‘Artistic nudity’ meaning
“Content with a focus on fictionalized (drawn, animated, or sculpted) sexual body parts regardless of gender (such as doing nude figure drawing) are allowed with a Sexual Themes Label,” Twitch’s new guidelines say.
This means you can share nudity that has been created for artistic purposes but they must be imaginary and not include any real people or images. Artistic depictions of “fictionalized sexual acts” still remain prohibited.
Artistic nudity includes drawings or animations of fully nude people, including breasts, genitals or buttocks. This change is to embrace the “thriving artist community on Twitch” as the old policy was far too punishing.
Content must be labelled
If you do share any artistic nudity on Twitch, you must add a content classification label that says ‘Sexual Themes’.
This is because the content contains mature themes which are not appropriate for everyone, including younger viewers.
“Content classification labels help viewers make informed choices about the content they watch,” Twitch says.
They also help streamers attract viewers who are “more likely to be a good fit for their community”and help brands make better choices.
No label results in warning
Twitch warns that anyone who fails to apply a label, or applies the incorrect label, will get a warning and the correct label will be applied to their stream.
Repeated violations will result in the correct label being locked onto the channel for a set duration of time, but will not result in a suspension.
Under the new rules, streams that are labeled with mature themes will no longer be recommended on the Twitch homepage.
This includes: Drugs, Intoxication, or Excessive Tobacco Use, Violent and Graphic Depictions, Gambling and Sexual Themes.
However, any streams with these labels will still be included in Category page recommendations as usual.
