Either way, it’s safe to say a Royal Angel did not mysteriously show up in the sky.

One commented: “CGI from the ’80s.”

“What is the white jellyfish thing supposed to be?” asked another.

    “Probably a hologram,” suggested one.

Another asked: “Am I the only one who thinks the video could have passed off as real if not for the jellyfish?”

‘Angels’ sighted elsewhere was dismissed too

Only recently, another video that surfaced on TikTok claimed to show angels falling from the sky, but users had a reasonable explanation for what they witnessed.

The video allegedly filmed in San Diego shows multiple glowing lights falling from the sky, appearing to be going in circular motion close to one another.

Users were quick to note that the light could be emitted from the torches held by skydivers while making a landing, while others said the video showed the Navy SEALS training.

But, the video lacks an origin, so it’s harder to determine if it’s real or not.

We all love to pose in front of a camera and it would appear that so do black bears. Last year, Open Space and Mountain Parks Rangers came across a black who who unintentionally took selfies.

The hidden camera managed to click 580 photos and out of them, 400 were selfies. Will Keeley, senior wildlife ecologist for Open Space and Mountain Parks was also thrilled to have captured such a unique moment.

He said: “The motion-detecting cameras provide us a unique opportunity to learn more about how local species use the landscape around us while minimizing our presence in sensitive habitats. These cameras play an important role in helping OSMP staff identify important wildlife areas. The information we collect from them is used to recommend habitat-protective measures to help protect sensitive natural areas.”

The woman was quick to explain how the poodle looked exactly like Tater with the only difference being that her collar was loose. At the same time, she noticed that the dog was acting unusual and jumped around the house as if it was the first time she had entered it.
